This hotel… TBH, I was expecting more. I knew this hotel undergo a rebranding and refurbishment. So I was excited to try the HoJo brand. The room is clean, but not new. Partially you still see fittings from the previous decade. It’s a funny thing to see new and improved features alongside the classic furnitures and appliances. I like the new filtered water faucet. Very convenient. The shower is great too. Good pressure and temperature. Comes with a bathtub. Bed is nice. Room comes with ironing board. Basically everything I would expect from a hotel. Then comes the disappointment. The mini bar is so bulky, and so old. the air cond control… I don’t know what is it controlling. There’s only one dial for temperature. No control for the fan speed or anything. Then the TV, small and a very old model, fitted onto the wall with backlight design. That’s just so funny. And the toilet, the flush is barely working. And cigarette smoke from somewhere is coming in via the ventilators. All things said, it’s still a value stay. I just find it extremely weird. A half-baked refurbishment.

We had a lovely stay at The Luma Hotel. I instantly fell in live with their interior the moment I saw it on social media, more so when we got to experience staying in it. Apart from their impeccably well-thought of interior design, I also appreciate how accommodating their staffs were as well as how convenient the location of the hotel. Would definitely come back once I visit Kota Kinabalu

I expected a great hotel stay and they delivered. All the staff were lovely. Thank you for that. My only issue is the lack of room information regarding what is available in the hotel. Normally I would expect marketing information and menus for restarunt and bar in the room. The TV does give room service menu but was not required. Fortunately we found Ben, the Concierge in the lobby who very kindly explained what we asked, and provided a map for the area. Very welcome. Thank you very much.

The service here is wonderful! The staff are very friendly, and the receptionists are incredibly helpful, making the check-in and stay very smooth. While I enjoyed the hospitality, the breakfast menu was a bit disappointing. It was very basic and lacked any 'standout' dishes that would appeal to tourists. Great service, but the food options need more variety

AMAZING!!!! The staff here! They are so unbelievably friendly and helpful. They truly made me feel so special and welcomed throughout my stay. Especially the ladies at breakfast and the guys at the door. I got the seaview room and that view was breathtaking! Front row seats to that sunset every day! The rooms are very clean and the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooftop bar also has the best view of the sunset in my opinion. Breakfast was great, too- so much choice!

Stayed at Cititel Express Kota Kinabalu recently and had a really pleasant experience! ✨ The hotel is in a very strategic location right in the city center, making it super convenient to walk to nearby food spots, shopping areas, and attractions. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained after the renovation. I also appreciated how peaceful the atmosphere was despite being in a busy area. Staff were friendly, helpful, and check-in was smooth. Great value for money if you're looking for a comfortable stay in KK without overspending. Perfect for both business trips and short getaways. Would definitely stay here again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overall, it's a very good hotel. The environment feels brand new since it just opened. I didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on that. The infinity pool upstairs is decent, nothing spectacular, but the water temperature was great. The daily housekeeping was excellent, very clean! For food delivery, you have to go downstairs to pick it up yourself. My flight was late, and when I asked the front desk, they kindly extended my check-out time until 2 PM for free, which was really helpful. Most of the staff can speak a little Chinese, so communication wasn't an issue. Laundry costs money, though. I wish the washing machines were free to use. The location is great for getting around by taxi – it's close and cheap to go anywhere. However, walking can be a bit tiring.

BBella1994All was good except for the WiFi service. The staff were good. It has no lift by the way and our family room with 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed was on the 2nd floor. Using only stair to lift up our baggage. This facility has it's own parking lot which save our time not to look for a space to park our car.

LLea J.Overall, the stay was acceptable, but there are a few areas that could be improved. This was my second stay at the hotel. Compared to my previous visit, the experience this time was not as good, especially in terms of room preparation and amenities. I booked a Deluxe King Room, which is stated to accommodate up to 2 guests. However, the bathroom amenities prepared seemed to be for one person only. There was no toothbrush or toothpaste provided, which was unexpected. Based on the photos, the toilet paper also appeared to be continued from the previous guest rather than replaced with a new roll. We checked in late at night, and after a long journey, we were already tired. Because of this, it felt inconvenient to request additional items that ideally should have been prepared in the room upon check-in. The water bottles provided were sufficient, but coffee or tea packets were not included. Interestingly, sugar and creamer packets were provided, which felt a bit unusual without the coffee or tea. The TV channels were basic, which was acceptable. Room cleanliness was fine and met my expectations. I would also like to mention that the receptionists in the morning during checkout were friendly and welcoming, which was appreciated. However, the night shift staff felt less warm in comparison. The location is not in the city center, about 10–15 minutes’ drive without traffic, and longer during peak hours. The price this time was slightly higher compared to my first stay, which would have been acceptable if all the basic amenities were properly provided. Considering this, there may be other hotels or Airbnbs nearby that offer better value for money. Overall, the stay was okay, but more consistent service standards and room preparation, especially compared to my previous stay, would greatly improve the experience.

AAlex_CheckInGot you — I’ll keep it balanced and honest, like a real guest who had both good and not-so-good moments. ⸻ I recently stayed at Lintas Platinum Hotel for 5 days, and overall it was a decent stay with a few hiccups along the way. On the first day, check-in was smooth, but unfortunately the first room assigned to me had no air-conditioning and no power. After informing the staff, they arranged a room change. The switch was handled fairly quickly, which I appreciated, and the new room was functioning properly. For the rest of the stay, the room was generally comfortable. The bed was good, WiFi was stable, and air-conditioning worked well (very important in Kota Kinabalu’s weather). Daily housekeeping ensured that water bottles and basic amenities were replenished consistently, which I appreciated. However, there were a few issues during the stay. For the last few days, the bathroom phone kept ringing every evening around 6:29pm. I was quite busy in the mornings and only managed to report it on the last day. The staff checked but couldn’t find any issue. It was a bit strange and slightly disturbing, though thankfully it didn’t escalate beyond that. I also noticed that the towels provided were a bit old, and the housekeeping floor cleanliness could be improved. While the room was generally maintained, the floor didn’t always feel properly cleaned. That said, the staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. Despite a few inconveniences, the overall experience was still reasonably comfortable. With some improvements in maintenance and housekeeping quality control, the hotel could definitely provide a much better experience. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.

GGuest UserOverall the stay was okay and the place was comfortable. The location is good. There's many food courts nearby and very accessible if you want to go to KK town. The main downside is the parking. There was no parking available, which was quite inconvenient. I think this is something that really needs improvement, especially for guests who are driving. Other than the parking issue, everything else was fine. It was a great stay except for the parking. Thanksss

ZZazaKakijalanVery good hotel for a family stay. The kids’ facilities are excellent, especially the swimming pool, which feels like a mini water park and is perfect for children. There are also two playgrounds, giving kids more options whether they want to play or swim. Overall, we are very satisfied with the stay. The hotel also has a 24-hour self-service laundry, which is very convenient. There are nearby shops such as Speedmart and Orange, as well as several food options like Kopi Ping and Ayam Penyet, making it easy to find meals and daily necessities. I would also like to highlight the honesty and helpfulness of the staff. I accidentally left my tablet behind, and the staff contacted me promptly and helped arrange its return. Their service was truly appreciated and made our stay even better.
