"We live in Roma and visit Costa Smeralda/other parts of Sardegna multiple times/year as the island is one of our “happy places”. On our last trip we decided to try out the new W property...AMAZING! Highlights: — location, design and staff all incredible — contemporary yet still feels very “Sardinian” — fab pool/lounge area, sexy inside bar/lounge — excellent breakfast overlooking a yacht-filled marina — new gym & a nice beach club — property close to many restaurants, beach clubs, etc., so easy to explore surrounding area — gorgeous, bright rooms with great beds — friendly & high service-oriented staff We especially want to thank Erica (beyond lovely!) & Luciano @ the front desk, Santiago @ the beach club and Sofia @ the restaurant (thanks again for the very thoughtful gift…I’m still working on my Italian!), who all made us feel very much at home. We look forward to returning next summer!"

Hotel Grand Relais Dei Nuraghi

"What a place! Every single member of staff was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious (usual continental breakfast buffet, alongside several cooked options to order - omelettes were great). Room 230 was spacious, well appointed and spotless. Pool and bar area were relaxing, with a stunning view across the bay (yes, you can see Phi Beach Club but any sound from there is very faint). The walk into the resort is a ten minute stroll - maybe a bit longer in higher temps. The hotel’s private beach is nice (3 min walk), with loads of beds and some cabanas. We didn’t need to get up early to get one either. We ate there three evenings as the food was excellent. There is a great pianist in the bar most evenings - if you want a range of ‘entertainment’ and activities in the evening, you’ll need to go into the resort. Basically, it’s a stunning, relaxing place that’s rightly proud of what it is - so don’t expect karaoke, baked beans and The Red Lion pub."

"Disappointed... breakfast with packaged, industrialized products, few cheese options, breakfast like a 3-star hotel perhaps... insects in the rooms, ants and spiders, bees and flies... get used to it, you'll have to live with these little friends!!! Old facilities, URGENTLY in need of renovation!!! Friendly staff and beautiful views. In case of bad weather you won't have anything to do, because the hotel offers NO entertainment and no spa worthy of a 5-star hotel, only massages and a gym! Hotel that has stopped in time!!! If you want a vacation with a good breakfast and to enjoy the hotel, don't come!!!!"

Tenuta Pilastru Country Resort & Spa

"Beautiful hotel in amongst the rock formations that sculpt the landscape in this part of Sardinia. The builds are themed to look like Sardinian farm buildings, but behind this facade the rooms are spacious and well equipped, even the lowest priced classic room that we had. Cleanliness was also very good in the rooms, communal areas and even the gardens. Due to the remoteness and the nearest town being 7 minutes drive away, it was very peaceful at any time of the day with no noise whatsoever. We used the restaurant and enjoyed the busyness on the first night where we sat indoors near a local family having a birthday celebration. On the second night we sat outside on the decking set into the rock formation. Food was good value and tasty, very cheap house red wine or a good selection of bottled whites. The pool was cleaned daily and was a good temperature and generally very quiet with no problem getting a sun bed. We didn't use the spa so can't comment on that."

Hotel Pedra Santa

"The hotel is very old; there's no elevator to get directly to your room; you have to climb stairs. We got a room overlooking a rock, so you couldn't see outside and hardly any light came in. They don't provide beach towels, meaning if you're flying in, you'll have to bring your own. We were given the option to pay €5 a day per towel. The TV is very old; it's not a smart TV, so you can only watch Italian channels, and it's very small. The double bed is two small beds pushed together, and the mattresses are old and not very comfortable. The bathroom is terrible, with no design, and a horrible smell of plumbing. The pool is quite small for the number of guests; some days there weren't even any free sunbeds. The photo doesn't show it, but the pool is colorful. There were quite a few insects. The only good things were probably the views and the terrace. The dinner was quite delicious, but small and expensive."

Hotel Pulicinu

"It's not a 4 star, mind you. The relatively reasonable prices charged in low season remain expensive for the services offered. In high season, prices are excessive, overpriced and do not meet expectations. Hotel nestled in a magnificent hillside location. Calm and peaceful. The exteriors are simply sublime. But unfortunately that's about the only thing that could justify the four stars awarded to this hotel. The rooms are relatively spacious but lack storage space. The bathrooms have none and the shower is fixed to the wall, with significant variations in water (very strong flow, then very weak and so on). However, we had no problems with the temperature. Functional and silent air conditioning. The soundproofing of the rooms is simply non-existent. We hear the neighbors and people in the hallway as if nothing separates us. The wifi didn't work the first two days, then it was excellent. The breakfast is very basic and the products are industrial. Special mention to fruit juices so undrinkable that even wasps preferred coffee. The pillows are a pile of wadding balled up, they would be the same if there were none. No elevator and no one to carry your luggage. Out of four employees we saw, only one spoke French (but she was rarely there). Among these (a gentleman at night and three women during the day), one of them was neither very professional nor very friendly. We thought she was in training, as she was so inadequate for a position at the reception of a hotel, especially a “4” star hotel. The seats of the armchairs in the hall and on the terrace were torn. We asked for a coffee with milk at the bar. The milk served was curdled. One morning, at 11 a.m., one of the ladies in charge of cleaning came to knock on the door and without a response from us, took the liberty of opening the door, turning on the light to summon us, raising her voice, to get out of bed, because she had to clean it… And the best for last, the weekend wedding receptions… the guests were swarming from all sides, screaming, singing. They simply took over the place. The swimming pools were forbidden to us, reserved for wedding guests, and the restaurant closed. And the magic continued, with loud music, around the swimming pool, until 11:30 p.m.… Our room overlooked the swimming pool and the next day we had a plane to catch. We first asked at reception when the party would be over. 6 p.m. we were told. At 6:30 p.m., we ask the question again. At 8:30/9 p.m. “be calm, trust me.” And, when we returned at 10:15 p.m., the party was in full swing. We asked to speak with the director, Tiziana. She didn't want to come see us...first claiming that she had to get rid of"
