"Last day of our visit here and there’s plenty of room to improve but still enjoyable. First time trying Izmir (normally Alanya is the spot) and i must say it is totally different than Alanya. Hotel’s 20 minutes away to the town and if you don’t haggle you gonna get robbed (as expected) The hotel’s pool bars are insufficient and when its busy you wait ages to get a drink. Silent pool is the best if you don’t have any children, bar is quicker and sunbeds are comfier. Lobby bar has the best cocktails and its way peaceful than other places. Hotel itself is pretty clean except for the rush hours around the pool but it is acceptable. Entertainment and the team is open for improvements, night shows are decent but we expected way better after seeing other places. The team was a total shock, barely any of them communicates with you and im not even sure if they can speak english, we heard two of them and one only knew couple of words and probably didn’t understood what he was hearing, two is the microphone girl which was loud and unbearable. Thursday night dance show was ace and fireshow was amazing. Unless you wanna do something other than watch the shows (its all same every week) there’s pretty much nothing to do other than having a drink in Irish pub or lobby bar. Overall its decent but won’t visit again. 4/10"
Palm Wings Ephesus Beach Resort
"We've just returned from a week at the Palm Wings Ephesus resort. This was our first all-inclusive holiday so we didn't really know what to expect. The hotel seemed fairly modern with a very open and spacious feeling. We had booked a family room with swim up pool, which was well worth the small additional cost we paid. The rooms were a good size, although would have benefited from additional indoor seating. The bathroom had a huge walk-in shower which was great. The hotel faces onto the beach and it was only a few minutes walk from our room. The biggest issue at the beach was the amount of cigarette butts left everywhere. Smoking in Turkey is really common and it felt like every guest, bar us, was constantly smoking. The pools and waterpark were well maintained and the site was really well kept. Immaculate grass areas and plants. The hotel was loud though. During the day there was constant bassy music from the activities pool, and most of the evening entertainment ran from 9:30pm to midnight. If you were tired you just had to wait until it stopped. Unfortunately some of the guests would come home late and make a lot of noise. The restaurant was good, a wide range of choices, but a lot of them were quite watery. My kids are a bit fussy and lived off the chicken goujons and fries (they were amazing). The restaurant did get busy and not all guests are accustomed to queuing, be ready to get your elbows out and protect your personal space. Having only ever been self-catering before this was a bit of a shock. Unfortunately I contracted a stomach bug whilst at the resort. The resort was very popular with Turkish, German and Russian guests, there weren't many other British guests. The staff were amazing, really attentive and helpful, remembering our names and genuinely seeming to care. Tipping was almost expected though so bear that in mind. Finally on the subject of service, Kelly, the in-house guest relations lady was brilliant. Answered any questions we had, sorted out minor problems, and helped get me some over the counter type meds when I became ill. She really helped make the holiday great."

Ephesus Hitit Hotel Restaurant
"PRELIMINARY NOTE: I didn't choose this hotel myself; it was a stop on a package tour of western Turkey from Istanbul down to Antalya. I don't know the actual hotel rate for my stay, so I can't really comment on the value for money. LOCATION: It's located on the outskirts of the small town of Selcuk. It's right next to a busy highway and near a gas station. It took me about 20 minutes to walk to the center of Selcuk at a leisurely pace. There's hardly anything around the hotel. So, if you want to go shopping or have some variety, you should head into town. There you'll also find the Selcuk Fortress on a hill. FACILITIES/SERVICE: The reception was friendly and uncomplicated, and the lobby and public areas made a good impression. I didn't use the outdoor pool or spa facilities, so I can't comment on them. Our tour group was also only there for one night, like the vast majority of guests. The ancient site of Ephesus is nearby, and Selçuk itself isn't a touristy place, so most people come "only" for Ephesus, and the next day the many tour buses move on. Wi-Fi is free, fast, and reliable. There's a bar in the lobby as well as a lounge area. There are two small elevators. The breakfast and dinner selection is limited, offers a basic variety, and is acceptable by Turkish standards. The staff is attentive and friendly. ROOMS: My double room with two single beds for single occupancy was on the first floor – unfortunately facing the street. You can hear the cars, especially when it rains – and it did rain. The windows are single-glazed, and the window and door frames are very thin, like sheet metal. There's no ceiling light, only wall lamps, which makes the room rather dim. The TV is flat-screen but small. There's no safe, only a very old key-operated model languishing uselessly in the dilapidated wardrobe. There's no luggage rack or anything like that. Instead, there are quite a few scratches on the wall. There's a small balcony, a small refrigerator, and two complimentary 0.5-liter bottles of water. It's also a plus that there's no carpet; I don't like rooms with carpets. I find them unhygienic. I personally found the mattress quite hard, but they definitely didn't skimp on the fabric softener for the towels. The bed linens are okay. The rooms are a bit noisy. CONCLUSION: Well, if I had planned to visit Selçuk and then Ephesus on my own, I would have chosen a hotel in the center. This one, as mentioned, was a pre-planned stop. It's okay for one night. The areas I saw and used were in good condition, the staff was friendly, and the food was decent. If you decide to eat there, I recommend asking for a room at the back, away from the main road and the buses that stop right outside."

"Everything was fine until a few hours after checking out, I discovered my necklace was missing from the room. I immediately contacted Ctrip to inform the store that it wasn't there! I'm absolutely certain the necklace was on the table in the room; I took it off when I was applying sunscreen. The Bulgari fan has diamonds, it's very conspicuous, there's no way it would have been thrown away as trash! The store's behavior is truly unethical."

"We stayed for four nights in this small town of Selcuk. This hotel has a good location, it is walking distance to Selcuk Otogar, local bus stop, saturday market and Selcuk Muzeum. Isabey Camii and Basilica of St John are within walking distance from this hotel. The famous Ephesus Archaeological Site is just 5 minutes drive using a local bus. The room is spacious and the beds are comfortable with clean bedsheets. Two bottles of mineral water are provided daily. A good breakfast is provided including boiled egg, cheese, steamed potato, bread, fruit juice, tea, etc. The environment is quiet and peaceful, it is enjoyable to stay here."

"We stayed here for several days with our family and friends at the end of August, and the best way I can describe this place is simply: a little paradise in the mountains. There is something very special about the atmosphere here. Beautiful mountains, incredible views, peace and quiet, fresh air, a lovely swimming pool - you immediately slow down and start enjoying the simple things. One of my favorite memories is picking fresh figs straight from the trees and eating them right there. Such a small thing, but somehow it perfectly describes the feeling of this place. The staff were absolutely wonderful - incredibly warm, attentive and genuinely hospitable. We felt very well taken care of throughout our stay. Whatever we asked for, they always tried to make it happen. It never felt formal or forced; it felt as though everyone genuinely wanted us to be happy and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, and having breakfast surrounded by those beautiful views was a pleasure in itself. The location is also very convenient. Şirince, with its charming little streets, restaurants and atmosphere, is only about 5–10 minutes away by car. Selçuk is also easily accessible, so during the day you can explore the many historical sites in the area, visit Ephesus, have dinner in town, and then return to the peace and beauty of the mountains. And I think the end of August and beginning of September is a wonderful time to stay here. The days were warm and very comfortable for spending time outside, while the evenings and nights were pleasantly cool. We came for a few days and left with such warm memories of this place and the people who took care of us. Beautiful nature, wonderful views, delicious breakfasts, genuine hospitality and that rare feeling of complete peace. I would very happily come back again. Thank you for making our stay so special!"
