"I recently stayed for 5 nights and had a great visit. The place is immaculate and quiet. My bedroom was very large with a window and a huge bathroom with large fluffy towels. The breakfast was generous with assorted meats, cheeses, fruits, juices and coffee. The location is conveniently close to the beach, shops, cafes and restaurants. Otranto is very walkable and this is a great location with a kind, helpful staff. The owner arranged an airport pick up and return for me. Brindisi airport is 100 kilometers away and my arriving flight was st 11pm and departure was at 6am so this was an enormous help."

Hotel Porto Badisco

"I'll try to be diplomatic. This was the end of the tourist season. Still, the room was listed as available and breakfast was offered. Arrived and the place was locked. Went to Il Valiero restaurant per the instructions on the door and the woman let me in the hotel. Fine. She said breakfast was between 7:30 and 8:00 per my request. Went to Il Valiero that night. Lights were on and the door was open. Two tables full of employees were sitting around. They talked and decided not to serve me dinner. Just like that. Went to bed hungry. Next morning, breakfast was a disaster. Cake was moldy (!) and no drinks or coffee. C'mon, I get it that this is southern Italy and you all are lazy and don't care after the end of September, but don't offer a hotel room if you don't want to serve customers, ok? "

Masseria l'Uliveto Agri Resort

"We ate at this uninspiring masseria on August 15th. We were there with a group, and I don't want to completely blame the masseria. They didn't come back to our table with anything, made a fuss about water, and charged us for a liter of wine in a carafe, which we asked for extra. In my opinion, it would be better if they didn't accept groups unless they could provide decent food—and I repeat, decent, no, not much else. Furthermore, eating under one of the pergolas in the heat it was, didn't seem like the right thing to do. As for the rest, I don't know, but I can say that the atmosphere seemed well-kept in every way."

"We used the campsite with a caravan. The place is charming, with attentive and friendly family management. At the end of July, we paid €28 per night on promotion; otherwise, the price for that period was €33 per night, with a crew of two adults, a child, and three small dogs. The electricity is 6 amps. There's outdoor parking for one car. The small campsite is nestled among the trees. The common areas and children's areas are immaculately kept. Breakfast is available for €10, with a buffet and a hot drink (the homemade tart is delicious, worth it). I would have given it my all if it weren't for the amenities. The restrooms were clean, but the cost of a hot shower was very high—a token cost €1 for less than two minutes. The problem was that in five days, we never had hot water. And the child preferred to shower in the caravan. To avoid waste, even the dishwashing sinks had push-button drains, but some were so short they wouldn't even wet a sponge, while others barely lasted long enough to rinse a fork. If these things were improved (hot shower water and more time spent on dishwashing), the place and staff would be absolutely perfect. I forgot to mention that you can buy home-grown vegetables, which are excellent, and there's a corner selling locally published books, which is truly interesting."

"Extremely peaceful and welcoming place, in the countryside of Otranto. Very comfortable room with all the necessary amenities. The restaurant is stunning with very attentive and friendly service from Deni, Danielle and Prabh. The highlight was the grilled fish of the day accompanied by delicious white wine from Puglia! The internet leaves something to be desired, but I was able to watch videos on YouTube without much difficulty. If you are looking for peace of mind with refined elegance, I recommend it!"

"Impressive looking hotel with superb quiet location by the sea. Friendly helpful reception staff, good sized classic rooms,excellent restaurant with good quality food, near olympic sized swimming pool and very pleasant private hotel beach. Beautiful seaside and nature walks both directions( and also noddy train to hotel beach and back) could be organised to the nearest village Lawn tennis ,padel and beach tennis (never quite mastered!) run by Michael the tennis,dancing and general afficianado-special thanks to him and also to Erica for her excellent conversations in english,general friendly personality and stunning photography. Thanks to too many to mention- all the friendly bar staff and the morning beach stretching class woman especially."
