Yoshiike Ryokan ★★★★
"Stunning Historical Garden: The absolute highlight is their massive traditional Japanese garden. It feels like walking through a living postcard, with beautiful ponds, lush trees, and streaming water. To our surprise, we were greeted by fireflies at night while strolling after dinner. The natural hot spring water here is top-tier. We get almost 24-hour access to the relaxing indoor and outdoor baths (rotenburo). Soaking under the stars after a long day of exploring was pure bliss. Prime Location: It is incredibly convenient—just a flat, easy 7-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station. No need to haul heavy bags up steep hills. The service is warm, welcoming, and attentive. The rooms are beautifully kept, offering that authentic, peaceful ryokan vibe. Traditional Japanese Breakfast. Dinner is a multi-course, traditional Kaiseki feast served right in the restaurant, which beautifully overlooks the illuminated evening garden."
Hakone Yumoto Onsen Hakoneji Kaiun ★★★
"amazing stay! love the vibes and tranquility around the hotel. sleep to the sound of the river if you book the japanese style room. and amazing and clean onsen facilities too."
Setsugetsuka ★★★★
"Fantastic location next to Gora Station with easy access to Gotemba premium outlets via bus& Cablecar to Lake Ashi. Kaiseki breakfast and dinners were thoughtfully planned and different each meal. So many free snacks and food at different timings. Private outdoor onsen was wonderful as well. Note: you have to queue for any of the 3 huts. Only thing we didn’t like was having to shower outdoors and the dated toto bidet. Other than that, perfect 2 night stay at Hakone."
Ajisai Onsen Ryokan - Award Winning Private Open Air Onsen ★★★
"What’s terrific stay we had at Ajisay. This place gives you that authentic ryokan stay experience with an onsen. Allowed 3 times per day in one of their 3 private onsen, some outside, inside or a mix of both. The included breakfast is amazing (Western or Japanese) with espresso, cappuccinos or americanos all included. It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood. If the weather is nice and without suitcase, it’s an easy walk to Gora station. Going back is a little uphill, but that’s the nature of being in a mountain. I’d highly recommend a stay here. An experience to remember."
Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori ★★★★
"Stunning hotel. Bar the necessary evil of automated check-in, the hotel was warm and welcoming. Excellent views, great location to access hakone and we wished we had booked multiple night. Delicious mixed buffer dinner. View from our room attached. Wonderful onsen experience. Would recommend."
Mount View Hakone ★★★
"This hotel offers a luxurious Japanese-style stay with a dinner and breakfast plan. Both meals are high-quality Japanese cuisine, and you can also reserve a private onsen (hot spring). If you're visiting Hakone for a two-day, one-night trip, I highly recommend staying here. On your second day, you can take a bus directly to Togendai to catch the pirate ship and the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani."
Hakone Yutowa ★★★★
"Excellent range of buffet items for dinner and breakfast although variety does not change too much from day to day. The outdoor foot spa and warm fireplace were a delight on a cold wintry day. Rooms were spacious and comfortable."
Hotel Marroad Hakone ★★★
"I arrived a bit late but checked in successfully. Hakone luggage delivery service is available."
Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan ★★★★
"This hotel has a very traditional Japanese style. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with luggage. Just be sure to communicate with the hotel in advance about your meals, as there aren't many dining options nearby."

"The hot spring was very comfortable, and the environment was excellent."
Hotel Indigo HAKONE GORA by IHG
"Really beautiful hotel, amazing staff. Room was amazing with great amenities, bit of a pig to get to from Gora station though, make sure to arrange their free shuttle service to avoid lugging your suitcase down a million stairs like I did. All on all a great stay though, highly recommend"
Gora Hanaougi
"The worst hot spring hotel I've ever stayed in Japan!!! And it's the most expensive. It should be the worst hotel recommended by Tirp. What kind of collusion is there? The equipment and facilities are old and aging, the room is filled with a strong pungent musty smell, which makes people cough violently and difficult to fall asleep. No one answered the hotel contact number marked on Tirp! It is also very inconvenient to get to the hotel. There is no courtesy at all when picking up and dropping off guests, and the attitude is completely indifferent. It is a world of difference from the hotel I stayed in the day before. Except for the food that is still online, I will give this hotel the title of the worst. In short, the hotel that Tirp strongly recommends on the App is extremely unfriendly and bad behavior."
Hakone Kowakien Hotel
"Wonderful, both breakfast and dinner are Buffet, and the water park is feel and nice for adults or kids"
Onsen Guesthouse Tsutaya
"The location is a bit remote. If you take the tram, you need to walk quite far. It is close to the bus station. There is a small safe at the head of the bed. The bed is a wooden capsule with a wood smell. The public area is good. There is a self-service kitchen with complete tableware and many small appliances. You can make your own coffee, tea and other beverages. There is a public large refrigerator and a small open-air hot spring. The overall cost performance is high"
Yunosato Sugina
"The latest check-in time for us was 8 o'clock. I arrived at the hotel first, but the staff was very nice and even left a lower package for dinner than us. The Japanese food was so exquisite and tasted so good. It was the first time for the children to have such a dinner. They were so happy. But there is no bathroom in the room, which is not so convenient. I have to go to the hot spring bath to take a shower, but it closes at 12 o'clock at night. The hot springs are just so-so, one indoors and one outdoor, both very small, but the hotel is not big, so there are not many people there. In addition, the hotel staff’s English is difficult to communicate with, but they are all very polite."
Yugawara Chiyodasou
"Now everything is efficient, and it is difficult to judge whether the service is good or bad. I had a self drink and I didn't have any trouble, so I wonder if the service is good? Since there is only one open-air bath, it is difficult to go without waiting for the replacement time. The hot spring was good."
Hakonenomori Okada
"How do I put it? This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. Pros: The triple room with breakfast and dinner (dinner menus didn't repeat over two nights) was a third cheaper than other places. The hot springs were also good, with four outdoor pools. Cons: The location is inconvenient, right at the highest point in the Hakone-Yumoto area. The shuttle bus runs late in the morning and early in the evening, which doesn't really match most people's itineraries. Taking a taxi is probably the most sensible option, at 900 yen one way, plus a 400 yen surcharge for calling one. Of course, walking down the hill from the hotel to the station without luggage isn't too strenuous, taking about 20 minutes. As for facilities, there's no complimentary bottled water in the room, and no washing machine. And the service... after dinner, a waiter accidentally spilled a bowl of soup all over my pants while clearing the table. They handed me a dry towel, and that was pretty much it. No further apologies or assistance."
Gora Kansuiro
"Amazing stay! Great service, cozy traditional Japanese ryokan interiors, spacious rooms, beautiful garden you can walk through, amazing onsen, sacramental presentation of several courses of delicious Japanese dishes. Stuff was very pleasant and helped us a lot with all requests. Location is great - very close to Gora station, and 40-50 min from Gotemba outlet (highly recommended to visit too) Our stay at Gora Kansuiro was quite a pleasure and exceeded our expectations, we are definitely recommend to stay here!"
Gran Terrace le Lien Hakone
"Small accommodation. Staff command of English is weak . The onsen setting is great . Private onsen. 45 min per usage . Unlimited usage ."
Guesthouse Fukuura
"This is a wonderful place for a quiet, relaxing getaway. It's very clean and cozy, just like home. All the photos are accurate."
Hakone Kowakien Miyama-furin
"Best place to stay if you want to go to Hakone loop. It is only 4 mins walk to Yunnesun."
The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko
"One of the places in the world that you come in and you don’t want to leave. The serene place and the tranquil lake and surroundings made me want to stay forever."
Diamond Hakone Society
"Nice hotel in a beautiful forest and lovely onsen with a spirit of history."
Yugawara Mizunokaori
"I stayed here on 5/5 during Golden Week using the 50+ plan. The room was clean and a bit old-fashioned, but the rotating towel rack in the toilet was quite unusual. The bath also seems to have been renovated, and although it was a bit small, it was clean. The water was clear and colorless, but it also felt moisturizing, and I personally liked how the temperature of the water was just right for warming up."
