Labna Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Labna.
Really clean Maya site. It feels very intimate as it's off the beaten path, and you feel like you have the whole place to yourself. Visited here, Kabah, and Uxmal all on the same day. I would recommend getting a guide for Uxmal, but when I visited on December 23rd, there were no guides here. Probably there will be guides on weekends that are not holidays.
Two things stand out at Labna. First, the interconnected roads between the plazas have been fully restored, showing a small part of the vast Maya road construction throughout Yucatan.
Labna is part of the Ruta Puuc, and it was our second stop. Be ready to see a few unexpected things like the god of fertility 😋, and the holes in the ground, which are cisterns that the Mayans used to collect water from the rain, if you visit Merida Yucatan, you must stop at Labna, it is a very interesting archaeological area. Don't forget to use mosquito repellent. 🦟
It's like a magical place where I'm traveling back in time and being part of the exploration of this ancient city. It's hard to get lost because the paths are well marked. You can touch and climb the structures, which makes the place more interesting.
The second is the arch of the residence. Since most arches were used at the city entrance, this individual must have been somewhat important.
