"I was in Monaghan for the Treinfhir clan Gathering. Stayed at the 4 Seasons and I was delighted with the hotel . Staff were super helpful , we arrived early ( 12 noon) due to the ferry crossing times but the Reception staff checked us in immediately, great service The room was excellent, the Spa facilities and pool were a fantastic bonus to us. Food was , well , Irish....well cooked , generous portions and very tasty!"

"Unfortunately the afternoon tea did not hit the highs we had hoped for this time. Having been in the past the experience and quality has significantly gone down hill Firstly they used to present a lovely tea chest with different tea types to the table for you to choose which one you would like to try. This is no longer the case just a menu on the table with a very limited range of bog standard teas. The tea is not even leaf tea just a tea bag dumped in a pot of water not the most elegant choice for afternoon tea. My cup was filthy and I had to ask for it to be changed. The sandwiches packed any imagination and honestly coronation chicken has had its day it is okay for a finger buffet but not afternoon tea. The smoked salmon and egg and cress were just as underwhelming. There are so many delicious flavour combinations you could use for sandwiches these are basic and unappealing. The scones were nice as was the cream but the butter was rock hard and was difficult to spread. The sweet selection did not hit the mark rather stale and uninspiring the lemon cake contained no lemon just a tiny blob of lemon verbena cream on top. The rhubarb and custard shot had absolutely no flavour once you got past the rhubarb topping and the custard had a bland unpleasant consistency. There was absolutely no hint of wild flower or lavender in the meringue and macaroons all had the bottom glaze missing . Only thing I can say is it is not an expensive afternoon tea so I suppose you get what you pay for. We actually had to get up and go to the bar to order more drinks despite staff being present they never came over to see if there was anything we needed. There was a gentleman who greeted us and he did come over once to see if everything was okay but after that we were not asked again. Unfortunately it falls below the standard one would expect for afternoon tea. If you are just looking something cheap and cheerful and service and quality does not matter this would be ok."
