Subterranean Oasis
#wheretogo #jogja
Address: Patehan, Kecamatan Kraton, Kota Yogyakarta, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 55133
Price: 15k IDR, for the whole of Taman Sari
Points to note: This place is just the bathing house of Taman Sari. Look at the map to figure out the rest of the locations to visit in Taman Sari. There are many rooms and floors to visit in each building so be sure to explore thoroughly for maximum experience.
Personal thoughts: This place was so pretty and grand for a bathing house. And it is something that i’ve never seen anywhere else in the world before! It’s definitely worth visiting.
Taman sari Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta Indonesia has a lot of history. Not only natural attractions but also many historical tours. Many historical relics are still preserved in this Student City. If you've been to Yogyakarta, you haven't finished if you haven't visited the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace. And visiting the Yogyakarta Palace is also not complete if you haven't stopped at Taman Sari Yogyakarta. Taman Sari Yogyakarta was once a water park belonging to the Yogyakarta Palace. And now, you can see the building that is still standing strong. Taman Sari Yogyakarta is a cultural heritage of the Yogyakarta Palace, which was built during the reign of Sri Sultan HB I, in 1758. The tourists can climb the Tamansari tower so they can enjoy the view from above, can see the scenery with relief, observe the two ponds in the north and south. In the tower there is a window with bars made of pristine wood that has not been replaced since the first time the tower was built. From above, tourists can also see the houses of residents located in the vicinity which were previously orchards. #passionpassport
Yogyakarta
Always wanted to visit this one. As it's expected it feels magical somehow. I like it very much. The guide explanation is superb, you pay as you wish but please pay them enough. They take photos too! Knew the great spot. #passionpassport
Water Castle@Yogyakarta
Location - Patehan, Kraton, Special Region of Yogyakarta City, Indonesia PC:55133
Getting There - A mere 15minutes walk from Kraton or paying additional small fees for rickshaw services if too tired to walk under the sun😁
Attractions - The main purpose to visit Taman Sari Water Castle is due to the architectural design of the site. Fellow historians or those who love history, the old building holds a lot of stories and tales behind the remaining ruins that perhaps may create the nostalgic atmosphere to some with its charms(at least I felt it though😄).

Water Castle (Taman Sari) Jogja
Taman Sari Water Castle, also known as Taman Sari (Javanese: ꦠꦩꦤ꧀ ꦱꦫꦶ), is the site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the mid-18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place.
Taman Sari was a former bathing complex and has a beautiful blend of Dutch and Javanese architecture. Around the area, you can find a lot of beautiful murals, souvenir shops, cafes, and art workers. Plan to spend about 60 – 90 minutes for both Taman Sari and Sumur Gumuling.
Taman Sari and Sumur Gumuling are open from 9 AM to 3 PM and the entrance fee is 15000 IDR (1 USD) per person.

Historical Castle - Taman Sari Yogya
Another historical and cultural building i visited is Taman Sari located at Yogyakarta. With its combination of eastern and western style building, this unique escape of the royal family has its own appeal and story.
Known historically, the most famous place in Tamansari is the bathing and resting place of the Sultan and his Princesses named Umbul Pasiraman. I find this place interesting as there is a unique story behind its origins. 🌄

A historical water castle
Tamansari Water Castle used to be a place for princesses to bathe and be ‘hunted’ by the sultan. Located near the Kraton in the city center of Jogja. Some of its original functions were a place to rest, meditate, work, hide, and defend the Sultan’s family. Now, this place has become homes for local resident and only the mosque, resting, and bathing space, and underground tunnels are accessible by tourists. It’s a really nice place for photoshot, it has good nuance and also vintage feels, and you can even find couple in their wedding dress taking photoshoot here. There are place for pray also inside the complex. Very clean and well maintained! ⛲️💧 ⛅️🌟 #solstice #urbanexplorer #summervacation #indonesia

Taman Sari is a royal bathing place decorated with the distinctive beauty of the palace. There are three bathing pools at Taman Sari, namely Umbul Panguras which is destined for the King, Umbul Pamuncar for the concubines and Umbul Kawitan for the sons and daughters of the King.
Here you can also see the Great Gate that is still standing firm. It is said that the gate is the entrance to Taman Sari for the royal family. There is also a Pesanggrahan where the king used to meditate or held meetings with royal officials.

Located on the southern part of the island of Java, Indonesia, the ancient city of Jogjakarta (or Yogyakarta) has more to do and see and eat than you could possible fit into one trip. Historic temples and palaces, bustling shopping markets, trendy cafes and delicious local eats, waterfalls and caves to explore to your heart’s content, and beautiful traditional handicrafts that you can learn to make yourself. Be sure to visit the ancient palace Taman Sari, take a batik or silversmith workshop, explore the famous temples Prambanan and Borobodur, check out the trendy cafes in central Jogjakarta, and descend by rope down the Goa Jomblang cave. #awesomepic
Indonesia·Yogyakarta citywalk on the 1st, just walk like this
Yogyakarta is one of the oldest cities in the central and southern part of Java Island, and it is also the city where I stayed the longest on this trip to Indonesia. The reason for staying for a long time is not because it is fun, but because of laziness.
Apart from the day trip to Borobudur, the city attractions of Yogyakarta are actually quite concentrated and very small. If you are diligent, you can basically finish it in one day.
✅Sultan Taman Water Palace
The palace of the Sultanate, the entire building complex is very small, but it combines European, Javanese and Indian styles.
The most characteristic are the two small swimming pools in the middle, which were the places where the concubines bathed. It is said that if the Sultan saw a concubine by the pool, he would throw a flower next to her, which is equivalent to turning over the card.
📍Taman Sari
💰5000⏰9:00-16:00
✅Sultan Palace
Located in the center of the city, it was built by the first Sultan of Yogyakarta. After Indonesia's independence, the original royal family continued to live here, and the servants in the palace were also wearing ancient clothes.
I arrived at noon, but unfortunately, I was accompanied by staff all the way and was not allowed to wander around. The overall tour is quite ordinary. If you want to go, it is best to go at 11 o'clock in the morning because there will be performances.
📍Sonobudoyo Museum, Unit II
💰12500⏰8:30-14:30
✅Yogyakarta Biennale
Visual art is one of the most important cultural arts in Yogyakarta, and this positioned exhibition hall is also introduced by local Taiwanese students. Overall, the exhibition hall is small, and all the exhibits are student works. Some of the works are very interesting. You can go and see when you are bored, and there are often activities.
📍Biennale Jogja 17
✅Malioboro Street
The busiest street in Yogyakarta, and local artists will perform on the street at night. But overall, Yogyakarta's economy is not developed, and it is like a commercial street in the fourth or fifth tier of the country.
📍Malioboro Yogyakarta
Although I stayed for many days, I didn't visit other attractions in the city. Because it's really too hot, I feel like I'm going to be sunburned. And to be honest, the attractions in Yogyakarta are small and there are not many highlights. When I was shopping at the end, I didn't want to go in and visit. So I didn't go to the puppet museum and so on.

Taman Sari is a historical site that offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. It was once a royal garden and bathing complex for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The main highlight of Taman Sari is its unique water features, including underground tunnels, bathing pools, and a central courtyard with a beautiful artificial lake. Exploring the complex allows visitors to appreciate the architectural marvels and the intricate water systems that were designed for the royal family's leisure and pleasure.
Apart from the historical significance, Kampung Wisata Taman Sari also offers a vibrant atmosphere with its local market and traditional craft shops. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture, taste local snacks, and purchase traditional handicrafts. The area surrounding Taman Sari is filled with colorful buildings and narrow alleyways, adding to the charm of the place.

Water Palace
This beautiful palace is a historical building of Yogyakarta. A must visit place when you come here! There are a guide who'll tell you about the history of this building. This place also so large, careful to not get lost! and watch out for your head since the door is quite low for some people.

Taman Sari Yogyakarta is also known as Taman Sari Water Castle, Taman Sari is located on Jl. Nogosari No.6, Patehan, Kraton, Yogyakarta City. The location is very strategic in the heart of Yogyakarta City as well as just a step from Sultan Palace.
A beautiful water park and formerly a royal garden of Yogyakarta sultanate. It is built in the middle of the 18th century and situated in the centre of Yogyakarta City or just a step from Sultan Palace. The form of Taman Sari’s building is adopting the European style. Meanwhile, this place is well known as a bathing place called Pachetokan Spring since Sunan Amengkurat IV’s reign 1719 – 1726.

I went to Yogyakarta last October 18-25.I am very thankful to trip.com for the easy travel processing. I got cheaper ticket in this trip.im always checking the cheapest trip for my next travel. It was a very smooth travel and having no trouble in getting my ticket abd the best thing is that i am in the window seat of the airplane i am so happy I can see the beauty of the sky.
The palace came out, check the map to find the next stop, the water city, the map is more than 1 km, it is still early, decided to walk, but unexpectedly lost, go around, mistaken into others, the locals along the way curiously looked at me alone The tourists ~
walked into a shop and asked a grandfather who looked very kind. Because the language was unreasonable, he showed him pictures, but also because the language was unreasonable, he could not give me directions. Its probably that his granddaughter came back, and the grandfather asked again, then the granddaughter pointed me to the right way, and then turned right at the intersection of the road that was almost back to the palace along the right road, Taman Sari, who was walking for 3 kilometers. After the road, I finally lost my way back in front of me~
Important note: There are a lot of "good people" in the vicinity of the city of Yogyakarta. I will ask you where to go. You can lead the way, explain, etc. Generally, don't pay attention to it. Some are better camouflage, relatively sleek and smarter. You need to be vigilant and avoid unnecessary losses. Of course, most of them just want to rely on this. Earn some money, usually not What harm will be done to the person, but it does hinder the view of this cultural sanctuary~
