CCheelipI had an amazing 7 days and 6 nights stay at Ohla Barcelona. From the moment I arrived, it completely exceeded my expectations.
Beyond being a beautiful five-star hotel with a rooftop pool, gym, rooftop bar, and a Michelin one-star restaurant, what truly impressed me was the warmth of the service and the genuine focus on guest experience.
Even before arriving, I received thoughtful emails from their Experience Team — and yes, they actually call it the Experience Team — asking if there was anything I needed ahead of check-in. It immediately made the stay feel personal and intentional.
Upon checking in, guests are welcomed with free-flow bubbly from Barcelona, trays of chocolates, and a hospitality team that genuinely makes you feel cared for. The hotel also has its own app where you can request amenities, special pillows, support pillows, and other essentials conveniently. There is also a dedicated concierge/help desk that gives excellent recommendations for dining and things to do around the city.
The location is another huge highlight. The hotel sits directly across from Palau de la Música Catalana, and within walking distance to the Barcelona Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter, where every street and building feels layered with history and character. It’s the perfect place to slow down, wander through the Gothic streets, and eventually make your way toward El Born for dinner.
Even when heading further out to places like Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, or Casa Milà, everything is only a short taxi ride away, which made the stay incredibly convenient.
I also appreciated the well-equipped gym and sauna, which allowed me to maintain my workout routine while travelling.
One of the nicest touches was the turndown service every evening. There were always handwritten notes waiting for us, along with chocolates, little surprises, complimentary pictorial books about Barcelona, and even bottles of wine in the room. None of it felt performative or overly scripted. The warmth felt sincere and heartfelt.
Design-wise, the hotel strikes a beautiful balance between old and new Barcelona. From the exterior, you still see the classic architectural curves and aged character of the city, while inside, the interiors are dark, modern, contemporary, and thoughtfully designed. Cozy rooms, elegant marble finishes, and a global design sensibility that would appeal to travellers who appreciate aesthetics, comfort, and detail.
The breakfast buffet was also excellent, and every member of the staff always seemed ready to help and serve with genuine hospitality.
I truly enjoyed my stay here, and if I return to Barcelona, I would absolutely stay here again. Easily one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Spain, if not the best.

YYiduan-/-lvxingThe hotel has a good location, with many restaurants nearby and several metro lines. It's within walking distance of the Palau de la Música, the Gothic Quarter, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà. The hotel rooms aren't large, but they're acceptable. The bathroom, while small, is functional. The king-size bed is made of two double beds pushed together, and the bedding is comfortable. Breakfast starts at 7:30 AM. If you have plans for the morning, you can book a room without breakfast. However, the hotel breakfast is quite substantial, including freshly squeezed orange juice, various cheeses and breads, and marinated salmon. On our last day, we had to catch a train and didn't have time for breakfast, so we told the restaurant in advance, and they prepared takeaway breakfast boxes for us to eat on the train. This hotel, like the one we stayed at in Madrid, is part of the 'Catalonia Hotels and Resorts' group, and we had a very good experience with both.

AAnonymous UserI might be slightly harsh about this hotel and setting standards too high, but upon checking in to my room, I found the room to be somewhat old (normal given to age), but the water kettle was extremely dirty (hotel was kind to give me a replacement). Service was good, as expected from a 5 star hotel. Location was decent, a bit far from the tourist action which was nice. Saturday nights = party on the roof top bar which meant lots of noise and music even on the 9th floor. I was hoping for better but maybe this is what 5 star meant in Barcelona? I am not sure, I had a pleasant stay for my 4 nights but there were some ups and downs. Good restaurant, nice lobby. Also the bathroom window is completely see-through so if you like your privacy you might want to request it being blocked before you stay. Nice view from the roof.

GGuest UserThe room is new and quite nice. They offer free luggage storage, and the front desk staff are very welcoming. You can also get free water and coffee at the front desk every day. However, the bed is a bit soft, which might not be suitable for people prone to back pain. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area with authentic bars and restaurants nearby. It's not too far and not too close to the city's attractions; walking might be a bit tiring, so public transport is usually needed. However, it's very close to the subway and bus stations, which is convenient.

GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious; my friend and I had no problem opening up both our suitcases. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making showers and hair washing quite comfortable. The location is pretty good too – a bit far from the subway but there's a bus stop right outside. It's super convenient for getting to Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, and Sagrada Família. The area feels safe, with plenty of food and drink options nearby. The staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently, so communication was a breeze.
However, there were a few issues. Firstly, there was no shower curtain for the bathtub, so the bathroom floor was soaked every time we showered, and it got quite chilly after a while. Secondly, the duvet didn't have a proper cover; instead, two sheets were used above and below it, and all three layers were tucked in so tightly under the mattress by the staff that we had to struggle to pull the duvet out every night. We ended up asking the front desk not to make our beds for the rest of our stay. Though, I hear this duvet cover situation might be common in Europe. Lastly, the soundproofing was really poor. We were lucky our neighbors weren't too noisy, and my friend and I aren't particularly sensitive to sound, but you could honestly hear every little thing happening next door. All in all, it was a mixed bag, but for the price and location, we couldn't really expect much more.

GGuest UserThis was my very first time planning a solo trip abroad, and I was admittedly quite anxious after paying the full price and then reading some mixed reviews. Since the policy didn’t allow cancellations, I checked in with a bit of worry—but I’m really glad I did.
The room turned out to be pleasantly clean and well-organized. I particularly liked the layout: there are two doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, which gave me a strong sense of privacy and security while resting. Another highlight was the lovely scent in the room—it instantly made me feel at ease and almost like being at home. (If possible, I’d love to ask what kind of aroma sachet or air freshener is used—I’d like to buy the same one!)
During mid-November, the evenings in Barcelona were slightly chilly, but the heating/air-conditioning unit in the room worked well and kept things comfortable. That said, when the unit is turned on, there’s a noticeable mechanical noise—it’s not too loud and didn’t disturb my rest, but worth mentioning.
I also appreciated how responsive the staff were. On my first night, I thought the external shutter in the room was broken. I reported it to the front desk, and the manager quickly sent someone to assist. It turned out the shutter was manually operated by a cord hidden behind the inner curtain on the far right—easy to miss at first glance.
Although the hotel isn’t in the city center, transportation was convenient—there’s a nearby bus stop within walking distance, with easy access to both the metro and Sants train station.
A nice bonus: just a 3-minute walk away is a bakery called Joncake & Wine, a branch of the famous Joncake. Their Basque cheesecake is incredible, and being a branch, it’s much less crowded than the main store. There’s also a small convenience store right downstairs—great for picking up water or other essentials.
One downside would be the soundproofing. The walls and floors seem quite thin, so I could hear voices and footsteps from the neighboring room. It wasn’t too disruptive for me, but worth noting.
Originally, I only planned to stay three nights, but I ended up liking it enough to extend for another three. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and became a memorable part of my solo trip to Spain.

GGuest UserThis hotel isn't in central Barcelona but in a nearby town, right by the yacht marina. The sea-view rooms are fantastic, perfect for a morning run or stroll along the coast. While the hotel facilities show their age a bit, the room size is decent, and the breakfast spread is quite good. Overall, a solid choice.

The hotel provides a ree shuttle minivan with advance notifications to a nearby metro station/shopping mall. It is less convenient with no local phone when booking a return pick up time because I couldn't foretell when I was able to return.
The staff was considerate to allow us to check in slightly earlier. Without additional cost

GGuest UserThis hotel is great for families, especially since it's close to the airport. The price is very reasonable, offering excellent value for money. It's perfect for a layover or for the night before a cruise.
We had an issue with Bolt drivers. They often messed us around and wouldn't pick us up, likely because the hotel is so close to the airport and they prioritize airport runs. I highly recommend asking the front desk to call a taxi directly to avoid any travel delays.

HHotel maniacThis hotel, being new in 2024, is clean and tidy, and the kitchenette is a convenient touch. The food at Amani restaurant was delicious. The breakfast buffet, however, was just average. The downside is that the staff aren't particularly friendly and don't seem to care about the guests. To be precise, at check-in, an employee named Jenia made a mistake and undercharged me. I didn't know about it, but the next day I received a text asking me to pay the remaining balance. I didn't mind paying the extra, but that evening, when I tried to enter my room, my key card didn't work. When I went to reception, I found out they had deliberately blocked my room to ensure I'd pay the outstanding amount. This is the first time I've encountered a hotel that treats guests this way. They could have called me, or left a message in the room, but instead, they chose this petty method of intentionally preventing me from entering my room. The staff just have a cheap mentality. I had to pay card fees twice for two transactions, and the exchange rate was rising. I explained it was a loss for me and asked why I should fix their employee's mistake, but they just said I had to pay. They wouldn't offer any compensation. Furthermore, the gym is small, and they keep all the doors closed, so the air is very stuffy. When I opened a window, they told me to close it for safety reasons. They kept coming to close it themselves. What's more, when I complained about the payment issue, they deflected by giving a ridiculous explanation that the problem was caused by me opening the gym door. When I requested to speak with the general manager, the female staff member I thought was the GM turned out to be just the Executive Housekeeper. We arranged a meeting, but there was no response, and she kept postponing it with excuses about having other meetings. Later, when I finally met her, she claimed she had been looking for me. They could have called, come to my room, or sent a text message. I'm really annoyed by the utterly unreasonable behavior of the staff. They say Tembo means 'elephant' and the building resembles an elephant, which is why it's named Tembo, but the staff have hearts smaller than ants.
