4-Star Hotels in Crete, Greece

The spa - hamam, sauna and indoor pool (1m deep though?!) is the hotel’s best feature. There is no beach access though, so I went to Nea Hora and Golden beach. Rooms - too small, lack of storage space, complex buttons and unnecessarily complicated console. It was quiet even though I was given a 2nd floor room. The overall signage in the hotel is confusing too. Beds and pillows - huge and comfy. Food - excellent. Massage decent. Toiletries good. Only frontal views are of the sea, but cost 10x more! Otherwise - trash can views!😤 A la carte breakfast - too slow, you eat less, always a misunderstanding… and after you order they take away the menu… Rooftop pool - a scam! Sunbeds always occcupied and need to be booked to see the sunset 🙄 there is another rooftop on 7th floor but after 10min you want to leave, because there are no showers, a pool, toilet or a bar… Staff is young, fakely polite, too slow and not very responsive - obviously trained for certain types of guests (culturally unexperienced). So even to get a locker in the spa you had to wait to be explained how to unlock it (and pass a test?!), even though there are two people at the reception desk. My coffee capsules, sweetener, and teas were not replaced the following morning during the housekeeping visit and a used glass was not washed. The balcony pool is tiny and got a lot of fluff from the street, plus I didn’t feel comfortable using it with it being visible from the street and building right across the street. I was also called at 21:30 (I was asleep?!) to check whether I was satisfied with a complimentary 30min massage (due to the poor room view)… 🤷🏼♀️ I understand that it is a new hotel and they are trying their best but I also paid 800+€ for two nights and was frustrated during 50% of my stay… 😒 I attended a high school for tourism and hospitality, worked as a masseuse, also and worked in 5-* hotels Chania 30 years ago, but stayed in a multitude of 4-5 star hotels worldwide since. Especially in Asia where the service is top notch. Therefore, all of this is not acceptable for such a high price. Yes, the welcome drink is nice, and so is the complimentary massage, but you should do better, Hilton!

Well located comfortable hotel. Rooms small but well fitted all was good, but the wifi let the place down. Breakfast was a highlight. Great selection of quality food. Staff were capable and welcoming

I was tired from traveling, so I chose a centrally located hotel with front desk service, which was acceptable. I booked two nights on Ctrip, but the hotel provided two separate reservations, with different rooms and different rates, requiring separate check-ins. This meant I had to pack and check out after one night, then check in, and then go back to the front desk after 2 PM to get a key card for the other room. I felt that, regardless of the reason, the hotel shouldn't burden the guest with such hassle after promising two nights of service. (Ibis also had this issue: two reservations at different rates, but they didn't allow me to change rooms.) Furthermore, the hotel had an open-air bar downstairs, making it impossible for guests to get some rest before midnight. None of this was what guests wanted.

Nice location and clean

The hotel is in a great location to the town and the staff were very friendly. I would not recommend the standard room as it was extremely small and felt claustrophobic, we did try to upgrade the day we got there but they were unfortunately fully booked, as a couple with two suitcases there was no room whatsoever and very limited hanging space so had to leave the suitcases open on the floor and climb over them to get around. The air con had mould growing out of it and left the room smelling awful. We were also only given two towels which are only changed once every three days, it would have been nice to get a hand towel so you aren't using the one towel for everything. This is also the case for pool towels they are only changed once every three days. I think the hotel would benefit from an overall refresh, painting etc and the pool to be cleaned more often, although the water was clear there was green mould build up around the sides as well as the white pool loungers. I would not say that our room was 4 stars but that may have been based on the bigger rooms that are available.

Our stay at Selected Suite was simply perfect! The location is amazing, and the room itself is unbelievable, everything brand new, with stunning design and incredible comfort. The space is large, with a beautiful terrace, a huge shower, and modern detail, the steam room was a big bonus after a long day.  Honestly, the decoration is so impressive I could happily live here. Everything was spotless every single day, it’s honestly one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed. I felt so comfortable that I never wanted to leave. The team even prepared a wonderful birthday surprise for my partner, which made our stay extra special. Parking was very easy, the reception is available at all times and always helpful, and the cleaning ladies are just fantastic, smiling, kind, and doing an excellent job. A very special thank you to Ayu, who was absolutely adorable and made our stay unforgettable with her kindness and warmth. I recommend this place 100%! I cannot wait to come back. Honestly, I couldn’t find a single thing to improve everything was truly perfect.

We stayed at May Hotel for two nights before flying back to Germany, and overall we had a pleasant stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated being allowed to check in early. We booked the half-board option, and both the breakfast and dinner were good. Breakfast offered a nice variety of choices, and dinner was tasty with enough selection. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The hotel also has a gym with enough equipment for a basic workout, which was a nice bonus during our stay. The hotel itself is comfortable, although the rooms and facilities feel a bit outdated and could benefit from some renovation. The location is also not the most convenient, as there is no direct beach access—you’ll need to walk a few minutes to reach the beach. Overall, it’s a good value for money with excellent service, comfortable rooms, decent food, and useful amenities. With some modernization and a more convenient beach location, it would easily be an even better stay.

The hotel is very conveniently located 30 meters from the sea and has its own sunbeds. I had a room on the 1st floor (other rooms are different, I recommend to negotiate the 1st floor when you book). It was an almost perfect spacious apartment for 1-2 people. ”Almost” only because the kitchen is really basic, you cannot really cook anything more complex than a sausage. On the other hand, why would you cook even a sausage, if there are so many nice places with excellent food around? The bed, bathroom, furniture and everything else are all in excellent condition. Large terrace with a view on the yard and even on a bit of the see. The best part are Maria and Veronika, who keep it all in order and clean and kindly help you out with all your problems. Just do not be shy to ask. I had a very late flight home, so they let me land in another extra room until evening. Truly appreciate warm personal attitude which is impossible in bigger fancy resorts. Absolutely stunning place in a perfect location just a short stroll along the sea front to the historic old town of Chania and the Venetian Harbour. In the other direction an even shorter stroll to the harbour and Nea Chora beach - which has a ton of bars shops and restaurants. Property is directly on the seafront in a real tranquil location - with a beautiful pool and incredible sea views everywhere you stood. The staff were fantastic and even contacted me on WhatsApp prior to my stay to arrange my check in. Had my room ready early - which was fabulous. I was incredibly lucky to have a suite with a hot tub right on the sea front - beautifully decorated, fresh, clean and the views from the balcony were incredible. I believe breakfast is included for all guests, which was lovely with a wide variety of hot and cold food drinks and pastries. The only criticism is of myself that I didn’t stay longer. I would come back in a heartbeat!
