Beautiful Inside View of Bongeunsa Temple
#fallingseason
The wooden statues of the Four Heavenly Kings used to be enshrined inside Cheonwangmun Gate in Bongeunsa Temple. Now, they are enshrined inside Jinyeomun Gate. The Four Heavenly Kings are known as the deities who reside on the mid-slope of Sumisan (Mt.), and guard the four directions and the Dharma. The Four Heavenly Kings are portrayed as armed warriors. They are Vaisravana, guardian of the North holding a lute, Dhrtarastra, guardian of the East holding a sword, Virupaksa, guardian of the West holding a banner, and Virudhaka, guardian of the South holding a naga. The statues in Bongeunsa share the same stylistic features as the other statues from the 18th century. Only, they are distinguished by the fact that they are made of wood and that they are smaller in size than others even though they are standing statues. Also, they show humorous and friendly looks instead of the frightening expressions like the Four Heavenly King statues. Recently, a written statement of vows and on the production of the statues, and other relics were retrieved from inside the statues. The written document says the state artists like Yeochan, Sinchal, Seonghyeon, Jeongil, Haeun, and Minhwi produced the statues in 1746.

The inscriptions on the side of this bronze bell indicate that it was produced in Jangheungsa (Temple) in 1392, the last year for the Goryeo Dynasty and the founding year for the Joseon Dynasty, which enhances its value. The loop at the top of the bell for hanging is missing. On the upper portion, there are two bands of floral patterns and four trapezoidal decorations with knobs, below which hang two tassels. On the lower portion of the bell, four standing Bodhisattva images are represented as honored ones, joining their palms together and riding on clouds. It is the first such example to appear among the bronze Buddhist bells. An additional floral band lines the bottom rim of the bell, and the gong base is decorated with detailed lotus flower design. This bell follows the style typical of bells produced in the late Goryeo period. This bell serves as a fine example for the study of the production method of Buddhist bells from the Goryeo period, as well as the related patronage and the positions of the local government.

Buddhist monasteries during the mid-16th century, by which time Korean Buddhism had come to be dominated by two schools, one based on meditation and the other on texts. The temple was moved to its current location in the ninth month of 1562 as Jeongneung, the tomb of King Jungjong, was moved to the temple site east of today's Seolleung, where King Seongjong is buried with his Queen Consort Jeonghyeon. During the late Joseon period, the temple was also the seat of a Rectification Office (Gyujeongso), a government agency responsible for the supervision of the religious life of the Sangha, Buddhist priests.
Bongeunsa played a leading role in the national effort to provide relief for the victims of the 1925 floods that hit nearly the entire Korean Pen-insula. Now situated in Gangnam, at the heart of Korea's most prosperous commercial district, the temple is the hub of various religious and charity activities in the local Buddhist community and leads the effort to spread Korean Buddhism and culture to international visitors.

Buddhist Temple in the City
I’ve lived in South Korea for more than two years now but it was my first time coming here. The scale of the city and my studies made it really hard for me to get out of the busy lifestyle, but going to this temple was really a very nice healing experience. I have always thought that Bongeunsa would be really far away from the city but when I found out it was right next to COEX, I just had to run there! #korea

The temple looks boring from the front. Walk further in towards the back and u will see a kind of little forest or park. The autumn foliage is simply gorgeous and out of this world.
this place is an easy 500m walk from Coex Mall so u can easily combine this with a visit to Starfield Library and a meal in Coex Mall.

Feng En Temple is located in the north of COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. In addition to the solemnity of the temple, it is a beautiful view of the back hill of the temple. In the early morning, Feng En Temple, with a little cold air, quiet and peaceful, campus temple gardens, these places, when you walk in, always feel out of jealousy and irritability.
With the sun shining through the branches, the morning bells and bells ringing in the morning, many believers gathered from all sides, praying for the Buddhist monks to worship Buddha, and the trees that complement the temple architecture, the environment is excellent.
Going to the back mountain in the early morning, it is not big but luxuriant, and there are beautiful scenery in all seasons. You will feel that it is worthwhile. If you find a suitable angle for photography, you can leave a lot of beautiful photos.
Feng En Temple is not very big. After shopping for more than half an hour, you can walk down and walk out of the temple along the street to see the busy people, at that moment, suddenly from the forest Crossing the city is very interesting.
The Bongeun Temple, located in the northern part of the Korea Exhibition Hall, was founded by the sect of the National People's Republic of China in the 10th year of the Silla Dynasty (794). It was called the Visa Temple. In 1498, the emperor of Chengzong, the emperor of the emperor, made a major change to the temple on the east side of the tomb of the Chengzong Mausoleum (Xuanling) and later changed its name to Feng En Temple. It was originally located about 1 km southwest of Xuan Ling and was rebuilt by Pu Yu Mobile during the Ming Dynasty in North Korea. There are 13 kinds of Buddhist scriptures and plates in the hall where the board of the board written by Qiu Shijin Zhengxi is kept.
Peaceful among the hustle and bustle of the city
unplanned visit, it was remarkable to see and feel the peaceful atmosphere. The temple is just next to Bongeunsa station and Coex, even many tourists you might probably meet but it wouldn’t ruin a calm vibe as we cherish it.
i believe if you visit during Buddha’s birthday, that would have another level of experience.
After a short walk in Temple, just went to Coex straightaway for having a lunch, good plan finally!
Accidentally entered South Korea, which I have actually been looking forward to for a long time

Bongeunsa Temple
Located in the heart of Samseong, right across from the Seoul World Trade Center, is a temple.
At the entrance during summer, there are many, many lotus flowers.
Inside the temple, many lanterns are hung 🏮
The summer weather is fickle, with alternating sunshine and rain, accompanied by the chirping of cicadas. Such a beautiful summer, a blessing of hope.

Bongeunsa temple
The cherry blossoms in Seoul are gradually coming to bloom~
For the first time, we came to the Bongeun Temple in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu. It was founded in the 10th year of the Silla King (AD 794) by the Gaochun Yuanhui National Teacher. Has a long history. At the Bongeun Temple, you can also experience temple life, including temple tours, tea art, meditation, and lanterns.
If you are interested, you can experience the Korean Buddhist culture in depth. Now Feng En Temple has been covered with colorful lanterns for reasons of festivals. Maybe it will be more beautiful at night, and there will be lanterns hanging in April. The Bongeunsa Temple in April is expected to look better, because in addition to the lanterns, there will be a lot of flowers blooming at the same time.
Traffic information: Exit 1 of Bonienji Station on Subway Line 9
Feng En Temple, about one kilometer away from Xuan Jing Ling, has a history of more than 1,200 years. It is called the ancient temple of the millennium. Today's Bongeun Temple is dedicated to spiritual practice. According to the visiting foreign tourists, a short-term temple experience event is specially set up. According to the applicants of the event, the corresponding Chinese, English and Japanese tour guides will arrange the personal explanation.
Passed through the Fawang Building, which has 3,300 Guanyin Bodhisattvas, and came to the Daxiong Hall. This traditional Korean wooden structure is the center of Buddhism's pilgrimage to the Buddha. The center of the temple is home to the Buddha Buddha statue, which is surrounded by Amitabha and the pharmacist. Behind the Maitreya Temple is a statue of Maitreya Buddha. The Buddha statue is 23 meters high. It was built in 1986 and was built in ten years. The square where the Maitreya Buddha stands is a place where believers pray, and in addition, many cultural events are held.
