Peppers Marysville ★★★★

📍 32/34 Murchison St, Marysville

"After a great morning/Arvo at mountain in snow and was yearning for a hot shower, we (as a couple) were provided two medium sized towels for us both. Hubby got the handtowel. Thoughtless me washed my hair and utilised all our allocated towels. Woopsy daisy. No toothbrushes, no hot choc packets, nothing wow at all _ basic. A bed in a clean room. I wonder if this was because I booked via ***********? The service at brekkie was immaculate, the blonde woman was a breathe of fresh air. Receptionist at check-in and checkout were kind."

Rubicon Hotel Motel ★★★

📍 1362 Taggerty-Thornton Rd, Thornton

"Very nice hotel. The surrounding scenery is very beautiful. The hotel covers a very large area. In addition to accommodation, there are bars and restaurants. The only thing you need to get used to is that the hotel's floor is made of wood and creaks a bit when you walk on it. The lemon tree in the hotel is really good, with a lot of lemons growing there. Just before Christmas, lemons are in season."

Big4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Eildon ★★★

📍 746 Back Eildon Rd, Eildon

"Just a beautiful holiday park. Super friendly staff, great camp sites with lots of shade and grass, extra neat, tidy and clean and that beautiful Goulburn river flowing right at your feet. Awesome wildlife / birdlife around the park too. Great place to just star gaze at night.....my boys saw and learned many constellations that are just not visible in the city, it was a great experience all around. We'll be back...... Top notch!"

Eildon Lake Motel

Eildon Lake Motel ★★

📍 2 Girdwood Parade, Eildon

"Our suite was spacious with a good amount of storage which is convenient when staying more than one night. Eildon Lake Motel is in a quiet area. Even with the lights on the room was a little too dark. The ensuite is very small and rather dated. A handbasin is situated in the main room and doubles as a sink which is a little off-putting. This Motel allows pets in the suites which we appreciated. Cleanliness could not be faulted."

Big4 Taggerty Holiday Park ★★★★
"We recently stayed at this holiday park and unfortunately had a very distressing experience. During our stay, my wife suffered severe food poisoning. It was a very difficult night, especially as we have a one-year-old baby. We chose not to leave the park in the middle of the night (at night the drive could be dangerous especially with a baby), and my wife struggled with her illness until morning. As a result, our baby did not sleep at all. In the morning, despite my wife being extremely unwell, I began feeding our baby and cleaning the cabin as much as I could. I called reception because there were no cleaning products provided in the cabin and I needed something to clean the floor. I received no response, likely because it was before 9am. With a tired and unsettled baby and a sick wife, I still managed to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen area as best as I could. When my wife’s condition worsened, I went to the office to explain the situation. I apologised for not being able to complete the cleaning. The staff member told me, “No worries, we understand your family situation.” I thanked them and left. However, two hours later, $200 was charged to my friend’s credit card who booked this place for us. I wrote to management again explaining our circumstances, but I was told that “personal circumstances” are not considered in their decisions. The lack of empathy in that response was extremely disappointing. I made it clear that I did not object to paying a fair cleaning fee if necessary, but charging $200 after verbally acknowledging and understanding our situation felt unfair and insensitive. This review is not about the money. It is about the lack of humanity and compassion shown toward a family with a sick mother and a one-year-old baby. We did everything we could with the limited supplies provided. There were no proper cleaning products or mop in the cabin, only a small number of tissues. Under the circumstances, I genuinely tried my best. There were also safety concerns in Cabin 40. The rail of the top kitchen drawer (with cutlery) was faulty and collapsed onto my finger, causing injury. The gas cooktop ignitor did not work, and instead, a lighter was left in the cabin, which is unsafe in a small space, especially with a baby present. We will be following up with Consumer Affairs Victoria regarding both the charge and the safety issues. I truly hope management reflects on this experience. Families travel to holiday parks expecting a safe and supportive environment. Illness is not something people can control, but empathy and understanding are choices. If the full $200 cleaning fee genuinely went to the cleaner, I can accept that. Otherwise, it feels like taking advantage of a family during a very difficult situation. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience this."

The Corner Hotel Alexandra ★★★
"We didn’t end up staying after paying $110 for the night. We were shown to our room then shown nearly to the end of a long corridor to a men’s toilet, and told that the ladies were out of order so we’d have to share. I’m a 65 year old lady that wasn’t keen on sharing a man’s shower and toilet. It also smelt very damp so we ended up driving 2.5 hours home instead of enjoying more of what Alexandra had to offer."
