Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II Facts
Sharing some fun and interesting facts about this grand masterpiece - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II:
1. The main entrance is a monument in itself (and guess what I didn’t end up taking a photo with it, whoops…just means I have to go back).
2. Take a look at the floors of this magnificent building - they are truely remarkable and the central octagonal part of the gallery features the coats of arms of 4 Italian cities.
3. The roof of the gallery was completely destroyed during WWII and had to be completely restored.
4. Apparently, McDonald’s hasn’t been welcome here since 2012 (but you can find a chain of it just around the corner outside, which to @__marievi__ and my surprise was packed and had constant queues outside).
5. Did you know there is a gorgeous hotel situated inside the gallery, well there is! For those of you looking to book a special few nights in Milan, this place should definitely be on your radar.

Meanwhile, in Milan...
Milan is known for being fashionable. Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world along with London, Paris and New York. It hosts Milan fashion week twice a year. Milan is a beautiful city. It oozes style and sophistication in that effortless, just-woke-up-like-this catwalk model kind of way.
We took in the buzz of Milan from its beautiful square the Piazza del Duomo, which is Milan’s grandest square. If you are visiting Milan, this should be your starting point. From here you can view the wonderful Duomo and surrounding buildings. We visited the iconic Duomo di Milano, the world's largest—and perhaps most stunning—Gothic cathedral, Located in the centre of Milan in the Piazza del Duomo. With an Italian Gothic style, the front facade of the cathedral is truly magnificent and is crowned with countless towers, statues and decoration. Then, we walked through the glass-ceilinged arcade of the world's oldest mall, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II which is testament to Milan’s title as one of the world’s fashion capitals. This wondrous, glass-ceilinged arcade connects the piazzas of the Duomo and the Teatro alla Scala opera house, and is lined with cafes and high-end boutiques, such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada. We also visited Milan's 15th century castle and museum, Sforza Castle. Despite its name, Castello Sforzesco looks more like a fortress with a large courtyard than a castle. The complex has a library and several museums. We spent less than a day here hence we didn't get to visit all the other beautiful places here.
Milan is worth visiting for its abundance of historical, cultural, and architectural landmarks. Milan has a lot going for it and there are plenty of reasons to fall in love with it. If you’re looking for mesmerising landmarks and stunning architecture then it’s here in spades.

One afternoon in Milan 🇮🇹
An essential to visit in Milan is the so called Duomo di Milano, you can also visit the inside and get to the top of it to see the views. So amazing!
Right next to the Duomo there is the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which consists of luxury shops and several restaurants. A good place to spend the afternoon.
If you travel to Italy another must is to try some pasta, we opt for having dinner in a restaurant near the center. Spaghetti bolognese and carbonara, super top and good prices there!

THE GREAT GALLERIA
The great Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was planned by Giuseppe Mengoni and built between 1865 and 1877 on one side of Piazza del Duomo and on the other side of Piazza della Scala. With a dome soaring 48 meters above its mosaic floor, it was Europe's largest shopping arcade at the time.
It is a magnificent example of 19th-century industrial iron and glass construction, and it marks the beginning of modern architecture in Italy. And it's still a lovely, lively neighborhood where folks congregate for lunch or coffee in exquisite cafés and shop in high-end boutiques. It has become so ingrained in Milanese culture that locals refer to it as "il salotto" (the salon).

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, is Italy's oldest active shopping gallery and a major landmark of Milan in Italy. Housed within a four-story double arcade in the centre of town, the Galleria is named after Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy.
the arcade principally contains luxury retailers selling haute couture, jewelry, books and paintings, as well as restaurants, cafés, bars, and a hotel, the Town House Galleria. The Galleria is famous for being home to some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan, such as Biffi Caffè.
The mosaic floor tile designs represent different cities in Italy: the wolf symbolizes Rome, the bull is a representation of Torino, the lily is indicative of Florence, and the flag stands for Milan itself. Another fun fact: the symbols in each part of the floor symbolize the numerous capitals of the kingdom of Italy.

Milan | There is a legend on the promenade of Emmanuel II, do you know?
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, built by the Italian architect Giuseppe Mengoni in 1865, is now the shopping centre of Milan. Named after the Italian king Vittorio Emanuele II, it was made of cast iron with glass as the dome of the cloister. However, the irony is that on December 30, 1877, the architect died in the cloister of his own cloister (there was a rumor that he was suicide for being criticized for his poor construction), and even more bizarre, the king was also 10 days later. Passed away one after another. The beautiful arcades of the
promenade are very magnificent. Remember to look for the coat of arms of different Italian cities under the cloister, including Milano, Como, Firenze and Roma.
Remember to find this Torino Bull, and it is said that you will get good luck on its eggs! This is a must for every visitor! ! ! Haha~

The Emanuele II Promenade is located on the north side of the square of Milan's iconic Milan Cathedral and connects to Scala Square. A huge Arc de Triomphe attracts visitors who come and go to the promenade to find out. Promenade structure The Emanuele II Promenade is a covered arcade street, named after the first king of Italy, Emmanuel II, which is considered to be the most beautiful commercial arcade in Europe. One. The arcades are built in the classical Galleria of Paris. The two crossed corridors are cross-shaped with a glass dome above.

If you want to feel the classics of the bones and the fashion of Milan, then go to the promenade of Emanuele II. It is not important whether you are picking up your hands. It is important that you dont need to speak through words. among them.
Close to the main church of Dumo, the other end is the Scala Theatre, so the flow of people and fame can be described as a big explosion, a bunch of luxury goods inside... hurriedly passed...
The name of the gallery comes from the first king after the reunification of Italy. It is located in the prominent position on the north side of the Piazza Duomo in Milan and connects to Scala Square. The northern exit of the arcade is directly accessible, to the Da Vinci Square and La Scala Opera House, and to the south exit to Milan Cathedral. Of course, the most eye-catching is that there are many top luxury fashion shops on both sides of the glass dome arcade. There are also many cafes, restaurants, bookstores and burger shops. I am afraid that no one will not be surprised when they are under the covers. The top corridors converge in the central octagonal space, where art and fashion blend together, standing here looking down at the bull mosaics, which are said to be good for luck (Figure 6).
The light is projected on this round glass roof, reflecting the relief on the wall and the painted bricks on the ground. The light and the shadows are combined, the extra attention is noticeable, the height is high enough, and the golden light shines. Give a feeling of grandeur.
The heel of the right foot is stepping on the genital part of the bull, and turning three times in a clockwise direction, you can make a wish and bless your heart. It is impossible to avoid it.
