Dunnarts are nocturnal animals very exotic to Australia and are rarely ever during the day time outside their feeding time, so make sure to visit them between 10:00 to 3:00. The caravan park, situated on the northern end of Julia Creek, is an excellent nature trail. Take a stroll there early morning to catch the exotic birds and wildlife. 

The vintage scrap metal collected by Sue Tilley to build a sculpture named ‘Samson’. The extraordinaire Light Brigade silhouettes compliment the sculpture and are not to be missed. 

While the town has its charm, most things fall short of the 25-year-old Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival in April. There’s PBR Bullriding to test your rodeo skills. There’s an array of musical talents from all over the country, with great performances to sit back and enjoy.  Great Aussie names have graced the festival over the years and never disappoints. And if you are in a dancing mood, enrol in Australia’s Best Butt for some booty-shaking dance competition.
