Kangtsen is presided over by an elder monk, with administrative staff such as Nianwa and Gegan, managing the administrative, religious, and economic affairs of the ecclesiastical district relatively independently. The eight major Kangtsen of Songzanlin Monastery are: Duke Kangtsen, Zhaya Kangtsen, Dongwang Kangtsen, Rongba Kangtsen, Yangdo Kangtsen, Jiedi Kangtsen, Zhuo Kangtsen, and Xiangcheng Kangtsen. Upon entering the Songzanlin Monastery scenic area, the first thing you see is the Yangtang Kangtsen. The calligraphy inside is extremely exquisite.
