Walking Down Diagon Alley

#citywalk The Shambles is one of York’s most famous places to visit. It’s historic streets have been well preserved since the medieval times with narrow streets and timber-framed buildings. The reason why it is so popular is because it is believed to be the inspiration behind Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley. When we visited, we felt like we were being transported back in time and just like being in the Harry Potter movie. There are Harry Potter themed shop here like ‘The Shop That Must Not be Named’ and a wand shop. So it definitely does have a magical air about it. It does gets extremely crowded here though as seen in the photos so that takes away abit of the fun. The cobbled streets are narrow and not stroller or wheelchair friendly. In fact, as it was so crowded I tripped over a kerb and hurt my ankle. So try to come during weekdays when there are lesser people. However, we absolutely loved this place with all its unique shops and buildings. You have got to visit here especially if you are a Harry Potter fan.
