Valensole Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Visiting the lavender fields of southern France was a long-time dream of mine, until it finally became reality last summer! The lavender fields bloom in late June to July, and you can best find the in the Plateau de Valensole, which is the “lavender hotspot” of southern France. You might think that the best thing about them is the appearance of purple fields that seem endless, but my highlight was the scent of lavender everywhere in the air. All in all, it is a dream destination that I hope everyone gets to visit at some point in their lives, and if you do, you can find this specific spot by searching for “Arbre coucher de soleil” in your maps. #lavenderfields #southoffrance #france
Visiting Southern France during Summer is like teleporting into another magical world. Provence is one of the most colorful and picturesque places in the world. Especially during the months of July and August.

Today we bring you some tips for enjoying the beautiful lavender scenery in the southern region of France~
Every summer is the best season to admire lavender in southern France. This year is no exception. Why not organize a short trip to southern France during the summer vacation?
Where can I see lavender?
Saenku Monastery (Notre-Dame de
Senanque) Blooming period: mid-June to mid-July
The entire monastery is hidden in a peaceful valley. There are many beautiful pictures of lavender here on the internet, and it is known as one of the "most beautiful valleys in France". Most postcards are taken here~
Valensole
Bloom period: mid-June to the end of July.
Valensole is a large lavender plantation in the world and a filming location for movies and TV dramas such as "Perfume" and "Farewell My Concubine". On the third Sunday of July every year, Valensole town holds the Lavender Festival. In addition to the lavender fields, you can also see the super beautiful sunflower fields in Valensole, southern France!
Sault
Bloom period: mid-June to mid-August
Here is known as the "Lavender Capital", the largest lavender producing area in Europe. The whole town is surrounded by a sea of lavender flowers. The village of Sault retains some medieval alleys, and there are also some exquisite old shop windows in the city.
Lavender Festival:
Each town will hold a "Lavender Festival Fête De La Lavende" celebration during the lavender harvest. Due to different flowering periods in different regions, the time of the lavender festival also varies.
🚎About transportation:
If departing from Paris, it is recommended to take the TGV high-speed train to Avignon first. After arriving in the old town of Avignon, choose to visit various lavender fields according to your itinerary.
Due to the inconvenience of transportation in various villages, it is recommended to drive locally or join a small tour group.~

Moustiers-Sainte-Marie Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Ceramic town, enjoy the midsummer of southern France to the fullest
There are few tourists here, a very niche small town in southern France, especially romantic and beautiful, I really like it here too much.
It's close to Lake Sainte-Croix, you can arrange it in one day.
The whole town is full of colorful stone houses, with a strong medieval style, and you can see handmade ceramic shops everywhere, the prices are not expensive, you can take your time.
Chatting to know that the town has been making ceramics for generations, each small building is a handmade workshop, the first floor is for sale, a girl in her twenties said her grandfather spent his life with mud, and taught her pottery when she was a child.
The town is full of art and stories, which makes people feel comfortable.
A winding stream runs through the entire village, like all traditional Provencal villages, there is drinkable spring water on the street to quench your thirst.
The town is between two cliffs in the Provence region, so it is also called Cliff Town. A huge Venus badge is hanging between the two cliffs, which is the symbol of the town
💐It is worthy of being called the most beautiful village in southern France
🚗But the traffic is really inconvenient, it is recommended to drive here, follow the navigation, parking is convenient.
French Ceramic Town
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, often referred to as the Ceramic Town, was famous for producing a type of white glazed pottery with exquisite designs that captivated Europe for 200 years during the 17th and 18th centuries. The town is dotted with ceramic shops, serving both as the place of origin and a distribution center. In the morning, without the hustle and bustle of crowds, one can truly appreciate the charm of the Ceramic Town. Where does this charm come from? It comes from the details.
Three days and two nights, the stunning Verdon Gorge + Lake Sainte-Croix!
Welcome to the famous Verdon Gorge! In the heart of Provence, there is a route that brings you close to nature. It allows you to shuttle through the gorge, feel the beauty of Lake Sainte-Croix, and experience the ancient town hidden in the mountains.
1. Panoramic route of the northern line.
On the north side, D952 connects Castellane to Lac de Sainte Croix. At the end of this road is the Sainte Croix Lake, which is the main route to experience the canyon. The canyon road is narrow, allowing you to experience the vastness of the canyon and the vertical steepness of the cliffs. Climbing all the way up to an altitude of 700 meters, you may also have the opportunity to see many bald eagles.
2. Panoramic route of the southern line.
On the south side, I also recommend taking the D71 that connects Trigance and Aigines. It runs south along the Gorges du Verdon, and is much quieter with fewer cars than the D952. The panoramic views here are also very beautiful, whether it's at the Balcons de la Mescla on the Martell path or at the pass of Illoire. It's worth stopping and staying for a while.
3. The town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
I am impressed by the beauty and charm of this village, which is located in the center of Verdon Park and ranks among "the most beautiful villages in France". When you first see Moustiers, the first thing that catches your eye is the cliff. The town is built on the mountain, and this small village exudes the atmosphere of Provence: the fragrance of lavender permeates the streets, and the maze-like alleys give you the opportunity to discover beautiful fountains, pottery shops, and more. The Notre Dame de Beauvoir chapel is located between the cliffs, and the climb to the church overlooks the entire town. This is the first time I have felt like I have found a paradise on earth. An impulse to stay.

Four, swimming in Lake Saint Croix.
The Sainte-Croix Lake, built in the 19th century, is an artificial lake known for its emerald green water. I was really fascinated by its color. I sincerely recommend driving around the lake. Along the way, you can see beautiful villages by the lake... such as Bauduen and Aiguines.
On the map, look for the small path down to the lake, have a picnic by the lake, go for a swim, and it's so comfortable. Another important activity on the lake is canoeing, and the boat rental point is at the Galetas Bridge.
No input provided.
Five, travel.
The canyon has no buses, it is recommended to rent a car to go. You can plan to visit Sainte-Croix Lake and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie for one day, and drive along the lake, have a picnic and go boating on the second day. This trip can be combined with Valensole and Grasse to make a bigger circular tour.
Sixth, accommodation.
1. Auberge des Salles is located across from Lake Sainte-Croix. This hotel is very comfortable and offers magnificent lake views!
Address: 18 rue Sainte Catherine, 83630 Les Salles sur Verdon
2. Hotel and Spa des Gorges du Verdon located on the banks of the Verdon Gorge in La-Palud-sur-Verdon. It features a scenic swimming pool, a spa center, and modern decor.
Address: route de la Maline, 04120 La Palud-sur-Verdon Verdon River, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence Valensole, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence Verdon Gorge and Lake Sainte-Croix Auberge du Seigneur des Serres Restaurant des Gorges du Verdon (Hôtel&Spa) Hotel & Spa des Gorges du Verdon
The ceramic town is another miracle of Provence. Looking from afar, it is like a small house that is set on the edge of a cliff. In fact, it is a small town built on a cliff. The arc of the town is very beautiful, like wearing a beautiful wreath on the cliff. With exquisite ceramics, it has been a local ceramics trading center for centuries. To make beautiful art such as ceramics, we must be in harmony with others, so the ceramic town must be a good mountain and a good scenery. Find a delicious pizza here, its just a fascinating experience!

Grand Canyon of Verdon and Lake of St. Croix Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Lake Sainte-Croix, tears of Provence.
In addition to lavender, Provence is also famous for the Verdon Gorge, where the beautiful Verdon River is embedded like a blue ribbon in the winding canyon. Many French people proudly call it the most beautiful canyon. Due to the construction of the Sainte-Croix Dam, the river water is intercepted in the canyon, forming a blue lake, our destination for this trip, Lake Sainte-Croix.
Starting from Avignon, it takes more than two hours to drive through the mountains to reach Lake Sainte-Croix. When standing on the Galetas Bridge and seeing it for the first time, the phrase "tears of an angel" suddenly popped into my mind. Due to the lighting, the lake appeared in a beautiful Tiffany blue color. This is a vacation paradise in the hearts of the French people. There are no fancy water activities on Lake Sainte-Croix, the only expense is renting a small boat from a rental company. Hiking, camping, rock climbing, diving, and kayaking are the mainstream activities here, and in order to protect the environment, the small boats on the lake are all human-powered except for a few electric ones. With the excitement of "this is what vacation is all about", I couldn't wait to rent a pedal boat and paddle on the lake. I recommend going upstream, passing through the Galetas Bridge, and playing upstream along the Verdon River. Looking up, both sides are cliffs, and the clear lake water passes through the steep rock walls on both sides. The towering cliffs block the hot summer sun, and when the boat is docked in a place with abundant water grass, the cool breeze in the canyon instantly relieves the heat. Watching young people climb up the cliffs and then jump into the lake while laughing, I couldn't help but admire the courage of foreigners and how exciting they play. The enthusiasm of the French people is also fully released here.
Tip 1: The boat rental company provides electric boats, pedal boats, and kayaks. Electric boats are expensive and kayaks are not suitable for beginners. Therefore, pedal boats are the safest and most economical option for recreational boating.
2. Whether you know how to swim or not, it is recommended to wear a life jacket when swimming in the lake. The water is deep and cold, and there is a certain degree of danger. Safety comes first when traveling.

Verdon Gorge, dont missed it!
#verdongorge #france2022 #southernfrance
Verdon Gorge is a river canyon in southeastern France. Carved by the Verdon River, it has white-water rapids and cliffs.
It is the wonderful place to be! You can rent subs, paddle boats and small boats with an electric motor. The water is beautiful. You can climb the walls and jump from them but be save and check the deep before!
The Santa Croce Lake is connected to the Verdun Grand Canyon. The Holy Cross River Dam, built in 1974, blocks the Verdon River from the valley and forms the second largest reservoir in France, named the Holy Cross Lake. The entire lake is about 22 square kilometers, and the lake is 90 meters deepest. The blue waters form a beautiful landscape. The crystal clear waters are adjacent to the steep stone walls. The gentle sandy beaches and the green forests are the companions. All the beautiful scenery here reminds people of the wonderland. There are vast cliffs, winding creeks, clear lakes, and even mountains, which is a good place to embrace nature.
