The plum blossoms of the Jiangnan Great Wall are in full bloom, attracting a large number of tourists to check in
For people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the blooming period of plum blossoms this year is around the Spring Festival, so they can invite friends and family to go on a picnic and enjoy the flowers right after the New Year. Places like Chaoshan, Gushan, the Botanical Garden, and Xixi Wetland in Hangzhou all have large plum gardens, which often become popular places for citizens and tourists. To my surprise, when I came to Linhai Ancient City on the third day of the New Year, I found that there was also a not small plum forest here. One of them is even next to the Taizhou Prefecture City Wall, known as the 'Jiangnan Badaling', which has particularly outstanding scenery.
Fortunately, the scene in front of me is indeed heart-moving. Even if it is difficult to 'climb to the top', no one will give up. It is said that there are more than 200 plum trees including Snow Red, Palace Pink, Cinnabar and other dozens of varieties in the plum garden in front of the Great Wall. They are either red, pink or white, with colorful flowers and various postures. They can be viewed from a distance or appreciated up close. No wonder they have become a must-visit spot for tourists to Linhai recently under the word of mouth among tourists.
Standing on the Jiangnan Great Wall, you can overlook the entire plum garden. Under the bright sunshine, the branches full of bright flowers are set against the antique buildings with flying eaves and the old city houses not far away. Even before you are in the forest, you can smell the long and rich fragrance of flowers coming with the wind. It is really a unique charm that is pleasing to the eye and refreshing to the heart. Unfortunately, my schedule was tight, so I didn't 'drill' into the flower bush to feel it up close.
According to relevant materials, 'Taizhou Prefecture City Wall, also known as Jiangnan Great Wall, Jiangnan Badaling, was built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It has been demolished, rebuilt and repaired many times in history. It is more than 6000 meters long and there are more than 5000 meters left. It starts from Lansheng Gate in the east, winds along the ridge of Beigushan Mountain to Yanxia Pavilion, goes straight to the steep rocks of Lingjiang River in the east, extends to the foot of Jinshan Mountain in the west, overlooks the great river according to the mountain, especially the steepest part in the north', and this plum garden is located at its most 'handsome' place.
For friends who come to Linhai for the first time, it is best not to 'be lazy' and go directly to the Great Wall from 'Chaotianmen', unless it is just for enjoying plums. I suggest that you can choose to start from 'Xingshan Gate' on Ziyang Street or 'Lansheng Gate' in front of Donghu Lake, so that you can appreciate the majestic posture of the Jiangnan Great Wall, and have the ancient city and Lingjiang scenery along the way. The biggest advantage is that you can choose whether to continue or not after arriving at the plum garden. Although it is not hard to walk and stop on the Great Wall, if there are elderly and children accompanying, you can adapt to the situation here.
Of course, if you are a real 'lazy person' and don't even want to climb the Great Wall, then I suggest you go directly to Ziyang Street. There is a Jinshan Square on one side, and there are also many planted on the slope behind. Coming down from this plum forest, you can see a large stage and 'Good Food Comes' food street. If you are interested, you can consult the staff and wait for a wonderful performance while eating here. Of course, you can also visit the 'Taizhou Prefecture City Wall Museum' next door to learn more about this scenic spot.
Because everyone prefers to go out for a spring outing and enjoy the plum blossoms these days, I will post this article first. Interested friends can go and check in as soon as possible. After all, the flowering period is limited, and maybe after a wind and rain, you can only wait for the next year.
