Steigenberger Nile Palace Luxor - Convention Center

Steigenberger Nile Palace Luxor - Convention Center ★★★★★

📍 Khaled Ben Walid St, Luxor

"I booked a Nile view room, and overall it was pretty good. The only thing is I didn't see any hot air balloons for two days, which was a bit strange. The hotel has its own pier where you can enjoy the sunset on the Nile. The Thai restaurant on the first floor definitely caters to Chinese palates; we ate there three times, it was so delicious! The hotel breakfast was just okay, and the staff weren't very enthusiastic. I was a little surprised to see 'Happy Chinese New Year' right when I entered the lobby, possibly because it's been acquired by Huazhu Hotels Group."

"Not enough Chinese food options, I'd suggest adding more. The service was excellent! Ola and Yasmin were super helpful! My English isn't great, but they were both very patient with me! ❤️"

"I wouldn't recommend staying here. When we checked in, we reported that the kettle was broken, but then they accused us of breaking it and forced us to pay 1000 EGP upon checkout. I'm curious, what kind of kettle costs 1000 EGP? Furthermore, the attitude towards Chinese guests during check-in was very poor; it took half an hour just to wait for check-in, and the whole process took 50 minutes. Also, if you don't tip the staff, they won't even talk to you. I gave 50 EGP and they still wouldn't help with my luggage; the bellboy explicitly asked for 100 EGP 🕺. I really don't understand where all the good reviews are coming from. As a diamond member, I rarely leave bad reviews, but I just couldn't hold back this time; a negative review is absolutely necessary."

"The only downside to this hotel was that my room had a side view of the Nile, otherwise everything else was great, including a lovely little balcony. The location is excellent – not only do you get a view of the Nile, but it's also close to the pool, dining options, and hot air balloon bookings. Magic Horizon is just across the street, and King Tut's is upstairs in a nearby alley. There are two Chinese restaurants within walking distance, and Luxor Temple is also walkable if you're up for it. The breakfast was very good. Although the elevator is small, it's pretty normal, not one of those run-down versions. The shower and bed were both good."

"This hotel is a gem. Small enough to feel very exclusive, but big enough to have all the facilities you need. We arrived in Luxor on the Oberoi Zehra Nile cruise, which was outstanding in every way. The hotel is 30 minutes from Luxor in a pretty area of countryside. The buildings are very attractive and the suites are dotted around the pretty grounds. Everywhere you look is another photo opportunity with lovely seating areas and fountains. Unfortunately I caught a severe case of bronchitis somewhere on the journey, so I had to stay in the suite for five days, which was a huge shame. However, the hotel has an excellent clinic staffed with doctors who visited twice a day with appropriate medication. By the end of our stay I could venture out to enjoy the pleasures of the hotel. In our opinion the hotel is an excellent place to stay in Luxor as it is away from the town, which is not very pretty. It is an elegant, unusually attractive place where you experience old Cairo with excellent modern facilities. We are considering going again in October to get the full experience I missed out on due my illness. Go, you will not be disappointed."

"It's close to the station, but the road to the hotel is not well-maintained (this is true throughout Egypt), so if you have large luggage, it might be better to take a taxi. The hotel will arrange anything, including felucca, balloon, and transfer to the ruins. I had already booked the balloon and transfer to the ruins, so they arranged the felucca, but the time... I think the time was a little early. I came back just as other tourists were going out to the Nile to watch the sunset... To be honest, I think I would have been more satisfied if I had directly negotiated with the boatman along the Nile at the time of the scenery I wanted to see. Hot water came out well and the water pressure was perfect. The only amenities were bar soap. There was no hair dryer in the room. I used one I brought with me, so I'm not sure if I can borrow one from the front desk. There was a bathtub, but it wasn't cleaned. In fact, the drain was clogged from the beginning, and my hair got mixed in, which was awful. The refrigerator was very cold, but I wonder if the air conditioner is controlled by the front desk? It didn't turn on even when I pressed the switch, so I asked the front desk and they turned it on for me. There is an elevator. The clogged bathtub was the worst, but the hotel staff were all so kind (I told them I needed glue and they went out of their way to buy it for me!), and it was the only relief I felt in the rip-off town of Luxor lol. Thank you for your help."

"Amenities: Excellent! The room amenities are the most comprehensive I've seen in the 10+ hotels I've stayed at in Egypt, including slippers, loofahs, and a bathtub. Cleanliness: Very clean. Environment: Excellent. Service: Excellent! They kindly upgraded us to a Nile River view room for free, and we got to watch the sunset. Special thanks to the front desk!"

"The room itself wasn't large, but we upgraded to a Nile River view room. The balcony was small; the view from directly downstairs was actually better. The hotel's location is superb, the scenery is absolutely stunning. We watched two sunsets, so we hardly needed to go anywhere else in the hotel to see them. As for food, our first day included a dinner buffet that lasted until 10 PM; the quality was decent, nothing special. The second day we ordered à la carte, and the food was quite good. Overall, the scenery was the biggest plus."

"The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Luxor Temple, which was great for sightseeing. I ended up walking from the hotel to Luxor Temple, then along the Avenue of Sphinxes all the way to Karnak Temple. It was quite a long walk, an experience you don't often get! However, at night, you can hear music and car noise from outside the room until late. It didn't bother me much, but it can be a bit noisy. The view of the Nile at night from the hotel's rooftop was beautiful, though a hotel under construction directly in front did obstruct the view somewhat."

"The lady at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. I arrived quite early by train, around 9 AM, and she was incredibly accommodating, offering an early check-in after just a 40-minute wait for the room to be prepared. The place is very quiet. Getting a taxi to attractions on the East Bank is easy and costs around 50 EGP. The surroundings are lovely, and you can even watch hot air balloons from the terrace!"

"We originally booked a room that cost over 1600, but when we went to check in, everyone enthusiastically told us we'd been upgraded and took us to our new room... We immediately felt something was off – wasn't this the room that goes for just over 600? They clearly downgraded us without permission and tried to pull a fast one... We immediately went downstairs to the front desk, showed them our hotel confirmation and the room type we'd booked... They calmly led us to see our original room type, saying it was under renovation... I asked, 'Then why are you still selling this room type online? If you know it's not available, don't list it!' Then they gave us a bunch of fancy excuses that were just plain nonsense! After that, they took us to a suite, again trying to convince us it was the best room in the hotel... Yeah, right! The bathroom was in a dead-end corner, so it's probably a suite that's rarely used... Today, when checking out, they asked us how we felt about the hotel. Oh, it was great, especially that 'room upgrade' service you offered us at the beginning! If we hadn't complained yesterday, you probably would've just gotten away with it, wouldn't you?! Haha 😂"
