"You pay 10 euros per day for paying at the hotel. It is not indicated anywhere on the front page of trip. The parking spaces are so small that damage to your car is inevitable. For 265 euros per night you can't even get a free bathrobe. You have to rent one. For exactly the same thermal bath in Aachen a few kilometers further you pay 1/3 of this price and then you have a cottage and while I am writing this review the price has dropped by 23% (60 euros) within a month. In short, you are quickly riled up again. What a bunch of scammers"

"I frequently visit this cafe, and I've let a lot slide, but this will be my last time. The waitresses are consistently rude and unpleasant. It appears that as a non-Dutch student, I receive different treatment here. I've observed the waitresses being bubbly and kind to other customers, but their demeanor changes drastically when they approach my table, their smiles quickly disappear. This has happened not just once or twice, but consistently, which clearly indicates a problem."

"Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Because the building is a bit older, it is a bit noisy. Not a major drawback, but good to be sure about this."

"I stayed here for 5 nights. The hotel is in a good location. It’s close to the train station. The closest park is 6 min walk from the hotel. The amenities can be requested from the front desk. The room is small but sufficient for a one person traveler. The bed is a single bed and quite small. The bathroom is also small. The shower section is partitioned by a glass but it covers only 50%, so the water will splash outside the shower section when you take a shower. The floor is usually wet after a shower. At the lobby, there is a meeting section, you can have a business meeting there. Coffee is also free at the lobby. Recommended for business trip. Not many restaurants nearby, but there are many restaurants in the 10-15 minute walking range."

"Front desk staff was courteous and professional. The corner room on the ninth floor had a great view. Open bathroom is a little strange and toilet is extremely small. Compared to other van der Valk properties this one ranks much lower than others. Very slow internet, little choice of TV stations, no streaming services etc."

"When we arrived around 11 pm, there was no one at reception. After a phone call, I was let in and had to have my room key programmed over the phone. The first room we were given hadn't even been cleaned. After a second phone call, we were given a different room. Unfortunately, this room was very cold; the heating didn't work well. It was very uncomfortable to sleep. The location is excellent."

"I recently stayed at Vertoef, drawn by its promising location and amenities. Unfortunately, the experience fell short due to the unsettling atmosphere and the owner's approach to human interactions. Despite the convenience of parking and the allure of it's location, the environment within Vertoef felt tense, with staff seemingly on edge. This tension was exacerbated by the owner's demeanor; witnessing him raise his voice at people was discomforting. My interactions with him felt disingenuous, particularly when I observed a preferential treatment towards guests who appeared more wealthy. For instance, a few years back, when I visited with my family, who may at times adopt an appearance that could be interpreted as more affluent, the treatment we received was noticeably warmer. It's worth noting, however, that the accommodations themselves were quite basic, underscoring that the establishment isn't necessarily targeting a higher-end clientele. All of this contrasted starkly with a previous stay at an Airbnb in the building next door (similarly colored balconies), where the relaxed atmosphere and fair treatment made for a much more enjoyable experience without sacrificing the benefits of location. In sharing this, my hope is for Vertoef to reconsider the importance of genuine hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring all human beings feel valued and respected."
