"very very nice place, highly recommend:
- polite staff
- very cute pets in the hotel
- nice and private hot spring
- hotel near sightseeing places
- very yummy dinner and breakfast
- price ok
- enough parking lots
There are dogs and cats walking around the hotel. Please consider if you don’t like animals."
"Cleanliness suffered because there was a sewage stench in the room. After the hotel rectification, there was still a faint smell. It became not noticeable after we switched off the bathroom ventilation. The hotel did call post rectification to check on the condition, hence I gave it a 5 for service."
"This is the best Japanese hotel I have ever stayed in. It is very new. The service attitude is very good. The service staff has been waiting in the parking lot and will call your name accurately when you get off the car. They will confirm and help you carry your luggage. After checking in, you will be given a complete introduction to the room. The room is very large. And it has a sense of design. It should have been designed by a famous designer. The air conditioner is well hidden. Compared with domestic designer hotels. Hotels of this level in China are more expensive. So 2000-3000 a night is worth the money. What's more, you must go to eat the local Miyazaki beef in the last picture. The taste is exactly the same as the beef I ate in Kobe. But I ate Kobe beef for 5000, and here I spent one-tenth of the price of 500, with the same quality. I earned back the hotel money with one meal! ! The address is on the Google map I screenshotted"
"Excellent service. Staff stand on the roadside to welcome us when our 2 cars arrived. Dinner is tasty. There is a small private onshen in our room but unfortunately no public onshen provided. To our surprise, ladies can try on colorful japanese clothes, we really have fun."
"Like this hotel. Lobby is bright and inviting. The japanese style room is cosy and really clean. Breakfast spread was good. Receptionist is able to speak English and was very helpful when recommending the restaurants nearby."
"When I saw where the hotel was located, I immediately knew that I wanted to stay there because I dreamed of seeing Amanoiwato Jinja. I went to the cave twice, in the morning and in the evening, there is a very beautiful road, and it only takes about 20 minutes to walk. It is also easy to get to Takachiho Gorge, the bus stop is a couple of minutes from the hotel.
This was my first experience of staying in a traditional hotel in Japan, and I really liked everything. Delicious dinner and breakfast - I tried a traditional kaiseki dinner, and it was an amazing experience. Attentive, caring hotel staff, perfect cleanliness everywhere, amazing mountain air. Natural wood in the room decoration creates a feeling of warmth and comfort. In the bathroom, you can try Japanese cosmetics. In the evening, you can drink tea, sitting in a comfortable chair with a book. At first, the silence around is unusual, but for us, city dwellers, it is necessary. Since it is dark around, you can see the starry sky - you will not see this in the city. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the traditional Yokagura show in the evening. For someone interested in mythology, this was very interesting.
I did not get the hang of the hot tub right away and I still feel awkward about it, and I forgot to mention that I am allergic to onions, but it is my fault for forgetting to mention it.
I would highly recommend the Ryokan Iwatoya, it was an amazing experience."
"Very nice hotel if you want to experience traditional ryokan. Good services and very close to takachiho gorge especially if you want to go there early. Quiet and calm location too."
"Friendly staff and clean lodging.
We booked half board which was worthwhile as the food quality was great and especially when restaurants close early within the area, saved us looking for dinner. However, there are a few time slots we need to abide to, which is fine as attractions usually are closed by late afternoon anyway.
There is onsen in this accommodation, but it's not big. Enclosed onsen with no external views, and the water has some medical component added thus making the water reddish which may deter guests not accustomed to the color.
The Ryokan location is convenient for walking to a few attractions (for those who enjoy walking about 15-30mins to either attraction), which include Takachiho Kagura performance (pre-booking required), Takachiho Gorge, Takachiho Amaterasu Railway - scenic train ride.
Do note the train rides cannot be pre-booked, and end by 3PM in the afternoon.
And Takachiho Gorge Boat Rental should be pre-booked, with time slot bookings open 7 days before."
"The hotel is far from the main tourist and transport destinations. In 30 minutes, I walked to both the bus station and Takachiho Shrine. It's difficult to do that in the rain.
But this is overlapped by the hotel owner who took me to the Kunimigaoka 🤩 observation deck at 6 a.m. And she also volunteered and took her suitcase to the bus station after my eviction 🥰. I haven't met the sweet hostess of the hotel.
I recommend experiencing this experience of living on the tatami mat and sleeping on a futon."

GGuest UserAbsolutely loved my stay!
I stayed at Hotel Auto Campsite Takachiho and got to try two different rooms – both were amazing! Super clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. You can tell they really care about keeping everything perfect.
The place is surrounded by nature, quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to Takachiho Gorge. It’s the perfect spot to rest and recharge after a long day of exploring or camping around Kyushu.
The staff were kind and welcoming, and the whole place has such a relaxing, friendly vibe. I’d definitely come back here next time I’m in Takachiho – one of the best stays of my trip!
BBlog Место на ЗемлеWe came with friends to relax. You are a wonderful place and for 25,000 rubles (for 2 rooms for 1 night) we were able to rent this wonderful recon. Everything is clean and tidy. They give you an extra brush and razor. You can take instant coffee for free. There are kettles in the rooms where you can boil water. Tap water is drinkable in the rivers. There are traditional robes and towels. In general, everything you need for your comfort. It was very comfortable to sleep. The mats were very soft and we slept just wonderfully. This is a quiet place. In general, the city is quiet. There are not many lights around and in this place you can observe the beautiful starry sky in good weather. I would definitely recommend this place because the administrators who meet me and live in this house were very friendly and hospitable. They gave me a detailed tour and told me how to turn things on and off, for which I am very grateful. This is a wonderful place to relax and the center is within walking distance, including temples. There are also temples in the area from this house.
GGuest UserThe environment is quiet and comfortable, the interior is clean and tidy, and the outdoor open-air hot spring is very much! The food is also good, all the waiters are very polite, and one of the young waitresses, although everyone has a few verbal communication problems, she works very hard to explain, and sometimes uses the translation app on the phone to help communicate, which is worthy of praise! Watching ”Ye Kagura”, because the road is relatively dark, the hotel arranges a car to pick up and give us flashlights. The hotel manager gave us soft cushions so that we can sit on the ground and watch the performance. Very attentive!
