"We recently dined at the Black Bull in Sedbergh for our honeymoon, which we had noted on the booking in advance. Unfortunately, this was never acknowledged during the evening and, for such a special occasion, even a simple congratulations would have been appreciated. The food itself was excellent and we really enjoyed the quality of every course. We also ordered a bottle of wine costing over £100 and, given the impressive wine list, we were expecting the wine service to reflect that standard. We were therefore surprised that during the meal we were never approached to have either our wine or water topped up. While the meal itself was very good, the service felt less attentive than we had hoped for and this made the service charge feel difficult to justify. Overall, the food was excellent, but the overall experience did not quite match the standard we were expecting for such an important occasion."

"After seeing some of the reviews on various platforms I had my doubts but there was no need. I must say this is the best food we've had for a very long time , very tasty indeed. Staff were absolutely brilliant, vast selection of real ales on tap and the food was spot on. Succulent scampi prices, proper home cooked chips to die for, a ram packed steak and ale pie plus the Cumberland ring were all fabulous. Literally can't fault this place and it should be busier. 👌"

"All staff were friendly and helpful. Only issue was where the fridge was turned off it caused all ice in freezer to melt making the fridge flooded when we arrived. However staff were quick to help solve this problem."

"The location of the hotel is excellent just off the M6, so nice for a stop over. The scenery around is so beautiful. I phoned the hotel a day before and asked about Toiletries, Towels and Air Conditioning. I was told Toiletries are included and Air Conditioning is available but Towels not provided.  When we arrived, we found Towels were there but no Air Conditioning in rooms. The hand wash and shower gel bottles were there but empty.  Luckily fan was provided in the room. The carpet and furniture is a bit run down. If you get a deal for £40-50 for the night it might be ok for a night stopover but £135 was overly charged unfortunately because a last minute booking but it is not justified."

"Room was bigger than the usual and was very clean. Staff were good and helpful when necessary. Had one eveninv meal (burger and chips) which could have been better but breakfast was of a good quality. I would definitely stay here again. Price was good to"
