I booked the hotel because I wanted to stay close to Buddha Stupa in Boudhanath and this is by far my best experience in Kathmandu. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk to the Stupa, but very quiet and private. There is an old monastery inside the hotel, and part of the profit from the hotel goes to support the monks in monastery. Morning yoga session is 8am to 9am led by a monk, but I always slept in so couldn’t make it (my fault!). Breakfast was delicious and I highly recommend the puri with potatoes and beans fillings. The hotel manager and staffs are very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the stay even more pleasant. Thank you all, it’s been a great experience staying Hotel Dolmaling. I would definitely come back here the next time I’m in Nepal!

This is a newly built hotel, and it's rare to find such clean bathrooms in Nepal. It's located in a quiet spot at the entrance of Thamel, right next to the Garden of Dreams. While it's a bit far from central areas like Durbar Square, it's a great place to stay if you're looking for peace and quiet at the hotel. Since it seems brand new, the room was exceptionally clean. The bathroom was also spotless, so I felt very comfortable using it. The breakfast area on the 8th floor offered a lovely view. The front desk staff were polite, but during breakfast, I noticed other guests were asked for their egg orders, whereas I wasn't (perhaps because I had already taken scrambled eggs). Also, coffee (other than instant) at breakfast was an extra charge.

A fantastic hotel with beautiful architecture and wooden detailing. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Free yoga in the morning on the rooftop and a walking tour is provided upon request. The rooms are large with lots of light. The bathroom is functional with good water pressure. For winter, an electric blanket, portable heater and hot water bottles are supplied. Delicious and well priced breakfast. Amazing value for money.

Conveniently located close to Thamel, this hotel offers fantastic service throughout the stay. The room is slightly small, but well-designed by Nepal standards. The walls are mostly soundproof, although some noise from flushing toilets and items being dropped in neighbouring rooms can still be heard. The lifts are relatively quick, which is a plus. The breakfast is delicious, complemented by excellent service from the staff. Overall, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The only downside is the absence of a swimming pool, but that was on me for not checking the facilities for a swimming pool.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the service, as well as the food is excellent. The rooms however, are very old and small (we were able to change rooms after bringing this up with reception). The location is in Thamel and getting to nearby attractions is convenient

Location Very central in Thamel, within walking distance to key areas, restaurants, and festival venues. Ideal when the city is busy due to events like NIFF (held April 2–6, 2026 in Kathmandu). Pros: 24-hour front desk service, early check-in available. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the center of Thamel. The hotel's exterior and interior decor are quite good. Cons: The hotel is located in an inconspicuous alley, so you need to pay close attention to the map to find its exact location. A security guard from the front desk met us and helped us with our luggage. The breakfast was excellent and delicious 😋. Summary: Overall, the hotel is decent, and the owner speaks Chinese. A great hotel in the heart of the Thamel district. Both the rooms and common areas are decorated in a national style, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The panoramic restaurant on the 7th floor is fantastic – delicious food with a diverse breakfast buffet and an extensive menu for other meals, including both local and European dishes. The hotel also has a very good spa, though it doesn't operate late into the evening. The staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend.

The hotel lobby is bright and spacious, and the front desk staff are polite. The room matched the pictures, with plenty of space and wooden furniture, giving it a warm feel. The bathroom was clean, and while the shower pressure was a bit weak, it was acceptable. Breakfast is served from 7-10 AM, and it's a buffet with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, convenient for vegetarians. The hotel's service is truly excellent. It's truly amazing that they managed to create such a peaceful little courtyard in the bustling heart of Tamil Nadu! Plus, you can solve most of your needs right here without even leaving the hotel. I'll definitely be back! Facilities: The garden is perfect for afternoon tea and reading. A bit disappointed I didn't get to try the rooftop yoga this time. Ambiance: Quite good. Breakfast: Comparable to a 3-star hotel in China; it got a bit repetitive by the second day. But it's not a big issue, as many popular breakfast spots are within walking distance. Service: Attentive and reliable, and they don't intrude, which I really appreciate. Special shout-out: The shower water pressure! A must-have for long hair!
