"Another stay at The Kings Arms this time with friends over Easter Weekend and I can’t talk highly enough about the stay. We arrived and were welcomed by a live singer, BBQ and glorious sunshine in the beer garden where everyone was in high spirits. They even had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids which was a nice touch. A shout out to the front of house staff who ran about after everyone and made sure nobody was missed out on at the bar or outdoors. Food was amazing, rooms had plenty of space and place has really been done up nice. More than happy to be at the One Year anniversary of The Kings Arms reopening and I’ll certainly be visiting again soon"

"The Norcroft Guesthouse is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Helvellyn. It was the perfect spot to rest and prepare for the long journey ahead. Mark and Paula’s hospitality was exceptional; they were incredibly welcoming and attentive to my needs. As a Muslim, finding permissible food can sometimes be complicated, but their ideal vegetarian breakfast completely removed that worry. It was delicious, simple, and incredibly convenient—they even packed it as a takeaway when I was running short on time! The rooms were spotless, smelled wonderful, and the overall amenities were excellent. There was also a peaceful space where I found it comfortable to pray, which added a special, thoughtful touch to my stay. The pricing is fantastic compared to other hotels in the area, offering a much better alternative with a truly unique charm. Thank you, Mark and Paula, for making my trip to the area so memorable. "Amongst the lakes, I thought Ullswater is the nicest in terms of view and serenity. Macdonald Leeming House has a peek view of the lake, together with a big grass patch. I opted to upgrade to a lake view room as the other side faces some shrubs, I was told. Room size wise is decent. For the price, I expected a bit more amenities like shower cap and slippers. The hotel was not receptive as there were no replies to my queries sent to the email listed on their website and through trip.com. When I clarified, the reception said the address I sent to were invalid? I did not like the food at the Regency Restaurant. Options were limited and my ham steak was over salty."

"The good! Lovely pub/hotel with lots of character. Wood burner in bar very welcoming on a cold evening! Excellent quality breakfast. Interesting menu but didn’t stay for a meal. The ‘not so good’! No receptionist so reliant on bar/kitchen staff for check in/out. Bar was crowded on arrival and we were ignored until I fought through the throng to get the attention of the bar staff. The room was delightful (Room 2) except it was stone cold with no heating on….. the barman rectified the situation (at 1815) but on returning to the room the heating was off again at 2100! Heating stayed off overnight and had to ring the night manager number to ask for it to be put on in the morning. The bed was a great size but the mattress was hard and bumpy!"

"Avoid Penrith dirty and smelly with rude staff air conditioning full of mold so bad we left when alternative room was as bad. Apparently Premier Inn do not feel that a refund is justified despite the fact we were so disgusted by the state of the place we left."

Probably thanks to the warm welcome and ambience of the rural setting, we quickly relaxed and forgot about the stressful journey from down South. Perhaps this was why I found myself chatting at length with another guest. Sharing accounts of previous of travel difficulties was liberating and lifted my spirits - what a pleasure it was. And what a great advertisement for Lane End Farm ! We will certainly stop here again."

"Host Vickie of Abbey House B&B definitely made our first trip to Penrith a truly memorable experience. She was prompt with our pre-arrival queries. We love our suite with the "Thoughtful Drawer", bathrobes and delicious breakfast spread. Bonus is also its convenient location to train and bus stations for day trip to Lake District as well as walking distance to village squares with quaint local-owned artisanal shops, markets, and diners. We wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. Thanks Vickie! ❤️"

"I had a one night stay after a days walking in the fells. On arrival I had a the most warm welcome from the owner and felt at home straight away, she also gave me useful info about parking and directions to a local restaurant where I was meeting friends. My room was clean, warm and comfortable with pleasant decor, tea and coffee and modern en suite. It was easy to come and go and just 2 mins walk from the main street, bars and restaurants. I pre-ordered a full English breakfast which was delicious and served in nice surroundings. Overall a very pleasant experience, I’ll stay here again, thank you "
