I spent 4 days in Xi'an, staying at a different hotel each night, all of which were highly-ranked luxury establishments. The W, being the most expensive and highest-profile brand, should have logically been the best, but I was profoundly disappointed. The moment I stepped in, I actually thought I had entered the wrong building. The decor was so garish and brightly colored, it resembled a nightclub. I could *perhaps* excuse that as a 'unique design choice,' but the room's cleanliness was simply appalling. There was hair in the washbasin and snack crumbs on the sofa. A complimentary room upgrade during the off-peak season was a definite highlight. The hotel service was truly exceptional; the staff were always proactive in asking if we needed anything. The hotel has a distinctly 'clubby' or 'nightlife' vibe, which my child absolutely loved, happily bouncing around everywhere. It's not a typical family-friendly hotel, and thankfully, there weren't a lot of noisy kids, which was a plus. The W Hotel Xi'an truly goes above and beyond. Traveling with two kids, we were given a complimentary room upgrade, and breakfast for both children was included. The beds were noticeably more spacious than typical hotel beds, which was a huge plus. Even with two children (both around 10 years old), we could all sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. The breakfast spread was excellent, offering a wide variety of options. We particularly loved being able to enjoy authentic Xi'an specialties right at the hotel, including Roujiamo, Youpo Lazimian, Beef Paomo, Lamb Soup, and Hulatang. During our stay, it happened to be someone's birthday, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a surprise birthday cake. This unexpected treat truly made our day! We'll definitely be choosing the W Hotel again on our next visit to Xi'an.
