Nalanda Retreat Goa by Mandrem Beach

"After a week at Nalanda yoga retreat I can honestly say that I feel so much better than when I arrived, more flexible, more healthy, slimmer and more grounded. My days there were filled with an 8.00am yoga session followed by a healthy vegetarian buffet breakfast in the Chia lounge which is a beach front rustic restaurant where you benefit from the fresh sea breeze and also a place to meditate and reflect. The afternoon yoga session was at 4.00 which gave me time for a massage or the Shirodhara treatment before hand...very relaxing. The massages were not the best I've had but all the same you knew that you'd been worked on in a positive way. All the treatments I bought as part of the auyavedic package they do. My biggest criticism is the assessment from an auyavedic doctor. I felt that it was very superficial, no pulses were taken and I wrote my own notes from a questionnaire. This is no reason not to go to Nalanda, I would go back again in an instant but would probably not have that package as I experienced it. That's my one niggle. There was a sound bath falitated by Svetlana which was also a highlight for me and one thing which was outside the package was the ice bath which was well worth the spend. All the yoga instructors were brilliant, thank you to Eric , Sonal and Yashna and if it was a quieter session it could be tailored to your body's needs. The rest of the staff were brilliant too, Kajal on reception, all those in the Chia lounge and the two hard working ladies keeping the ground swept and tidy. I went to Nalanda with a intention to healing myself after losing family member over the past few years. I had no expectations of how or even if it would happen but with hand on heart I landed exactly in the right place for what I needed."

"Overall, I liked it. The ocean is a 10-minute walk on asphalt, there's an exchange office, a store, and a cafe all along the way. The breakfast food is a bit on the tacky side, but you can find something to eat (there's plenty of choice)."

The large swimming pool is perfect for relaxing, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a lovely bathtub adding to the comfort. Overall, a very pleasant experience—highly recommended for a relaxing getaway!"
