Muli Dasi

Muli Temple is located in Taobadian Village, Taoba Township, Wachang Township, Muli County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, at an altitude of 2,637 meters, covering an area of about 80,000 square meters. It was built in 1656 in the Qing Dynasty and was built in the style of Lhasa Zhexuan Temple. It was destroyed in 1967 and rebuilt in 1982. It has become the political, religious and cultural center of the "Muli Lama Kingdom" and is one of the larger Huangjiao monasteries in Kangzang. Every festival, the temple holds various grand sacrifices.

The Muli Temple is the first of the three major temples in Muli. It covers an area of 80,000 square meters. It was once one of the largest Huangjiao Lama temples in Kangba Tibetan area. It was destroyed in 1967. It was rebuilt on the original site in 1982. Dr. Locke described in the National Geographic magazine, "The Muli Kingdom of China's Huang Lama": Muli King ruled a 9,000 square mile area with only 22,000 residents. There is a lack of arable land, Muli City is composed of 340 houses, living with 700 lamas, centered on the Muli Temple. Muli Temple is dedicated to a nearly 30-meter-high Buddha statue, said to be the world's largest. It is rare to visit here, except for the lamas and local villagers in the temple, there is no one else, and it is extremely quiet.

Muli Temple was once one of the largest Huangjiao Lama temples in Kangba Tibetan area, and has a special status in Tibetan area. The main building is magnificent and gorgeous. In the space combination, the courtyard overlaps, the corridors are curved, scattered, the halls, wall columns, painted with various colored murals, patterns.
