Fantastic find! Right in the heart of local eats and life. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely large room - be mindful sound carries as hardwood flooring throughout so if you have noisy neighbours you hear it. Can store luggage and water dispenser at reception.

Disappointing Stay – Will Not Return This was my third time booking this hostel. While my previous two stays were acceptable, my experience on the night of October 28th was deeply disappointing and has convinced me never to return. At check-in, the receptionist barely spoke, using only fragmented English words like “sign,” “room number,” and “deposit 100.” There was no eye contact, no smile, and no expression—just cold, robotic responses. Worse, she took my ID and forgot to return it. I only realized this an hour later when another staff member came to my room to inform me it had been left at the photocopy machine. The next morning, I was disturbed twice before the official checkout time of 12:00 PM. At 10:45 AM., the phone rang once and hung up. Then again, at 11:10 AM, while I was in the shower, the phone rang once more. I suspect this was a tactic by housekeeping to wake guests early when no rooms were available to clean. When I raised the issue at reception, the staff member speaking Putonghua casually blamed a “newly hired room attendant,” offering no proper explanation or apology. If you value your rest and prefer not to be disturbed before the official checkout time, I strongly recommend seeking alternative accommodations. 令人失望的住宿体验—不会再来 这是我第三次预订这家旅舍。前两次的住宿尚可接受，但10月28日当晚的经历令我极度失望，决定不再光顾。 办理入住时，接待员几乎不说话，只用几个英文单词应付，如“签名”、“房号”、“押金100”。她没有眼神交流，没有微笑，面无表情，回应冷漠如机器人。更糟糕的是，她收走了我的身份证却忘记归还。一个小时后，另一位员工才到我房间通知，身份证被遗忘在复印机上。 第二天早上，在正式退房时间（中午12点）之前，我被打扰了两次。上午10:45电话响了一下就挂断，11:10我正在洗澡时电话又响了一次。我怀疑这是清洁部故意提前叫醒客人，以便腾出房间清洁。当我向前台反映此事时，说普通话的员工轻描淡写地将责任归咎于“新来的房务员”，既没有合理解释，也没有正式道歉。 如果您重视休息，不希望在退房前被打扰，我强烈建议您选择其他住宿地点。

super kind staff, perfect location -- in the best neighborhood of macau，the barrio, and well situated to get to other spots such as the center and st paul's ruins and such -- and the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable

Clean and big room for a comfortable stay in Macau peninsula. You can walk to Senado square, the downtown area and the Wynn/MGM casinos. The ladies at the reception have been very nice and professional. Book ahead and online for better rates.

Not able to stay in the hotel due to the storm but over all we had a great time staying there. ☺️

The location was great. Easy to go and near the bus stop. Staff can speak English and the room was clean. Receptionist was friendly. I really love it and recommend to my friends.

I like the area in which the hotel is located. It's close to bus stops, closer to the Grand Lisboa and restaurants. The Hotel is clean 🫧.

Perfect location in the old town, there's life like in China and in Portugal on the same place, wonderful, if you don't care casinos in Macau!

Here's a breakdown: Pros: - **Room Size**: Much more spacious compared to most hotels in Hong Kong, which was a big relief. - **Comfort**: The bed is on the firm side, but the pillows are incredibly soft, and the duvet felt new and fluffy, making for a comfortable sleep. - **Air Conditioning**: Worked perfectly, keeping the room cool and pleasant. - **Amenities**: The room was well-equipped with a toothbrush, comb, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a water heater, a small wardrobe, a table and chair, and a hair dryer. - **Location**: Very close to a bus stop, making it easy to get around. Also, there are plenty of food options nearby, including convenient stores and non-halal food stalls (for those interested) . Cons: - **Toilet Size**: The toilet is quite small, designed for an average Asian build. If you’re taller or of European size, it might be a bit cramped—you may even need to bend your knees in certain positions. ### Additional Notes for Muslim Travelers: If you're looking for halal food, I highly recommend visiting **Indonesia Warong Amar Berkah**, a bus ride with fewer stops and few meters from the station you'll find the shop snuggle between pastry shops. The food there is delicious and a must-try, worth the price! Overall, **Pensão Elegante** offers great value for its price, with a strategic location and good amenities. Just be prepared for the small toilet and firm bed! Would definitely stay here again for a budget-friendly trip.
