Maastricht: oldest city in Holland

Some people say Nijmegen is the oldest city in Holland, others say its Maastricht. Regardless of that, everyone agrees Maastricht is the most beautiful place in the Netherlands. If you're in Holland you really should pay a visit. Walking through the small but cozy city centre you almost don't know where to look. There are old buildings everywhere, bridges, churches, cathedrals and the old city walls that used to protect the city. The Vrijthof square is a favourite location to sit outside with a drink at one of the many bars and just watch the day go by. While you're there have a look inside the 800 year old St Servaas cathedral. When it comes to food, you will be spoilt for choice, especially for restaurants with a strong French influence.
