Li Yuan Hotel (Shanghai Hongkou Soccer Stadium Store)

The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Front desk staff was rude when I wanted to check in, his attitude was like I owed him money or offended his family. Next the room itself was dirty, stains on the floor and wall, floor tiles were cracked and there were hardened residue on the table. Towels not only had a few holes like a floor rug, it also had a weird smell. (Smelled abit like porridge? I’m not sure how to explain that smell) Gym was in a mess, nobody tidied up and most of the equipments were damaged (barbells chipped so it’s lighter than the original weight) Washing machine had a seriously weird smell. I had to wash once on an empty load to get rid of the smell, also look at the placement of the washing machine in the toilet u can’t even fully open it. Even though I had a do not disturb sign because I was unwell, the cleaner still came to knock on my door. Overall lousy hotel, if I could i would have never booked this. Don’t ruin your Shanghai experience ! If u really need to save money don’t go for this.

The Li Yuan is located in a residential enclave in the Hongkou district, which gives a real flavor and experience of old Shanghai.  It is a quick walk out to the Sichuan Road area shops and restaurants, as well as the Duolun Road cultural area, Lu Xun Park, historical areas and Hongkou Stadium.  This is a wonderful area of Shanghai to stay and explore, a bit off the beaten path and well worth a visit.

Very complete place location is great for Hongkou area. I will come back!
