ZailushangweixiaoA relaxing, slow-paced trip! The room was spacious and cozy. The front desk ladies were enthusiastic, lively, beautiful, and thoughtful fairies. It was also very convenient for late-night snacks and ordering takeout – the delivery driver provided excellent and thorough service. I'm looking forward to my next stay! The laundry and drying facilities were very convenient. It's right across from Daiwang Mansion, so after exploring from the South Gate, it was super easy to head back for a good night's sleep.

qazxswrThe transportation is convenient, and the inn's shuttle service is incredibly punctual. The owner is warm and thoughtful; they coordinated pick-up and drop-off times in advance, so there was no waiting at all. The guesthouse's location is superb, just a few minutes' walk to explore Pingyao Ancient City. The room was spotless, and the bedding and bathroom were clean and fresh. The service was meticulous and attentive; any requests were responded to quickly. They even gave us a souvenir when we checked out. The overall experience far exceeded our expectations. If you're visiting Pingyao, staying here is a no-brainer – highly recommended!

HaitunhuanghouAllow me to share my honest experience at this hotel in Datong: On the 9th day of my Shanxi trip, I caught a cold in Shuozhou. Upon arriving in Datong that evening, I chose to stay at Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion. Just before going to bed, I noticed the bed frame making creaking noises. I contacted the butler, who explained that rosewood furniture can sometimes expand in the summer, causing friction and noise. As soon as the butler learned I had a cold, without a word, he immediately offered me a complimentary upgrade to a duplex room. He didn't leave until I confirmed that the new bed was silent. I had such a restful sleep that night. At breakfast, the waitress proactively asked if my cold was getting better and prepared ginger brown sugar tea and a light dinner for me. When she saw that I had a delivery person bring a bucket to soak my feet, she asked the kitchen chef to cut some ginger for me, suggesting I boil it to soak my feet to dispel dampness and cold. She also told me to rest for a while after soaking and not to rush checking out. This was the most touching day of my 10-day trip. Datong is truly magnificent! The people of Shanxi are genuinely simple and kind. The room's facilities were impeccable. If you're visiting Datong, I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

QingqinanqiThe room layout was sensible, with one large bed and one 1.2-meter smaller bed, plus two bathrooms. It's very suitable for families with children. The room was clean, with a separate wet and dry area, and the bathtub was a nice touch for families with kids. The robot service was a big hit with the children.
Service: The service could use some improvement, for example, helping with luggage when entering and leaving, providing children's bathrobes and toothbrushes in family rooms, and offering welcome fruits.

Fantastic stay. Staff provided impeccable service and advice. The tour suggestions were on point and proactive (e.g. informing us that light showers were forecasted and they had readied umbrellas if we needed them). Most of the staff was fluent in English.
Rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Smart use of the different courtyards meant that rooms are very private and that, overall, it was very calm and serene.
The property is located centrally near one of the major intersections within the old centre and most points of interests can be reached on foot in 20-30 min.
If you are travelling with heavier luggage, then the hotel provides transport against an additional charge. The cost (150 RMB per way from/to the high speed train station) is well worth the money as you get dropped off just outside the pedestrian area (but within the city walls) a few hundred meters from the hotel and staff arranges for the luggage to be brought to the hotel. Taxis can’t drive that far into the old city.

Jiu Heli is absolutely fantastic! The owner personally provides pick-up and drop-off service, and the young lady at the front desk is incredibly kind and enthusiastic. The environment and service in all aspects are truly excellent 👍. They even provide high-end L'Occitane toiletries and DeYou face towels and bath towel sets. Seriously, when you stay at Jiu Heli, you don't need to bring any toiletries of your own 😂 haha! I'll definitely choose Jiu Heli B&B again next time I'm in Datong! I highly recommend it to everyone!!! 🤩

Guest UserI stayed at the Tingbo Hotel, and the location is absolutely fantastic, right at the entrance of the scenic area. You can step out and start exploring immediately, which is incredibly convenient. The room was spotless, so clean you could see your reflection, and the bed was super soft – I woke up feeling completely refreshed. The front desk staff were wonderful, always patiently answering my questions, truly thoughtful. I especially loved the hotel's decor style; it's very unique. Every corner is meticulously arranged and looks amazing in photos. Plus, the hotel service was excellent; it was such a pleasant stay. The value for money at this hotel is incredible. The price wasn't expensive, but the service and facilities were outstanding. It felt like a great deal. The hotel is clean, and its location near the north gate of the ancient city means you can walk everywhere, which is very convenient. I'll definitely come back next time.

Anna X. P.This hotel was the best one we stayed at during our trip to China (Taiyuan/Xi'an/Beijing), even though the hotels in the other two cities were also very good and unique.
The hotel is designed in the style of a traditional Shanxi compound, which is incredibly distinctive. It features multiple courtyards, each with its own unique ambiance, making it perfect for photos. The hotel offers a free 'young lady' (少奶奶) / Hanfu dress-up experience. We didn't pay for additional makeup and styling, but still took many great photos around the hotel ourselves.
The hotel's location is also superb. It's just a 2-minute walk to Food Street and Liuxiang Pedestrian Street, a paradise for foodies and shoppers. The former Governor's Mansion and Jinshang Museum are also within walking distance. Despite being so close to the hustle and bustle, the hotel itself is situated on a quiet alley, completely undisturbed by the outside noise.
The breakfast offered by the hotel was something we looked forward to every morning, eager to go and eat. It was a thoughtfully prepared, nutritious breakfast, very rich, and excellent in color, aroma, and taste.
Enjoying complimentary afternoon tea in the courtyard; free self-service laundry... the hotel truly offers a comprehensive range of services.
Most notably, their service stands out – every staff member is friendly and dedicated.
Next time I visit Taiyuan, I will definitely stay there again.

The location is fantastic, right on the edge of the old town center. The building itself is beautiful, a charming and historic old structure. The underfloor heating wasn't very warm, so we had to use the air conditioning, which made it a bit dry in winter. The shower had low water pressure and felt weak, though the sink faucet was fine. Overall, it was okay. If you're visiting the old town, I'd still recommend staying in one of these old inns within the walls; it's convenient for getting around and a great way to experience a centuries-old building.
