Nishi Park

I have been to a few of parks for cherry blossoms during the sakura season in Japan, but Nishi Park is No.1 to me! Nishi Park is a park located within the heart of Fukuoka City, which takes about 15 mins bus from Tenjin district. The park is on a hill whereby you can get a panoramic sea view while enjoying the beautiful cherry blossoms. The park is a good place for a weekend outing where you can do picnic and chill under the cherry blossoms. Most importantly, it is less crowded compared to Maizuru Park in Fukuoka. I definitely had a great morning spent at the park.

A 10~15 min walk from the subway station/ Fukuoka Castle remains, as its a bit further away, it's more quiet than the other parks. A good sakura hanami spot even though i went a bit early when the sakura were just starting to open. #GiveThanks

From the northern part of the park, you can admire Fukuoka Tower and the northern areas of the city, including the islands of Shikanoshima and Nokonoshima. The park paths are very popular among local jogging enthusiasts. A magnet for lovers of beauty There are about 1300 sakura trees in the park. Its flowering, the hanami season, begins at the end of March. The townspeople like to have picnics under cherry blossoms. Sakura trees are interspersed with plums — they bloom a little earlier, but no less effectively.

#thingstodo Nishi Park is located almost in the center of Fukuoka City and used to be called “Aratsuyama.” Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Fukuoka City, Hakata Bay, and Shikanoshima Island from a hilly region with a total area of roughly 170,000 square meters jutting into Hakata Bay. This park was established in 1881, making use of the natural hills, views, and valleys. Afterwards, it was made into a scenic park by planting cherry trees, azaleas, and other plants in additional to the natural forests including pine, beech, and evergreen oak.
