The rooms were cozy and clean, with thoughtful touches that made me feel right at home. Beyond that, Dengba Inn gave me something more valuable than comfort—it gave me a sense of belonging.

GGuest UserThe biggest problem was the people who stayed because they ate and didn't clean their own garbage and left it for the cleaning person to clean, it's absurd, as a person doesn't collect their own garbage, it left the place dirty, but the location was good. It is not possible to make friends since the guests are Chinese students and workers. The boy at the reception at night is a nice person

PPato LuI stayed for one night at Dengba Inn and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The location is excellent—just a few meters from the Zhenxin New Village subway station, which made it very easy to find and convenient for getting around Shanghai.
The hostel has a spacious common area that’s clean, well-lit, and perfect for relaxing or socializing with other travelers. It gave the place a cozy, welcoming vibe.
My room was also larger than expected for a 6-person dorm, with plenty of space to move around and store luggage. The bed was soft and comfortable, and although I had to make the bed myself (which was a bit unusual), the bedding was clean and neatly stored inside the locker along with ample space for my belongings. Once set up, it felt very homey and private.
Bathrooms and shared facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the whole place had a relaxed, backpacker-friendly atmosphere. Staff were polite and helpful, although I didn’t need much assistance during my short stay.
For budget-conscious travelers or those looking for an easy, comfortable place to stay near public transport, I’d highly recommend Dengba Inn. It offers great value for money, with clean rooms, a fantastic location, and a chill vibe that makes it easy to feel at home—even if just for a night.

GGuest UserThe price is cheap and the expectations are not high, but I didn't expect the king-size room to be in such an environment. The sound insulation is very poor, and the footsteps outside can be clearly heard. At more than seven in the morning, the construction workers were communicating outside, and I was woken up and couldn't sleep.
The multi-person berth is on the first floor outside, and it won't pass here, which may be better than this.
The door of the king-size room is right under these scaffoldings, and I have been considering it carefully recently.

GGuest UserThe hostel it isn’t in the main center but with just two metro line (line 2 and line 14) you can reach all the main attraction of Shangai, without taking too long. I tried two different room (because I add one more night once I arrived at the hostel) and the second one was very comfortable (the share room with 4 bunk bed and a private bathroom). The “patio” outside was very nice to read some books, have a dinner or just chat and take some fresh air.

GGuest UserI had the small single room, which was very nice as a solo traveller - clean and simple. The bathroom's cleanliness was however quite questionable. The toilets were not cleaned regularly enough (overflowing trash cans and horrible odors at times), the sinks had not been thoroughly cleaned for a long time. Long-term residents leave their stuff everywhere and no one cleans up after them.
Apart from that, the staff was always nice, there are shared areas for hanging out, washing machine, water dispenser, and the option to buy water/ soft drinks at the reception and a vending machine downstairs. Toothbrush, slippers and disposable towel were provided.

GGuest UserThe room was spotless and the environment was just as depicted in the photos. They even put a pleasant air freshener in the bathroom. Considering its city center location, the price and cleanliness offer excellent value for money. I had a very comfortable stay.

GGuest UserGreat location right by the metro. The entrance was a bit hard to find but it is right to the right of the police station. The hostel overall didn’t seem super clean but fine, my room however had a bit of a smell, maybe because of someone eating something but I’m not sure. The bed cubicle was pretty clean and the light up mirror was a great feature. The mattress was pretty thin and hard but comfortable for me. For any western travelers, be aware that there are no regular toilets as with a lot of hostels in China. All in all it was a cheap and convenient stay for a few nights but it wasn’t a great experience.
