We travel as family of 1 adult and 3 teens. Staying in a Japanese room for 3+1 for 5 nights.
Room: With all futons out, not much room to move around. So we kept our 5 carry on luggage in the hallway. Not a big issue.
Kitchen: good for simple cooking and heat up.
Location: 15 minutes walk from JR station, 9 minutes walk from Kintetsu station, no need for a taxi. Also can walk to museum Todaiji and Kasuga Tsushima. Deers downstairs in the morning. Our room has great view of the pond and pagoda.
Facilities: washing basin is on the balcony instead of with toilet and shower due to its original function as local government hostel. Public bath although not spring water, still good enough to enjoy traditional Japanese. Convenience store in basement open till 7:30pm. Small clothes drying rack is convenient for overnight underwear or socks.
Reception: great service with always someone speaks languages other than Japanese. Also it has free daily activities such as making origami deers. Great place to have a relaxed tour in Nara.
The downside of the place is the wifi signal a bit weak inside the room, while perfect near the hallway and inside the building. Also the coin laundry and dryers really need a good clean or replace the filter more regularly.
All in all, a great experience staying in the Nara Visitor Inn! Thanks!
The boss is a Chinese girl who is very nice. She can introduce authentic local life suggestions, supermarkets, food, and entertainment. In addition, the traditional Japanese-style one-family structure allows you to feel the quiet local culture, which is great. In addition, the transportation is convenient, and you can get out of the bustle. Jing, it’s not far from Tsutaya Bookstore, Montball or Don Quixote, and it’s also very close to JR Nara Station.
The transportation is very convenient. After getting off the airport bus, you can walk about 200 meters to the hotel. It is very close to various attractions in Nara. The public transportation is very convenient. The hotel also has a small hot spring area, which is also very good.
This place was so cute and excellent. Staff didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate easily enough. Room was Japanese Ryokan style. Tatami mats, low table. It had everything needed, shower and toilet in the room too. There is also an onsen that you can reserve for your private use. I asked for a time later at night and they still had one spot available. If you can't get a time then it is ”public use” after 22:00, which seems to mean that you might need to share if others want to join. Location was very good, right in the middle of the historic part of town and a short walk (<5 min) to Nara park to see the deer. Hotel was very nice and clean. I was here in late December and the air conditioning heater in the room was very good too.
After visiting the deer, you can buy whatever you like at the convenience store and cook it at the hotel...😊 you can spend the night without any problems
Don't forget your pajamas and other overnight items... We only have a shower, but we have shampoo, conditioner, and body care products🧴
The parking lot is free on normal days, so it was convenient
From the smoking area on the upper floor, you can see the deer relaxing and eating grass until they return to their sleeping places...
We really appreciated the stay at the old traditionnal timber house, everything is kept in its style. The lifestyle also is part of the house : everyone is playing the game, being very silent and respectful, sharing a very nice traditionnal kitchen. The house may miss one more shower but it still works. I totally recommand the experience !!
The location of the hotel is very good, a 5-minute walk from JR Nara Station, just across from Matsuya to the guesthotel. B&B is tired and the hotel is officially connected to the passport network. The boss and the proprietress have super good English, and there is no pressure to communicate. They will show you how to play, how to take a car, etc., jr station to 78 of Toshodai Temple and ring 1 to Nara Park Both roads are very convenient. You can buy one-day pass bus tickets directly at the hotel, and you can also rent bicycles. The hotel provides bath towels, additional toothbrushes and other charges (100en), garbage bags will be replaced, simple cleaning and make bed will be changed, bedding will be replaced if staying more than three days, wifi is available, toilet paper is enough. The hot water is plentiful and hot, and the water flow is not small. The rooms are always small but complete in Japanese style. They are clean and tidy, separated from dry and wet, with thoughtful layout. The doors and access control are all electronic locks. The washbasin is no hotwater and a bit small. It can be used as a washbasin. You have to go to the bathroom to wash your face with hot water. It is not a big problem if it is not cold. There are free comics to watch in the public area, free coffee, tea and drinking water, kitchens are available, the parking lot next to it is cheap at 500en for 24h, there is a Matsuya opposite the breakfast, and there are drinks vending machines downstairs. Suitable for backpackers and young travelers who are self-sufficient and self-sufficient. The room should not be able to add an extra bed. The rooms are kept quiet for each other, not suitable for families with noisy children. The price/performance ratio is very high, and I will choose to live next time I come to Nara.
Idealy located to visit Shigisan, a 5min walk from the entrance !
A very pleasant Onsen (indoor and Outdoor) is in the hotel.
Note however that they don't serve diner and all restaurants are closed in the evening, so make sure you plan accordingly !
A typical Japanese small hotel. Experience the awesome tatami accommodation in Japan. The service is in place.
At the end of October, although the weather was cold, there was air conditioning for heating.
The hotel is a four-minute walk from Nara Kintetsu Station.
You can walk to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara Park, and Todaiji Temple. Good location.
There are deer at the door and Mount Wakakusa next to it. It is very close to various attractions. Although the boss does not speak the language, he is very enthusiastic and gave me a map. There is a public restaurant, toilet, and shower. The room is clean. There are deer outside the window. It's just that it's a mountain road. I was exhausted from pulling the luggage. I searched for a long time and found it on a big staircase.

GGuest UserThe location is right in the shopping street and also at the Kintetsu exit, it is only 15 minutes to go to the park. The staff is warm and courteous, the hot springs are fine but quiet enough. The hotel is old but tidy, there is no daily necessities except old towels, including a blow dryer in the hot spring area, and there is nothing towels lock. Of course, this price can't be too much, remember this is a hotel. I was impressed by the invincible location and courteous staff, I can't say whether I like it or not.
GGabby1109Located in a quiet quaint neighborhood. It was storming so I didn't get an opponent to enjoy the river and it's surrounding which the accommodation was just next to. But the spacious room came as a joy but unfortunately the beddings were not comfortable. Could feel the bed springs and the pillow overly soft. Wished that they provided tatami beddings instead.
Check in details were not provided via booking on trip.com but thankfully could easily contact the owner via WhatsApp. Overall still a great experience.
GGuest UserMost enjoyable stay with very friendly and competent hosts. Our room was very large traditional tatami room overlooking nice back garden. Dinner and breakfast were excellent based on fresh local ingredients. Location could not be better, on the main street leading to Hasadera temple. If
you are looking for authentic Japanese stay we highly recommend this establishment. We hope to be back here again.

AArbbear1. Japanese-style rooms are spacious and elegant. The mattress is thick enough so it doesn't feel like sleeping on the floor. The quilt is also very soft and comfortable.
2. There are mountains and rivers outside the window, and the scenery is pleasant. This river should be the Totsu River, but there are actually hot springs underneath.
3. Both dinner and breakfast were rich and delicious. The grandpa also explained each dish to us.
4. We went there at the end of December and it was very cold in the mountains. Although it looks like a Japanese-style window made of paper, the room is very warm.
5. There is an outdoor bath, so beautiful. You must take a bath outdoors~
