I stayed at H Niterói Hotel for 4 nights and 5 days, and it was an unforgettable experience.
• Location: The hotel boasts a stunning view of Rio de Janeiro, with iconic sights like Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer visible right from the property. Its prime location adds immense value to the stay.
• Rooftop Amenities: The rooftop is a standout feature, offering a breathtaking pool and panoramic views that are simply spectacular. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Rio.
• Service: The staff at H Niterói Hotel were outstanding—attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring every need was met promptly and courteously.
• Cleanliness: Immaculate housekeeping throughout the hotel, from the spotless rooms to the pristine common areas, was impressive.
• Dining: The restaurant provided a fantastic dining experience, with a diverse menu and exceptional service to match.
• Room Comfort: My room was spacious, well-equipped, and featured large windows that perfectly framed the incredible view of Rio.
Overall, H Niterói Hotel delivers a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and unparalleled views. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience Niterói/Rio de Janeiro at its finest!

Overall, the hotel is very good. However, the late-night karaoke midweek can be a nuisance for business travelers who need a break. The hotel restaurant also leaves something to be desired, as the menu lacks variety and is overpriced for the flavors. Sandwiches and even the meals themselves aren't very tasty, despite their attractive appearance. As the saying goes, ”the proof is in the pudding.” Regarding the cuisine, only breakfast is good. The staff is attentive, and the place is clean.
The hotel staff is kind but it is difficult to find someone speaking English. The rooms are amazing, extremely large, and full of any comfort, but unfortunately, the location is quite penalising. It is in the Centro ( downtime), and this area is very dangerous, full of thieves, homeless, with the roads stincking. You are forced to stay in or move around only with Uber. Otherwise, you risk to be involved in an assault (”assalto”) and get you robbed ( pls wear down, take all your valued belongings in the safe, and use a very low quality phone for directions and photo if you don't want to take risk). Rio is not safe for the tourists in this area.

Excellent!! Beautiful view perfect, the super respectful and attentive staff received us Mateo.
The spacious rooms are comfortable with a colonial style, the room with a perfect sea view, the only thing that was heard a little the noise below that just is a rest.
But all perfect breakfast exquisite and super fresh.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, answering your questions! The food at the breakfast buffet was very varied and delicious, even chia and flax seeds were available! March 8 is International Women's Day, and during breakfast, the restaurant gives each lady a box of cake, which is really thoughtful! The most unfortunate is that the spacing between rooms is too thin, the lady in the next room watches TV until midnight every night, the volume is very loud, making noise, affecting our sleep, fortunately asked the hotel staff to communicate with her, the situation has improved, we do not have to change rooms!
I came to check in around 21:00 and it was quiet and quiet, the attendant wasn't very nice but I understand his side, it was a girlfriend day and it was already at the end of the day, and then I picked up the lift and went to the room. When he arrived there was everything well organized and clean, good shower, quite strong, the bathroom makes a noise due to the pipes, but nothing that disturbs when closing the door, air conditioning ok also, only negative point was the fridge being empty, but they leave It is clear when they deliver the paper at the reception that you need to ask for the drink and that if you prefer, you can bring drinks.
The breakfast was delicious, served in 19th floor with a variety of things and everything was fresh. (I don't know how it is if served in the room).
We did not take advantage of the pool, it was written again on the paper that Monday was a day of maintenance, we gave it to chance.
Finally, I recommend the hotel, I had no problems.

IIza M.RainbowI’d describe this hotel as utilitarian. No decor or warmth at all. The common areas are spacious and quite bare.Table and chairs at the restaurant are plain brown wood, The lobby is sparsely furnished with some worn , drab and very uncomfortable seats. Bathrooms are the same. Just the very bare essentials, not even a box of tissue paper ( and thin toilet paper) We travelled long hours, arrived at 22:00 looking forward to a good shower …not to be. We were up for a bad start. There was just a trickle of water not enough to bathe or properly brush teeth either. That could have been a whole area problem as we were told that water pressure can sometimes drop in some areas of the city. We changed rooms , water pressure wasn’t much better the next day either, the water flow improved just a little and remained as such the whole week. We had paid for 5 nights and ended up staying as the city was packed that week . To go looking for another hotel during the G20 summit which Rio was hosting that week of November 2024 would not be an easy task.
On the positive side, staff was pleasant and accommodating, bed was comfortable and from our perspective, the breakfast buffet was the best feature of this hotel offering abundant variety of food to meet all tastes- cereal, fruits and cheeses, cold cuts, several hot savory breakfast dishes - incl. some Brazilian regional dishes as well, a huge selection of breads, cakes, good coffee, and more. Very satisfying. Including breakfast in the booking is highly recommended.
The good fare offered at the hotel at lunch and dinner not good at all. However, there are also three of four restaurants lined up on a small stretch within 5 min walking distance of the hotel- one of them is a very good authentic European Portuguese cuisine and wine. Aprox. US$ 52 for a meal for two. On the same cluster of shops there is a well established Brazilian cuisine restaurant with a good menu where one can eat well for anything between US$ 12 to US$ 15 and a steak house similar to the Australian Outback steak house.
There are also other eateries snd convenience shops, a pharmacy on the same stretch ( 5 min walk ffrom the hotel) including a 24 hr laundromat where one can expect to wash and dry a load for about
US$ 7.
As for location, this hotel is not close to the most well known districts of Rio - places like Copacabana, Ipanema , Leblon - but Barra da Tijuca is a special area in itself and arguably has the best beach in town. The hotel is just a 10 - 15 min taxi ride to Barra Shopping- the largest and best shopping mall in the whole state of Rio de Janeiro where one can find anything, including restaurants (recommend trying Jappa all you can eat Japanese food spread for US$ 26 as in Nov 2024).
On the whole , when compared with the fashionable and pricey districts of Copacabana , Ipanema Leblon this hotel is good value for money . I’d stay there again if they fixed the shower situation b’cause this feature matters for me.

GGuest UserOverall a nice trip, and a pretty fancy hotel for the price. I would consider it more like a 4**** hotel than a 5 star, personally.
highlights:
- beautiful lobby and view from our room of the mountains, beach, etc.
- kind people at the desk and otherwise. very safe inside even though neighborhood is a bit sketchy at times.
- great bed, windows, bathtub, etc..
- affordable as an american for level of service.
- spa and rooftop restaurant are amazing. gym is great too!
dealbreakers: (may stop me from booking next time)
- wifi was basically broken the entire time in our room, and in the hotel at times. less than 10mbits, and no signal in most of our room. front desk said several times they'd fix but I don't think they have the ability to actually fix it. many other people had this issue as well. at a 5* hotel, this should not be happening. major issue, had to do meetings in the lobby to get it to function at all.
- breakfast is *good* but definitely caters towards a local brazilian diet (very few options for vegans). as a vegetarian, I'll just say I ate a lot of eggs and cheese. but hey, that's brazil so not digging on the hotel too much on that.
- elevator is incredibly busy, and there were times where it literally said ”not available” and we had to wait 5 minutes to actually use it.
- there are *TONS* of families with kids in and around the pool when we went. so environment was quite loud and crazy most of the time. they do timeshares so I think mostly big families frequent the hotel.
- we booked and paid extra for the *Junior Suite* (with a large living room as well as bath). the front desk gave us the *room with bath* which ended up being nice.. but is half the size, and refused to put us in the junior suite room, even after showing the reservation. this may be a Trip.com issue instead of the hotel.. but they didn't offer any compensation or flexibility for us. trip did refund us the difference in price though.
overall, its a great deal for the price, and the architecture is amazing, the room is nice, good water pressure. horrible wifi and very few vegetarian options made it difficult to recommend again, but we liked our stay nonetheless.
AAnonymous UserGreat accommodation! I like staying at the Riale, especially because of its location in Catete, close to the subway and the Museu da República, shops, restaurants, pharmacies and the Flamego park, which is a wonderful tourist attraction in Rio de Janeiro. However, I still think the hotel needs to be renovated. The daily rate does not match the accommodations offered.
The cleanliness is excellent and the breakfast is reasonable. However, when the room key card did not open the door, I had to walk back to the reception through the huge, hot hallways. I stayed in a room with an air conditioner so old that the noise did not let me sleep well. I shared the room with a friend and we could not use the bathroom in private because the bathroom door did not close.
The staff is very friendly, but they forgot some cosmetics in the shower and did not even contact me to let me know, which I thought was rude.
CChristopherWe booked two rooms with the hotel: a junior suite and a standard. The suite was very spacious and opened up to the street. The windows did a good job of blocking sound so the street didn’t disturb our sleep at night. They had a parking garage that charges R$33 per day and was able to accommodate our Jeep Commander.
What is warranting this poor review was the hotel staff. Upon check-in they had informed us that one of our rooms wasn’t paid for even though i had already been charged by the booking agency. He said that we had opted for pay later and they hadn’t received the payment from the booking agency. I told them that my card had been charged by the booking agency but he insisted that it was likely a hold on the card to secure the room. I’d suggested to call the booking agency but he insisted that it wouldn’t be necessary (he didn’t seem worried so I assumed he had experience with this). Come to find that I was charged twice for this room and the booking agency has been trying to get in contact with the hotel for over a week with no response. This seems like FRAUD.
The second issue. Upon checkout of our suite, the lady checking us out requested a gratuity payment for the included breakfast… she estimated that based on the value of their breakfast that the suggested 10% gratuity would come out to R$180 per person. That would make their self-service breakfast be valued hire than Michelin restaurants in the area. She tried to ask the other party that was traveling with us but when I came closer she gave up. I’m wondering if this is hotel policy or if the staff at this hotel are actually running scams from the front desk.
I am still trying to get a hold of them about the double charge.
GGuest UserWe booked this hotel in Nov at an inflated price of $1500 USD for 4 nights assuming there'd be rooftop access on NYE since the hotel website didn't call out a ticketed event for that night. When we arrived, the staff told us it was in fact a ticketed event for an additional $300 USD. Perhaps our oversight but we scowered the website before booking at such a high price and it wasn't there. The manager was very helpful in accommodating a cancellation if needed, ultimately we were too tired to pack and unpack again and waste another day in transit so we stayed and bought the tickets.
Check in is 2pm. We arrived at 1pm and they said they had a room for us. It wasn't ready so we went to the pool where again, service was wonderful. Front desk gave us a tour of 2 rooms to choose from which was great, but then msgd me and said they'd have a diff room ready at 2:30. We went down at 3pm and the room changed yet again and the new room still wasn't ready. We got a room with no apologies at 4pm.
The room was standard. Strong cleaning smell but decent. The shower hose didn't stay in place. The shower drain did not work at all - we had to kick the water to the corner each time for it to drain or pools of water stayed until the next day. The sink also didn't drain. The toilet stopped flushing. We had a plate with one chocolate on it from NYE which by the next day was covered in ants. We are very tidy girls and give some grace for older hotels to have some flaws, but the experience for the price we paid made us appreciate the airbnbs we'd stayed at before checking in here.
Location is great, gym and pool are great, but not worth the $ for NYE or Carnival.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a nice location on the beach, but the property could do with some updates.
The first room I went into had a funny smell, so I reported it to reception. The male receptionist looked at me, and as if he doubted my word
After I insisted, he assigned me a new room, but it was left to me to move my luggage. . No support was offered and I couldn’t be bothered to ask.
I did ask if there would be any complimentary water put in the room. He said he would get housekeeping to put some water, but I’m still waiting two days later.
Power outlets in the room are limited and not designed for modern travel. No USB points.
The TV is old and not smart or Internet connected. There are no cable channels so nearly all of the channels are local language apart from one CNN news channel in English..
The hotel is quite noisy and dogs. The walls are thin and guests scrape furniture across the marble floors. This is relatively easy to remedy if the hotel cared.
The rooftop pool was disappointing as it’s quite small and normally full of kids.
The restaurant is closed after breakfast. There is a bar, but it’s never open..
The biggest problem I had was the Internet. It did not work properly in my room and kept cutting out every few minutes. I had to stand in the corridor or come down to the lobby in order to get any decent coverage. I complained to the staff, but they did nothing and just told me it works.. This was extremely frustrating and I certainly wouldn’t come back to this hotel again.
GGuest UserThis property has the potential to be amazing, but it needs a few key updates. The location is fabulous, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant is great both in terms of service and food quality.
The room was spacious, and the balcony was unbeatable. If you only speak English, you can get by staying here because all of the staff speak excellent English. We encountered a problem when the showerhead broke off, but the repairman came reasonably quickly to replace it, and he was very polite and not disruptive. We ordered room service, and Dom Rio, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered it quickly. I had the filet which was cooked properly to the correct temperature (medium rare). My fiancé had the alfredo pasta which she liked a lot. The breakfast had a huge selection, and everything tasted good.
The only thing keeping this hotel from earning top marks is the general state of much of the decor in the rooms. The curtains look shabby and dirty from moisture, and the wood of the cabinets is warped also. It is very hard to maintain a room that is constantly exposed to salt water and ocean breeze, but the materials chosen have not stood up to age.
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in Barra at a nice but reasonably priced hotel, but don’t expect the finest luxury. Expect a very large, fairly clean room with a comfortable bed and an amazing view.

去去有風的地方The hotel is 390 meters away from Copacabana Beach. The location is good. The entrance to the hotel is right next to the subway station. It is very convenient to use the subway service. There are many choices for breakfast. The price/performance ratio is good. It is recommended to stay.
