龙泉宝剑厂建于1956年。龙泉剑，又名龙渊剑，始于春秋战国时期，距今有二千六百多年，是中国古代名剑，诚信高洁之剑。传说是由欧冶子和干将两大剑师联手所铸。制剑术以吴越地区最著。古人言:“吴粤(越)之剑，迁乎其地弗能为良，地气使然。”龙泉产铜、铁，以制剑名师欧冶子为始祖的龙泉宝剑乃铁剑之魁。唐代凡制名剑，必称“龙泉”，龙泉已成了宝剑的代名词。鼻祖欧冶子是春秋末期、战国初期越国人，是龙泉宝剑的创始人 。相传欧冶子和干将为铸此剑，凿开茨山，放出山中溪水，引至铸剑炉旁成北斗七星环列的七个池中，是名“七星”。剑成之后，俯视剑身，如同登高山而下望深渊，飘渺而深邃仿佛有巨龙盘卧。是名“龙渊”。
