Great hotel for our short stay. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was very good, with lots of options. Bacon, egg (fried, scrambled or boiled) beans, toast and brown sauce was my choice. But there was a good choice of pastries and breads, yogurts and cream cheeses, meats etc etc.
The location was ideal on the main street, a short walk from the bus station where lots of the tours depart from.
Hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade after knowing that we were travelling for our honeymoon! Room was clean and spacious. Toilet floor was heated, definite plus point!
An unpretentious but comfortable hotel in an unbeatable location in central Tromso (the third photo is the view from the hotel window). Highlights include the friendly staff (a shout out here to the ever helpful Petter), tasty and healthy breakfast, and comfortable sitting areas that mean you don't have to hang out in your room.
Given the quality of the hotel it is surprising - and highly annoying - that they don't provide kettles in the room (I even offered to pay a deposit), the more frustrating because some photos on the site show coffee machines: so some rooms do have these facilities. The selection of toiletries is also surprisingly meagre - no shower gel for example, which seems unnecessarily cheapskate. My other gripe is that they need more individual tables in the breakfast room: finding a space at a long table feels reminiscent of youth hostelling...
With these shortcomings noted, the hotel can be recommended and is good value for Tromso.
Our best stay for the trip. The room is very big, clean and fully equipped. Good location, walking distance to the ferry terminal and 15 mins by bus to the airport. The bus stop is just the next street of the apartment. Shopping, groceries, eateries are all nearby. Lucky to see the northern light on the first night outside our apartment. Strongly recommend all to stay when you are in Tromso.
The hotel is outdated and is scheduled to be refurbished in 2025 or 2026.
The lobby is ”super” small with no design theme (for what that matters).
My room was small and poorly laid-out...plus, the bed was so soft it was uncomfortable and I knew my back would suffer, so I placed the thin topper on the floor and slept on that.
Once housekeeping left at the end of the day you could not obtain extra blankets or pillows...all I had was one small, rectangular pillow....I did not get a good sleep!
The gym could only be accessed by climbing a narrow, winding set of stairs...I never got there.
The front office staff was amazing...so pleasant and accommodating....despite all the demands placed on them.
I was thankful I was only staying for 1 night.
Even during the busy winter holiday season, I was able to have a comfortable stay without any mistakes.
I was able to eat the most delicious breakfast in Norway, which is unique to Norway. It was well-balanced, but it was really delicious, so be careful not to eat too much 😊
In the evening, it takes time when group check-ins overlap, but it's okay, they are efficient and everything went smoothly.
The room is equipped with a kettle and refrigerator, which is convenient.
This hotel is especially good value for money for travelers from Asia and travelers from all over the world. There are really many different languages spoken here.
A hotel that is located conveniently to many pick up points for tours. Grocery stores, 7-11 and restaurants are also located nearby. Simple amenities such as shampoo/body soap, towels, hairdryer are available. Love it that there is breakfast and dinner that comes together with your stay. Nothing too fancy but good enough to fill your bellies considering the restaurants are quite pricey. You will need to get hot water on your own at the dispenser as there are no kettle in the room. Reception was always friendly in answering any questions, and even helped with my cab booking to the airport. Worth it for the price, would stay here again.
The hotel environment is very good, the most impressive thing is that the breakfast is very rich, far exceeding expectations. The only fly in the ointment is that there is no free parking space, but parking nearby is also very convenient.
The room was very clean and large. We arrived later than dinner time and communicated with the hotel staff in advance, and they still left us a sumptuous dinner. The breakfast was delicious and the front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming

GGuest UserI stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and would recommend this hotel because of
-its location. While the bus is kr26 offpeak and 48 at peak) being able to walk to most places is important to me.
-its cleaniness. (Slightly dated in some part of room, but no stains on bed linen, no moulded bathroom)
-helpful staff including checkin, conference, and housekeeping
-good view (may depend on the room type and floor)
-wonderful breakfast
-good temperature control (18-20 degree Cel) in the room
- wooden floor in room (cleaner than carpet)
-no bad smell at all even in bathroom
- tea and coffee are always available in the lobby. Though self service, still feel warm and welcoming from the freezing outside.
- a little desk for working / writing plus a coffee table for other stuff. Two chairs are also included in this compact room which all come in handy.
- wifi is available for free
- a restaurant is available for dinner if you get hungry anytime after 4pm. I often feel rejected when I didnt make a booking in this town for dinner. So this hotel restaurant can be your safety net.
Tips from my point of view:
-Room is quite small even i booked a double room. Looks like a compact room to me. But i accepted since I travel solo and was happy about the view. If you care about the space, do go for the bigger rooms.
-those hooks in the bathroom can rarely hold the towels without falling on the floor. You will need to think of ways to deal with this.
- there are no tooth brush and tooth paste for free. Bring your own, or buy them here.
-you may notice that things in this town is quite expensive. No exception for this hotel. This is the most expensive hotel room that I have ever paid for in my life. This money is more than normal 5 stars hotels but please manage your expectation... It's all relative. Since this was the best fit for me among all the hotels here, i still chose this.
-there is a lugguage room open access to other customers too. So be prepared to hand carry anything valuable rather than leaving in the luggage room if you are careful.
- the weather here in winter may not be very welcoming for someone from the warmer part of the world. So having a good hotel and room is one of the main reasons that I can feel safe and warm here in Tromso.

GGuest UserThe Vander in Tromsø is a ”digital hotel.” There's no reception and no human contact person. That's not a bad thing. But you have to be aware of the situation. Check-in is either via mobile phone or the CI machine; you can also issue multiple plastic cards. This is definitely recommended. The risk is very low, but if your battery runs out, your phone breaks, etc., it's always better to have a backup. The room was relatively clean, and the furnishings were well-maintained. The Euro-Spar supermarket downstairs offers good shopping, and the Narstrada shopping center is just a few minutes away. Prices are OK by Norwegian standards. The city center can be reached in 5-10 minutes. We visited all the attractions on foot. The bus from the airport cost about €5, while Bolt was €20. Therefore, Bolt is worth considering for groups of three or more (or if your flight is very early/late). I can recommend Skaret by Vander if you're not afraid of online systems.

GGuest UserGood location near the airport by local bus within 5 min. View of the mountain is very nice. The staffs are helpful. The room is clean and everything is good except there is no amenities, besides body wash, shampoo and conditioner which is pretty enough.

SSAM30Didn’t take any pictures of our actual room, but it was as shown in pictures!
It was easy to spot the hotel. Also conveniently near supermarket, convenience store and petrol stations.
Our room faced the beautiful mountain so it was really nice to wake up to it.
Hotel buffet spread was just right and the whole place felt very homely. Staff were friendly as well!
Would definitely stay here again.
