Stunning Glacier in Tibet
On our drive through Tibet we stopped to see Karola Glacier. This glacier has a peak elevation of 5560 meters and had so much snow in early October. It is located in Shigatse in the Tibet Autonomous Region and is located close to Mount Naiqing Kangsang, which is one of the four tallest mountains in Tibet.
We passed here after spending our morning viewing the stunning Yamdrok Lake and then continued on our way towards the highlight of our trip…Everest Base Camp!
Admission price: 5 RMB (≈$0.80)

Everest Five-Day Tour | Five-Day Tour in Tibet | Travel in Tibet | Small Group in Tibet
Don't miss these stunning sights!
⭕ Essential luggage before entering Tibet 🧳✈️
Stepping on the journey to Tibet, my luggage list is appropriate! Choose a 24-inch suitcase, convenient and practical. Don't forget down jackets, knitted hats, warm gloves🧤, scarves🧣, and pants👖, warm babies are enough, if you are afraid of cold, you can bring more. Don't forget sunscreen, lipstick, face cream and other skincare products. In addition, I also prepared glucose, motion sickness medicine and Baoji pills. Everything is for a comfortable journey!💄✨
⭕ Transportation to Tibet 🚗✈️
I chose to fly directly to Lhasa, which is time-saving and convenient! If you are not a poor traveler, the plane is the first choice, and the train is too patient. Sisters who like to enjoy the scenery along the way can also try the train, but remember that the budget is limited. High anti has nothing to do with transportation, so choose according to your own budget!🌍💸
⭕ Local transportation 🚗🛵
The transportation in Lhasa city is convenient, with shared electric cars🛵, buses and taxis (starting at 10 yuan), which are convenient and fast. It's a different taste to travel freely in the small town!🏞️🚖
⭕ About high anti 🏔️💊❗
Eat Rhodiola a week in advance to prevent high anti. If you feel uncomfortable, rest in the hotel on the first day, don't resist high anti! Oxygen absorption is a good idea, my small group also gave 10L of oxygen, basically enough. But if the high anti is serious, you still have to go to the hospital for registration, safety first!🌬️🚑
⭕ About my Tibet itinerary 🗻🌄
On the first day, visit the Potala Palace, Yaowang Mountain and the reflection of the Potala Palace Square, immersed in this magical atmosphere.
On the second day, visit Nanshan Park and spend a leisurely day.
From the third day, start the group itinerary, cross Lhasa to Yang Lake, and appreciate the beauty of Karola Glacier and Manla Reservoir.
On the fourth day, visit Shigatse, Tashilhunpo Monastery, Jiacuola Pass, Gaur Pass and Everest Base Camp, and experience the wonders of the snow-capped plateau.
On the fifth day, explore Everest Base Camp, Longren Mountain, Rimana Snow Mountain, Qudengnima Glacier, Qomoyongqing Snow Mountain and Kongma Prairie, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
On the sixth day, visit Shigatse, Nyingchi, Wild Hot Springs (boiling eggs, foot baths) and Selincuo, and enjoy the gifts of nature.
On the seventh day, cross Bangor to reach Bamu Wrong, Namtso 1.2 viewing point, Nalagen Pass and Nyainqentanglha Mountain, and successfully end my Tibet trip.🌈🗺️
⭕ Tips some suggestions 🤔💡
Tibetan attractions are scattered, the transportation time is long, remember to carry motion sickness medicine💊, Rhodiola and glucose. Carry your ID with you for all safety.
For the first time, it is not recommended to drive by yourself, the terrain is complex, it is best to choose a local small group, especially with oxygen supply. Many low-cost groups will force you to buy oxygen, choose carefully.
Have a nice trip, don't forget to leave beautiful memories! Everything on the way is worth looking forward to, let go of your mood to feel it!🌟🤗

Tibet | Shigatse is more interesting than imagined!!!
Shigatse is really a surprising city.
Not only is it an important border city, but it is also an important stronghold of Tibetan Buddhism Gelug Sect, with many ancient temples, and the entire city is unexpectedly new.
BUT for drivers, there are the strictest traffic rules in Tibet here, sisters who drive by themselves must remember to abide by the speed limit, otherwise a fine of ¥1200 + 6 points is inevitable.
In fact, there are several ancient sites and temples in the surrounding counties and cities of Shigatse.
However, we stayed in Shigatse city for two nights to prepare for the border defense certificate and supplies on the weekend.
The most unexpected places we got are 1 the Tashilhunpo Monastery in the city, and 2 the Manla Reservoir, which is very photogenic and beautiful.
Karola Glacier:
The most famous glacier near Shigatse.
At an altitude of 5,000 meters, it was once the filming location of the movie Red River Valley.
The advantage is a glacier that can be reached by car, but the ice surface is actually relatively small, mainly white glaciers and bald mountains, with not many highlights.
The peak season ticket is ¥ 50, and the off-season is free. It is said that if you do not stop and just drive by, you can actually not pay the ticket.
Manla Reservoir:
I didn't expect this unremarkable reservoir to be the most beautiful place we felt from Nyingchi to Shigatse.
The real Tiffany blue, and the winter water surface is half frozen and half flowing, which is very beautiful.
You can step on the blue ice on the lake, we played by the water for most of the day, and the aerial photography can capture the layered lake surface, which is very beautiful.
There is also a prayer flag mountain nearby where you can see the panoramic view, which is also very beautiful, and the filming effect is not lost to Riyue Mountain.
Tashilhunpo Monastery:
It is very convenient in Shigatse city, and there is a parking lot next to the temple.
The temple covers an area of 300,000 square meters. In addition to the three magnificent red temples / stupas, there are many pure white lama accommodation and study areas nearby, which feels like visiting an ancient town, very comfortable.
And there are much fewer tourists than the Potala Palace, and the experience is excellent.
However, the Tashi Temple still requires a ticket of ¥ 55 in winter (peak season 100).
Although the opening hours are written as 9:30-12:30 & 15:30-18:30.
But the big temple will close around 17:30 in the afternoon.
Remember to pay attention to the time.
Mount Everest Base Camp:
The Everest Base Camp will be dismantled in winter, and there is no overnight accommodation.
You can only take a close look at Everest and the monument.
Except for the shock of seeing the snow-capped mountains at the Gawula Pass, the base camp is actually a bit boring.
Tips:
There are very strict speed limits in Shigatse city and on the way to Everest.
Violations will really be fined and deducted points.
Remember to drive in combination with navigation prompts and speed limit signs.
Pay attention to the speed camera at any time.
Shigatse can apply for a border defense certificate without a criminal record certificate, and it can be done in five minutes with an ID card, which is very convenient.
The places for the certificate are divided into
1, Shigatse Government Service Center (working day).
2, Snowy Everest Women's Certificate Room (weekend).
Friends who are going to Ali or Everest, remember to pay attention to the time of the certificate.
If you need to purchase supplies, you can buy more in Shigatse. There are large supermarkets, clothing cities, and pharmacies here, especially thick clothes and outdoor supplies can be found.
Longing for Tibet | The urge is even stronger than after a breakup
In 'Longing for Tibet', it says, 'Every time I see a scene of Tibet, I am invariably overwhelmed with emotion, even moved to tears', until I see it in person, any language in front of Tibet, all seem pale and powerless.
🤮High altitude sickness issues:
1. Rest well before departure, don't get sick. Here I don't recommend taking Rhodiola and some health products💊, those are intelligence tax.
2. Avoid strenuous exercise on the day of arrival in Tibet, drink plenty of water🍵, rest more, do not overeat or drink alcohol🍻.
🚗Travel advice:
1⃣The temperature in Tibet changes quickly, don't easily believe the weather🌧 forecast before you come, it's basically not very accurate.
2⃣Most areas of Tibet have signal, among which Telecom network is the best, Mobile is average, and Unicom is the worst.
3⃣Prepare Rhodiola, ibuprofen, motion sickness medicine and other drugs💊 before coming to Tibet, except for those with iron constitution.
4⃣Don't bring tube-shaped skincare and makeup products, try to bring bottled ones, they may swell and leak under high pressure.
❄What to prepare for a winter trip to Tibet
👉The winter temperature in Tibet is generally between -10°C~10°C, you need to bring windbreaker, down jacket and other warm clothes, scarves, hats, gloves are also must-haves, and bring warm suits.

✈️🚗🚄Transportation
Airplane✈️, train🚞, self-driving🚗. Flying into Tibet is convenient and fast, but it is recommended to choose Nyingchi as the first stop, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Xichang direct flight about 2h, Nyingchi altitude is relatively low and the oxygen content is higher, can provide a process of adaptation for the body; Train into Tibet can currently only go to Lhasa, Lhasa transfer train direct to Nyingchi about 3h, Nyingchi railway is under construction; If time permits, self-driving into Tibet can enjoy the scenery along the way, and the slow rise of altitude makes the body's adaptability to the plateau better.
Self-driving into Tibet
It is recommended to self-drive🚙 off-road vehicles or four-wheel drive suv, do a good job of vehicle maintenance in advance and must be prepared with anti-skid chain and replace snow tires.
A must-visit place in Shigatse - Manla Reservoir
Manla Reservoir is located in Longma Township, Jiangzi County, upstream of the Nianchu River. Similar to Yamdrok Lake, it is a clear pool embedded in the mountains. Although it is an artificial reservoir, the green lake water reflects the distant mountains, making it particularly beautiful. When traveling from Jiangzi County to Yamdrok Lake, you will pass by here. There is a small pavilion on the roadside where you can enjoy the view of the reservoir from a high place and take a rest.
[Ticket]Free, specific charges subject to on-site announcement.
[Opening Hours]Open all day.
[Note]In high-altitude areas, pay attention to your own condition.
Palkhor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Lesser-known Tibetan Monastery - Baiju Monastery with One Hundred Thousand Stupas
The last stop in Shigatse .
Baiju Monastery is now a Gelugpa temple, but its main hall still maintains the style of the Sakya sect, which can be recognized at a glance.
The preservation of the murals is obviously not as good as Gongga Quzhen Temple, the weathering and fading are extremely severe, only the compartments in the One Hundred Thousand Stupas are still acceptable.
Although it is a man-made stupa, it looks incredibly like the mainland's grotto temples... even several times, it feels like returning to the mainland.
100,000 Stupa - Art Treasure Baiju Temple
There is a different temple in Gyangze, not far from this Shigatse. Unlike the temples of the unique single-family, Baiju Temple is built on the mountain, three sides are Surrounded by mountains, along the mountain, the walls of the Great Wall are also cast, and there is a clear defense mechanism.
Baiju Temple was built in 1418 by Jiangyan Fawang Hotang Gongsangpa and the First Panchen. It has been more than 600 years since the Gelugpa, Sakya and Xialu factions. The Zhacang formed a scene of three factions. The Buddha statue of Sakyamuni is also one of the most important buildings of the Baiju Temple. The second floor enshrines one of the most important statues of the temple. When you built the temple, you can come to India to speak for the Tara, and the left hand of the Luohan Temple. It is worth seeing, the three-dimensional mandala in the middle of the gold-plated hollow is light and incomparable.
But the most famous of Baiju Temple is the 100,000 stupa. It is a place to visit here. It is one of the eight towers of Buddhism. There are 27,529 statues of Buddha and Buddha, 108 temples in White Tower, and 76 Buddhist temples. It took more than 10 years before and after the construction. The tower has 5 floors. The 5th tower is surrounded by round tower bottles. The top of the tower is wrapped in copper for 13 days. The door plaque is decorated with unusually beautiful elephants, lions, and dragons. It contains various types of Buddha statues, totaling more than 100,000 Buddha statues and nearly a thousand murals. It is also known as the "100,000 stupa."
100,000 pagodas are magnificent and magnificent, echoing with Baiju Temple, and there is a tower in the temple. There is a temple in the temple. It is also the only religious art museum in China that combines architecture, painting and sculpture. Come to a place that Jiangyan must not miss.
time: 9
Jiang Yan is also a historical city with a very important position in the history of Shigatse. It was the place where the defending war of the E. Jiang was held, and it was also a struggle by the Tibetan people to resist the aggression of imperialism.
The first place we arrived was Baiju Temple. It means Auspicious Wheel Dale Temple, a temple where Tibetan Buddhism Sakya, Xialu and Gelugans coexist.
Baiju Temple has a well-known Chinese and foreign Baiju Tower, which is called "Bodhi Tower". The tower has nine floors, with a height of more than 32 meters. There are 77 Buddhist temples, 108 gates, shrines and temples. It is a unique treasure in the history of Chinese architecture. There are more than 100,000 Buddha statues in the hall, hence the name 100,000 stupas. The most important part of the
temple culture is the Baiju Temple murals. The murals have three categories: Xianzong, Tantric, and historical figures.

Potala Palace - Tibet Autonomous Region
Getting there - Book with a tour group to get to Tibet. We used JoyTravel in China and they were wonderful. :)
Take a moment to stop and catch your breath, the Potala Palace sits at an elevation of 3700 meters about 12,100 feet. We spent time hiking up and through each room. The many rooms of the palace were exquisite and it was such a treat to learn about the history of each location. Photography is not permitted inside, however, this made the experience seem even more special and we were able to take in the sights without any distractions.

Tashilhunpo Monastery Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The Heart of Rear Tibet
Tashilhunpo Monastery | Comprehending Humanistic Beliefs.
Comprehending Humanistic Beliefs. Tashilhunpo Monastery is located at the foot of Nyiseri Mountain, south of Shigatse, which in Tibetan means 'Auspicious Sumeru Mountain'. It is the largest monastery in Shigatse and has been the residence of the Panchen Lamas from the 4th Panchen Lama onwards, hence it is known as the heart of Rear Tibet. Along with the three great monasteries of Lhasa, it is one of the four great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Before arriving in Shigatse, I had already visited the three great monasteries of Lhasa, so initially, Tashilhunpo Monastery did not make a deep impression on me. Compared to the previous three, it didn't strike me as much - until I entered the Coqen Hall.
I spent the entire afternoon in the Coqen Hall. The Great Assembly Hall, also known as Coqen Hall, is one of the earliest buildings associated with the monastery. This hall is very special compared to the three great monasteries of Lhasa, mainly consisting of a courtyard surrounded by cloisters, with many Buddha statues and murals painted around the cloisters.
In front of the Great Assembly Hall is a lecture field of over 600 square meters, where the Panchen Lama teaches and debates scriptures with the monks. Unfortunately, during my visit, the debate was not held. Pay attention to a very special place on the side of the square. Locals line up to press their ears against the wall. It is said that those with profound blessings can hear different sounds here.
At 12:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon, there are chanting sessions in the Great Assembly Hall. As the time approaches, monks will blow horns on the roof, then they will head to the hall, take off their shoes at a certain corner, and find their seats in the hall.
Dim lights, red pillars, monks draped in yellow robes, scriptures hanging from the beams... We queue outside the hall, listening to the sacred sounds of scriptures emanating from within, and a sense of sanctity naturally arises. Visitors can also queue with the locals and slowly enter the hall. Walking through the narrow corridors, the locals almost all bow their heads as they pass, as if the monks beside them are untouchable deities.
After touring the Great Assembly Hall, I sat alone on the stone steps of the square, listening to the scriptures from the hall, looking at the courtyard, and my heart seemed to become very peaceful all of a sudden...
Finally, when I was leaving, I met a young monk who was going to the Great Assembly Hall to deliver food and butter tea to the chanting monks. He smiled and handed me an apple, which made me feel very warm.
Notice
Opening hours: 09:00-19:30
Ticket price: Off-season 55
3 When visiting, enter from the left and exit from the right, in a clockwise direction
Pay attention to the opening hours of each hall, some are closed from 11:30 to 15:30. Around three in the afternoon, locals start entering the monastery, and at that time the Panchen Lama's Stupa Hall will be open
Right at the entrance of the monastery is the Tashilhunpo Monastery Restaurant, where you can dine after leaving the monastery

Ali's Great North Line is a must-visit in this life (1)
Shigatse has an unparalleled status in the back of Tibet, and Tashilhunpo Monastery is undoubtedly the heart of the back of Tibet. The Qiangba Buddha Hall has the world's largest gilded Buddha statue. His nostrils can accommodate a seven or eight-year-old child to pass freely. The whole body uses more than 6,700 taels of gold, and the white hair between the eyebrows uses more than 30 large diamonds; The cost of the Lingta of the Panchen Lama in the past dynasties is more than 60 million yuan, the bottom layer is filled with barley and tea, the second layer is the items used by the tenth Panchen Lama, and the third layer is the true body of the Panchen Lama. The guide of Tashilhunpo Monastery is very familiar with the monks in each hall. She said that she didn't study well when she was a child and didn't pass the exam, so she was in the temple when she was a teenager, from helping to learning to now working here, while chatting about these, she naturally picked up the garbage on the ground, holding it in her hand until she threw it into the trash can.
The architectural style of the Sakya Sect is significantly different from that of the Gelug Sect. When the car enters Sakya Village, the buildings along the way change from the red and white tone of the Gelug Sect to the red and black tone. I used to think that Basiba was the founder of the Sakya Sect. Today I learned that he was the fifth leader of the Sakya Sect and he established the Sakya regime. There are countless treasures in the South Temple. The distant white conch is said to have been used by Sakyamuni and was later given to Basiba by Kublai Khan. The scriptures of the Huihai Jing Mountain Hall are shocking, and there is also a 2-meter-long, 1-meter-wide, and 70-jin iron ring scripture. Many places in Sakya Monastery have no Chinese characters, no explanation, and are mysterious. At an altitude of 4300 meters, I climbed up the ladder of liberation with a cowhide rope, and the Buddha Hall above was mysterious and there was no explanation, no Chinese characters.
I found along the way that the 5000km monument of 318 is not at the actual measurement point.
