I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Macau multiple times, and it used to be consistently excellent. I always felt it offered great value for money, primarily because I trust IHG's management, ensuring cleanliness, and the location is incredibly convenient. For someone without overly high demands, it's definitely a recommended choice.
However, this stay felt like the hotel has started cutting corners. Many amenities are no longer provided: no cotton swabs, no charging cables, and even the IHG Rewards welcome drink was gone. Plus, I felt a bit misled. It was my mistake for not reading the booking details carefully and selecting a 'random room' type. After a concert, I checked in quite late and asked for a twin room, only to be told none were available. They then offered me ”the best king room in the entire hotel”! What I got was just a room with an extra two-seater sofa 😅😅😅, and a bathroom where you had to step into the tub just to shower. 😂😂😂
I hope the hotel sees picture four and addresses the issues.
I brought my child to Macau for a competition and only stayed one night. This room type has one large bed and a sofa bed, which was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child. The room was clean and quite spacious. It's very close to the Border Gate and Qingmao Port, just a 13-minute walk away. Across the road downstairs is the Lai Lai Supermarket, and on the second floor of the hotel, there's a Chinese restaurant with reasonable prices, making it very convenient. Both the front desk and room service staff spoke Mandarin and were very friendly.
The hotel's location is fantastic! There's a bus stop right downstairs with direct routes to the airport, Taipa Ferry Terminal, various hotels in Taipa, and even the Macau Peninsula – super convenient. The room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was nice and soft, which was great for staying with a child. All the toiletries and slippers were provided for free. Plus, there's a whole street of great eateries just downstairs. It's a shame that Yang Zhi Jin Lao, a restaurant downstairs, was under renovation during my stay and I could only order takeout. All in all, this hotel offers excellent value for money and I highly recommend it.
Fantastic! The staff were so warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious.
I highly recommend the Kyoto Restaurant's double dinner set; it's incredibly good value for money. To be able to have such an amazing meal in Macau for around 100 [currency, assuming MOP or HKD based on context] is unbeatable. I'll definitely be back!
I was very satisfied with this hotel. It's located in a residential area in the city center, making it super convenient to get to places like St. Paul's Ruins, yet it's still away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Downstairs, there are tons of eateries, and right across the street, you'll find a Lai Lai Pharmacy and a Lai Lai Supermarket. The only downside is that the soundproofing needs improvement; I was woken up by a child next door after 10 PM. I'll definitely book here again next time.
The location is excellent, right across from Grand Lisboa, just a 2-minute walk. I stayed on the 11th floor; the room was very clean and tidy, with no strange smells. The bathroom was well-equipped with soap, a shower cap, and lotion. The bed was comfortable. There was only one UK-style power outlet near the dressing table, and the one by the bed was a USB charging port. The soundproofing could be a bit better. It's super close to the 21A/26A bus stop and the famous Lao Day Beef Offal, and Senado Square is also very nearby. Overall, it's great.
The hotel room was small, but surprisingly comfortable and cozy. The best part was its fantastic location; we could walk to everything on the Macau Peninsula, and catching the Grand Lisboa shuttle to Taipa Island was incredibly convenient. The only downside was that the breakfast was the same for all four days, with very limited options.
I booked this hotel for a weekend trip to Macau with my parents. The location is a bit out of the way, but Macau is small, and public transport is convenient. It's a 30-minute walk to St. Paul's Ruins, or four bus stops, and getting to the border gates is easy. However, there aren't many dining options near the hotel; after 9 PM, apart from the supermarket right outside, there's nowhere to eat. The lobby on the first floor is tiny, more like a guesthouse. The family room itself was quite spacious, but the furnishings were old and basic. The price was very high for a weekend, over 800 RMB on Ctrip, while it's only around 300 RMB on Sundays and weekdays. A night at a luxurious hotel in Fisherman's Wharf only costs 500-600 RMB. This was the worst hotel we stayed at during our entire trip.
The facilities are a bit old, and the soundproofing isn't great. Also, because it's so close to the airport, we couldn't open the windows, which led to a slight musty smell in the room. However, the big advantage is that it's just across the road from the airport, and it's super convenient to get to most places by light rail or car. For the price, I'd say it offers pretty good value for money.
Meeting Selene for the first time, I was immediately struck by the genuine smile in her eyes—it wasn't a professional facade, but pure sincerity. During check-in, she quietly informed me that my room had been complimentary upgraded, as if sharing a delightful little secret. With patience, she circled authentic local eateries on the map: the beef offal hotpot downstairs, a late-night dessert shop, and the alleys near Senado Square, all within walking distance. Every detail conveyed a thoughtful 'I'm treating you like a friend' vibe.
What truly impressed me was her gentle demeanor and composure. Even with the phone ringing constantly behind her, she calmly and unhurriedly answered all my questions.
Selene truly brought warmth to the hotel. If Art House is Macao's artistic living room, then she is the warmest lamp in that room—making you want to return again and again.

GGuest UserFacilities: Very complete, they even have bathtubs!
Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Housekeeping comes to clean every day.
Environment: Quiet and comfortable with floor heating, which kept it very warm.
Service: Very warm and welcoming. It's right across from Fisherman's Wharf, so it's perfect for watching the sunrise.

GGuest UserHotels in Macau are generally very clean. Initially, I was worried about the prices here and considered booking something near Gongbei Port. But then I saw that the difference in cost was quite small and totally acceptable, so we decided to stay in Macau. This is a great hotel, and it's not too far from the Ruins of St. Paul's. We walked there, stopping for a meal along the way, so it took a bit longer, but it's probably less than a 20-minute walk if you go straight there.

GGuest UserThe environment was pretty good, but they were renovating when I stayed, so there was some construction noise during the day. The front desk informed me about it beforehand. Overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. There are lots of food options near the hotel, like Hee Leen Cafe and Dino Burger. It's also quite close to Rua do Cunha, about a 15-minute walk. Getting to The Venetian by taxi only takes a few minutes. I'd very likely stay here again on my next trip to Macau.
YYuyuyuyuyuyeaGreat location! The bus stop is right downstairs. The hotel is on a small hill, and if you turn left and go up a couple of slopes, you'll reach the fort.
The bedding felt a bit damp, but it was acceptable. The cleanliness was very good!
It's an older hotel, so it has a very retro vibe!
The front desk gave us a free upgrade!
