Hotels in New Urban District/ Hanshan Temple, Suzhou

I was extremely satisfied with the hotel's service. The location is excellent, right opposite Lion Mountain Park, with Golden Eagle next door and Longfor Tianjie shopping mall about 800 meters away, offering a wide array of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. Suzhou Museum West Branch is diagonally opposite the hotel; no reservation is needed, you can just queue up to enter. Due to some reasons, the front desk upgraded my room, which was very spacious, and the hardware facilities were visibly several notches above the previous superior room. Although the hotel has been open for many years, everything is well-maintained, and it doesn't feel old or dated. The only minor drawback was that the air conditioning in the room wasn't effective; even at the lowest temperature and highest fan speed, it was still quite warm. I checked the labels on the bath and hand towels, and many were produced in 2021, so they no longer felt fluffy. The view from the Arashiyama Bar on the 27th floor is lovely; it's a great spot to order a set meal and relax by the window in your free time.

The hotel is acceptable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older, as evidenced by the carpets, tiles, fixtures, and furniture. However, it is clean. Although we booked rooms on the non-smoking floor, there was unfortunately a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Unfortunately, Apple Pay is not accepted; only cash or physical Visa cards are accepted. Breakfast was okay, but the selection was not as extensive as we had expected. Overall, the stay was okay, but considering it’s the Shangri-La, it was somewhat disappointing.

This was our first time in Suzhou and we had heard a lot about Somerset through reviews and knew we would have a great time here. Our room was upgraded, but there was an initial challenge around an additional bed, which they got it resolved in some time. The front desk is helpful and speaks and understands some English. We found Adrianna, another colleague of hers and Kenneth very efficient and helpful with our requests. Coco, was very helpful at the restaurant guiding us through where to find vegetarian options during our breakfast. Rooms have the amenities you would need when you come with a family. You can't go wrong with this one! Overall, the kids enjoyed the stay and the location is decent.

Awesome! Everything was perfect in my stay with my family. I arrived in the evening and was looking for dining options only to realise they serve dinner in the hotel so it was convenient. However, they mostly had sea food options so you can talk to the waitress to advise on other options available. It's also close to shopping malls where you can get restaurants. Checking in was fast and they only required to copy my passport together with my family's and voila! The room was spacious enough and they provided toiletries for occupants. You can be provided with an extra key in case you need. The hotel has a nice theme park indoors for kids, quite convenient for families and also have a swimming pool. They also have a luggage storage service and the front desk are bilingual - speaking English. Overall all was well for the one day stay.

Take the children to Suzhou Paradise Water World to play, set a Atour bed room, the hotel front desk Su Xiansu white service is very good, also upgraded the room type for us, continuing the consistent service and quality of Atour. It was late to play at night, and there was a late-night porridge service. It just made the children who had been playing for a day fill their stomachs and went back to the hotel to sleep beautifully. It is also worth mentioning that the book bar on the first floor is also very good. I probably read three books and it was very comfortable. The whole experience is still very good. Next time I go to Suzhou Paradise to play and live here.

Located near the Shushan Ecological Trail, this pet-friendly hotel offers a pleasant environment with individual villa-style accommodations. The property is quite sprawling, so buggies are needed to get around, and staff are prompt in arranging them. It's too hot in summer, otherwise, strolling around would be very enjoyable. The inner lake is filled with lotus flowers, and there's lush greenery everywhere. There were two downsides. First, the nuisance of mosquitoes in summer. We couldn't find an electronic mosquito repellent in the room, and our child got bitten in the middle of the night, so we had to ask staff to bring one. Second, the hotel's pool changing rooms were quite dirty. They weren't cleaned frequently enough, bathroom towels weren't replenished in time, and the floor was covered in hair and water, which was very unpleasant. We hope for improvement.

Five stars all the way! For this price point and environment, the value for money is absolutely fantastic! I chose this Indigo because I hadn't explored this particular area of Suzhou before; I usually stay around Jinji Lake. The roads near the hotel can get quite congested, especially in the afternoon. From my room, I observed heavy traffic even around 7 PM. Navigating the parking garage can feel a bit like walking a tightrope – it requires a little patience and taking it slow. Of course, this isn't really the hotel's fault. Plus, Longfor Central is right downstairs, offering a huge variety of food options. But wow, on a Saturday evening around 6 PM, there were queues everywhere! It felt even busier than any mall in Shanghai. Regarding parking: there aren't many surface spots, so just navigate straight to the underground garage. Level B3 has dedicated hotel signage. There are barriers for entry and exit. The entry barrier won't lift automatically; you need to press the call button on the left. Exiting doesn't require any prior notification. If the dedicated hotel parking is full, you can use the mall's parking spaces. However, when leaving the mall's parking, you'll need to inform the attendant on the first floor. Follow the signs to the hotel elevators. After reaching the first floor, walk to your right, through the mall, and you'll find the hotel's ground floor entrance. From there, take another elevator up to the 46th-floor lobby. All rooms are located below the 46th floor. The city views are generally similar, but the night view towards Shishan (Lion Hill) is particularly special. As for the room itself, it felt a little compact, with most of the space allocated to the dressing room and bathroom. I found the bathroom very comfortable and spacious! If you're staying with a friend, with the door closed, one person can comfortably shower, take a bath, or use the toilet without disturbing the other. You can leisurely soak in the tub, watch a show, enjoy the high-altitude city view, and take your time without feeling stuffy from the steam. The only minor drawback is that for such a large bathroom, a double vanity would have added an extra touch of luxury. While the room isn't huge (it's 40 square meters, which sometimes feels smaller than other rooms of the same size), it had everything I needed. Lying on the sofa, with the comfortable chairs and table nearby, it was very cozy. Perfect for two people to order some takeout and enjoy a drink in the evening. One slight area for improvement was the toiletries. However, I always bring my own, so it wasn't an issue for me personally. For a room costing over 700 RMB, I think it's absolutely worth it! I'd definitely consider staying here again. Had a great experience overall.

As a former resident of Suzhou New District, specifically the Shizishan area, this is my go-to hotel whenever I return. Great location for those visiting this specific area for whatever reason. Maybe not so much if you're just visiting Suzhou, generally, as a tourist. But if you want a quieter but more modern area, with good transport links, restaurants, nice scenery, & quite easy access to the mountains, it certainly isn't a bad choice. Not far from a few temples too, including Hanshan.

This is a brand-new hotel, and the facilities are undoubtedly top-notch. The rooms are spacious, featuring a modern wet/dry separation in the bathroom. The front desk service was incredibly welcoming and attentive. I'm extremely satisfied! Furthermore, its location is very convenient, with fantastic dining options just a short walk away at Wynn Plaza. Excellent!
