Fairfield by Marriott Hotels in Lijiang

To be honest, I was quite disappointed. The room was small, and the soundproofing was poor. However, my only reason for choosing this hotel was Fairfield's 'bubble cotton' bedding. My partner had always pushed for Atour, as they really like it. Atour's service is indeed excellent; they offer free laundry, including pickup and ironing. In fact, the free laundry service at Atour was a major draw. Fairfield, on the other hand, charges for laundry pods, a small fee per pod. I had a great experience with Fairfield in Guiyang, especially liking their bedding, so my loyalty to Fairfield's bedding led me to choose this hotel. But this particular Fairfield truly fell short of expectations. The fact that the bathroom and toilet had no door was incredibly awkward!!! And the pillows weren't down pillows; they were some kind of very tall, uncomfortable cotton pillows. I called the front desk to ask for a latex pillow, but they didn't have any, nor did they have body lotion. Honestly, if my partner hadn't been drunk and fallen asleep that night, I would have packed up and left immediately. During breakfast, the staff struggled to clear tables promptly. Most of them were older, so they weren't particularly enthusiastic, lacking 'young blood' so to speak. The guy next to me had to ask twice for the coffee machine grounds to be emptied, and he was absolutely fuming by the time it was handled, haha. Overall, my impression was that there was no real service. It felt more like a budget motel next to a train station – just a place to crash for the night. When checking out the next day, I encountered a lady at the front desk. She didn't ask about my stay, but she gave me a complimentary 'hat' souvenir. It wasn't anything special, but I appreciated the gesture. Because of this, I chose not to make things difficult for the front desk staff and gave a five-star rating. If it weren't for her, I honestly think I would have given a 1-star review! Candidly, I won't be returning.
