Waiting Hotel(Shanghai Bund Yuyuan Subway Station)

The hotel's hygiene was quite concerning. There were mosquitoes everywhere, and my child ended up covered in bites, with five prominent marks on his face! To make matters worse, upon entering the room, we found a wet towel left on the bathroom floor. The overall experience was really poor. However, the front desk attendant was quite helpful.

The hotel boasts a prime location, just an 8-minute walk from Yu Garden Metro Station. Right next door, there's a fantastic Lanzhou Lamian restaurant with delicious food – the Roujiamo (Chinese burger) is an absolute must-try! Plenty of other small eateries and a pharmacy are also just a few minutes' walk away, making it incredibly convenient. I stayed in room 305. The elevator requires a key card for access, which is a great security feature. My room was spotlessly clean, compact yet thoughtfully designed, featuring a modern wet/dry bathroom separation and a sensor toilet. The shower pressure was excellent. The only drawback was that all rooms face the street, leading to some noticeable street noise at night. However, the staff promptly provided earplugs, which made a significant difference.

I checked into this hotel around 2-3 AM on June 22nd. I ended up extending my stay for another night because it was conveniently close to where I needed to be the next day. The price jumped by 50% for the second night, but we weren't informed about renovations beforehand. When we left our room and went downstairs, the hallway was filled with construction noise and sawdust, making it impossible to breathe properly. However, out of understanding that running a business can be tough, we didn't raise any questions or complaints whatsoever. We just thought we'd endure one more day and then leave without making a fuss. On the first day, we arrived so late that housekeeping woke us up while we were still sleeping. They knocked loudly, saying they needed to clean, but we just asked for fresh towels and told them not to bother cleaning the room. Then, the main drama unfolded. That evening, a local friend from Shanghai came to see me about something. Since there was nowhere to sit in the lobby, I suggested we talk in our room. Earlier that morning, when I was with my child and needed an umbrella in the rain, the staff at the door had been completely unhelpful. Now, this same staff member suddenly appeared and declared, 'You need to register!' Her tone was immediately abrupt and aggressive, so I retorted, 'If you hadn't overheard us talking, you wouldn't even know who we are, let alone ask for registration!' She shot back, 'Well, I hear you now, and you still need to register.' Given all the prior accumulated issues, I was already feeling pretty fed up. My tone wasn't perfect, but it certainly wasn't rude; it was simply the natural frustration of someone being inconvenienced. If management doubts me, they can check the CCTV footage. However, my friend remained very cooperative, asking how we could resolve this, how to register, and if it would be okay to just provide an ID number and phone number since we didn't have our physical ID with us and were about to leave anyway. The staff member immediately flatly refused, saying, 'That's not an option. If you don't register, I'll call the police and report you to the Public Security Bureau.' My temper truly flared up. I challenged her, 'Go ahead and call! What kind of service is this, using the police to pressure us over a simple registration? Fine, call them!' And she actually dialed 110, claiming there were people refusing to register. My friend also lost his temper, telling her, 'Don't twist our words! I've been asking you for solutions on how to register without an ID, if there are other options. What do you mean 'refusing to register'?' A security guard nearby continuously tried to calm her down, suggesting, 'Just let them register by taking a photo and noting their ID number and phone number. No need to argue.' But she was too stubborn and hot-headed, and still insisted on calling the police on guests. Ultimately, the police weren't needed. We registered using the security guard's suggested method. I didn't want to continue arguing because I had my child with me, and who knew what further extreme actions she might take if we kept pushing? Plus, my friend genuinely had something important to discuss and no time to waste. I've worked hard to earn my Ctrip Black Diamond status, and I've stayed in countless hotels, from budget ones costing over a hundred yuan to luxury ones costing thousands. Never once have I encountered such an appalling front desk staff member. If management believes I'm at fault, I urge them to review the surveillance footage and see how she actually spoke. Is this really the communication and service standard expected in the service industry? Furthermore, while 498 RMB might not be considered expensive for a room on the Bund, the facilities and room size certainly don't justify that price. What's worse, you placed us in a renovation zone without any prior notice! Normally, I don't even have time to write positive reviews, let alone negative ones. But this experience was truly disgusting and utterly unacceptable. I literally sat up in bed in the middle of the night, remembering I hadn't left a bad review, and felt compelled to come here specifically to write one.
