Il Belvedere
"Lovely hotel with the best view, great staff, great breakfast. Highly recommend."
Locanda di San Martino Hotel & Thermae Romanae
"Very good, convenient transportation, large room and good facilities"
UNA HOTELS MH Matera
"A hotel with a very nice lobby and common areas; the rooms are comfortable and clean, with some details being noteworthy (such as the fact that the air conditioning doesn't work and is a bit noisy). The reception was very friendly and attentive to our questions. Due to the weather, we were unable to use the pool as the hours of use are limited (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and the water was warm. Matera is a 15-minute drive away, and the hotel has a parking area."
UNA HOTELS La Martella
Pianelle Resort
"Paolo the receptionist is the best. Very easy to communicate, and he knows well the sassi area. Cleanliness and big room thats what we need"
Palazzo Gattini - the Leading Hotels of the World
"The location is very good. The service is very good. Even if you forget something, you can keep it well."
Albergo Del Sedile
"Splendid hotel, in the center of Matera, Francesca at the reception was helpful and competent. The room was wonderful with a gorgeous bathroom! I highly recommend it."
HOTEL MOSAICO
"Hotel located outside the historic center of Matera completely new and is about 10 minutes from the center by car. Very kind staff: upon arrival at 6 in the morning Mr. Daniele welcomed us with great kindness already providing us with our room. Abundant and rich breakfast. Very clean rooms, elegant and equipped with every comfort. New swimming pool cared for in every detail. Recommended!"
Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & Spa
"I recently stayed at the Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel and Spa in Matera, and it was an unforgettable experience. The rooms are carved out of historic caves, offering a unique and enchanting atmosphere that blends modern luxury with ancient charm. The location is perfect, nestled within the Matera Sassi UNESCO World Heritage site, providing easy access to the city’s main attractions. The hotel’s amenities are top-notch. I particularly enjoyed the spa facilities, which include a sauna, hammam, and a heated indoor pool. The staff were incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met with a smile. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was impeccable, adding to the overall comfort of my stay. One minor downside was the cost of some extras, which felt a bit high. Additionally, while the cave-themed rooms are stunning, they might not be for everyone due to the unique layout and lighting. Despite these small issues, the overall experience was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unique stay in Matera."

Piazza Mulino 26
"A fantastic stay after finishing Cammino Materano, on the doorstep of the Sassi, quiet and peaceful"
Il Carrubo Residenza Walk&Stay
"I was with my wife and a couple of friends in this B&B chosen on the basis of positive feedbacks seen on TA and Booking. The structure is in a great location, at the border between Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso, which is built in an old structure naturally excavated in the saxo. The rooms (4 in all) still feature elements of the old dressing structure, even with fossils visible in some times. Our room was especially suited with a beautiful shower in a room with an ancient chamber. Breakfast is discreet, with some typical products of the territory, although not particularly wide in the offer. Information about Matera and the things to see. If I come back to Matera, I will certainly stay at the Carrubo."
Vetera Matera
"We came to Matera with friends for a few nights before heading to Puglia for a bike trip. Matera is a UNESCO world heritage site, known for its sassi (limestone rock houses and neighborhoods). Beautiful and interesting, it is NOT a place easily navigated if one has physical disabilities. Matera Vetera is an exquisitely restored historic property, Relais & Chateau brand and is built of limestone rock and encompasses a prehistoric cave. The attention to detail is impressive. The rooms vary from a cave suite (where we stayed for one night), to those on upper levels with private patios and gorgeous views of the sassi and the many rock churches. It is a unique place among many B&B’s and small hotels. There is also a lovely spa offering massage and other treatments located in the lower cave area. Although there are many stone stairs joining various levels of the hotel, it is also served by elevators. Service was very good, and I would particularly like to commend Michaela at the front desk who is lovely, and very helpful. The breakfast buffet is comprised of fresh fruits, fresh juices, local yogurts and cheeses, breads, vegetables and antipasti, with seating on a lovely shaded patio and inside. There is also a menu for eggs, omelets, etc. If one is headed to Matera, this is a wonderful hotel, well-located and lovingly restored to perfection."
Residence Masseria Santa Lucia
"Very nice place with great potential, but the service is a bit disorganized overall. Nothing special, though."
Best Western Plus Dimora del Monaco
"+1. The hotel is very clean. +2. The reception staff is ok. +3. Plenty of parking. -1. A bit far from the city center and attractions. -2. Not many shops or restaurants nearby. -3. Limited breakfast options."
Hotel Sassi
"Matera is beautiful & I loved my time there but the room allocated was not. It was very spacious but had no downstairs windows, only the tiny mezzanine floor above did. The aircon was set at 26 degrees which was complained about twice & nothing done. I have also never stayed anywhere and had to complain about no cold water in the shower or bathroom taps. The shower cabinet was held together with a rusty screw & the bathroom mirror urgently needs replacing. Breakfast was ok but please serve coffee in bigger cups!"
Spazio Gagarin Residence
"The room was excellent and the receptionist was friendly."
EUVODIA LUXURY ROOMS
"My experience at Evodia Luxury Rooms was truly exceptional. Despite our late arrival at 1:15 AM, the staff greeted us warmly and made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. They were incredibly attentive throughout our stay, offering detailed advice on how to get around quickly and suggesting fantastic dining options in the area. Upon arrival, they welcomed us with a refreshing drink, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture after a long journey. The attention to detail didn’t stop there; the breakfast each morning was delightful, with a variety of fresh and delicious options that set the perfect tone for the day. The combination of outstanding service, helpful recommendations, and a welcoming atmosphere made our stay at Evodia Luxury Rooms an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special place to stay."
Residenza Già Antico Forno
"AVOID! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!! I chose this place based on the positive reviews and beautiful photos, but in my opinion they're all fake... the reality is a nightmare! Dirt, sewer smell, ants, 19th-century air conditioning that didn't work (it felt like a tractor in the room). Stains... on the bedspread and sheets that were otherwise clean. The owner was uncooperative and hostile. Terrible experience."
Casale Delle Piane
"The unpaid amount of 8 euros was placed under the lamp in 10 euro notes."
Le Dodici Lune
"This was my second visit to Le Dodici Luna and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and the lovely, spacious room. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Matera. I also think it is worth staying at least two nights so you have time to see everything. The included breakfast is great and includes homemade yogurt."
Il Casale di Maria
"The true added value of this place is Sunday. Available, solar, gentle, ready with advice and information to help your guests. Cosy and super clean rooms, everything really inexpectable! Advisory!"
