Yummiest desserts in dud!
If you are in Dunedin and are having sweet cravings, I highly recommend that you head down to Jooni’s and grab yourself a dessert of choice from their variety of options! I loved this place because for less than $10 you get a good amount of sugar you need to satisfy your cravings- I got the Jooni’s special crepes and it was amazing! You can even ask them to make minor adjustments for you and they would be happy to!

MARLOW PLAYGROUND ROAD FOR KIDS
Omg this was the coolest thing I have ever come across in a park! A road track for kids! It is a mini traffic area with mini traffic lights that are actually functional and work for both the vehicles and pedestrians. It even has all the right road signs in mini sizes, a roundabout, a zebra crossing, a tunnel, and even a parking area for bicycles or scooters!

MAORI ART AND MAORI DISPLAY
If you are ever in Dunedin and wondering about Maori culture and people, head on down to Otago Museum, across the road from Otago university, and climb on up to the first floor where they have a massive room for display of Maori art- in the form of paintings, carvings, and even digital art as shown in the first picture, they showcase different clothing and tools from olden days and they even have a mini cinema where you can seat about 10+ people to enjoy a educational film on Maori people and New Zealand as a country.

PROUD MAORI PEOPLE
At the Otago Museum, the whole building is divided up into various sections whereby they display certain articles based on different groups of culture, race, species, etc. This section of the building focuses on Maori culture and people and it shows the different types of artifacts they have from the olden days, different art that Maori people have created, and Maori traditional attire.

BEAUTIFUL POLYNESIA DISPLAYS
The Otago Museum shows the various Polynesian countries from Marquesas to Pitcairn to Easter Island and to Hawaii. I did not even know that some of these countries existed until I entered this museum and found it in the Polynesian section within the Pacific block. It was cool to see how pretty their jewelry was and their beautiful head pieces.

Our favorite dairy to get 🍦🍫🍪🍰
This dairy is just the best one I’ve ever come across in Dunedin. it’s only a few minutes walk from home and only a minute drive away. I love having this dairy so close by because it has all the goodies to satisfy those night cravings, their staff are just the friendliest people who really engage in convo and they’re always down to help you meet your mix and match needs when ordering your dessert✨

Ah, New Zealand is simply my spiritual home~
Wow! New Zealand is such a fascinating place! It's like my spiritual home, every time I set foot on this land, I can feel its warm welcome. I deeply fell in love with the nature here, its beautiful scenery makes me dream.
Imagine, flocks of sheep running freely on the green grass by the sea, herds of deer leisurely foraging on the vast plains, and seagulls soaring in the blue sky on the sea rocks. These scenes are not unfamiliar to me, as if they have become a part of my life. This is my spiritual home in my heart, a place that makes me feel peaceful and joyful.
Facing the sea, spring is blooming. Here, I can enjoy the gifts of nature, feel the warmth of spring and the blooming of flowers. Happiness is not complicated, just feel the beauty of life on this beautiful land.
Every time I come to Dunedin, I am attracted by its charm. The picturesque scenery here is refreshing. I will pick up the camera, record the beautiful moments here, and leave my precious memories.
New Zealand, you are my spiritual home in my heart, your nature gives me endless surprises and joy. I deeply love you, every encounter with you makes me a happier person.
New Zealand self-driving, the wonderful experience you can't miss in your life.
Still vividly remember driving through the spacious roads, mountains, green fields, lakes, snow-capped mountains, glaciers and other picturesque scenery in New Zealand many years ago, without the constraints of time, enjoying the freedom and pleasure. In 2023, when we set off again, our first choice for a self-driving destination is still New Zealand, because there you will experience the wonders that you cannot miss in your lifetime.
Apart from the fairy-tale cottages in Hobbiton, the Cook Mountains National Park, Queenstown, the West Coast Highway, the Road to Paradise, Lake Wanaka, Glenorchy, Arrowtown, Dunedin Railway Station, Lake Wakatipu, Lake Tekapo, Lake Hawea, Fox Glacier, Milford Sound and other exciting tourist attractions, New Zealand is also a paradise for outdoor sports. Whether it's the lakes of the South Island or the volcanoes of the North Island, they can give you a different experience. In short, there are too many expectations for New Zealand.
Compared to the North Island, we prefer self-driving tours on the South Island, so we have arranged most of our travel time for this trip on a self-driving tour around the South Island. We started from Christchurch and went counterclockwise to Fox Glacier, then to Wanaka, Queenstown, Dunedin, and finally to Mount Cook National Park. After that, we returned to Christchurch via Tekapo and went on a self-driving tour of the North Island.
TIPS:
1. The interesting small towns in New Zealand are like the soul of the South Island, exuding unique charm everywhere, such as the "Queenstown" known as the adventure capital, the Wanaka with a lonely tree, the "Lord of the Rings" town with the atmosphere of Middle-earth, and the Arrowtown with an autumn story.
2. Due to the diverse terrain and complex road conditions in New Zealand, please drive safely and try to allow enough time to avoid driving at night.
OFF THE GRID vast sandy beach that can be reached from island park reserve car park. super windy, tranquil . A good stroll to blackhead surfing beach as well.
MĀORI DISPLAY AT MUSEUM
The Otago Museum, which is conveniently right across the road from Otago University, embraces and showcases the Maori culture and the Maori people, who are the indigenous people of New Zealand and highlight their presence and impact on the country from the early days. The Otago Museum showcases artifacts of the Maori people, who are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, originally and formerly known as ‘’Aoetearoa’’. This Maori section of the museum is right across from the Pacific section, so you can see how that flows really well and creates a smooth transition as you walk through the museum. The big canoe that’s displayed as you enter has an interesting story to it- visit the museum to find out!!

PACIFIC FINDS AT THE MUSEUM
The Otago Museum has a wide variety of displays and options to look at when it comes to the Pacific Islands Sections- they showcase all sorts of artifacts from all the regions Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. There are displays of the type of jewelry they used to wear in Fiji, a Melanesian country, and they type of “pillows” or head rest they would use in the Pacific generally.

ALL OF MELANESIA DISPLAY
The Otago Museum not only showcases artifacts for the Melanesian region as a whole but they also specify each and every country or island that holds their own differences from the bigger group. The displays show various artifacts from Malagan to the Solomon Islands to Vanuatu and all. Although they hold many similarities, the museum highlights their many differences too- even the slightest.

Melanesian display in the Museum
If you’re from any one of the Melanesian countries and you’re missing home, or if you’re just feeling like you need to connect with your roots and you don’t know any Melanesian community to help you with that, you could just come down to the Otago Museum and visit the Melanesian section and enjoy the various cultural items and learn about their details from the information provided by the museum regarding those items to connect with your Melanesian ancestry

POLYNESIA SHOWCASED IN DUNEDIN
The Otago Museum provides a specific section in it’s building dedicated to showcasing artifacts and all sorts of findings about Polynesia. They have a massive canoe as the main attraction displayed for Polynesia because that’s how Polynesians and Pacific Islanders traveled across the seas in the olden days. HOME EDITION MAKES YOU FEEL AT HOME
This restaurant was so welcoming because the lights are soft, they had calming music playing and the staff was so friendly and warm. The tables were properly set far apart to give everyone ample space but near enough to feel close and homey.
