"We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room. This is not overwater, but just on the side of the land with a porch that extends over the water. I specifically chose this property and room as we needed space for two parents and two teenagers. The cabin has two bedrooms (one queen and one with two twins). The lower level has the bathroom (small but fine) and a small living room/kitchen area. There is no AC on the lower level, but that was ok. You can easily get a water taxi to Bocas town for $1/person day $2/person night. The breakfast is cooked to order, which was good. The owner was accommodating for our minor requests. There is a lot of noise from the water taxis and from Aqua nightclub. Keep in mind that Carenero has *a lot* of tiny sand flies and we all got bitten up (even with using bug spray). So bringing insecticide is a must."

"This was our second stay at Casa Acuario. What makes this stay magical for us is the beautiful setting. During our most recent stay, we were on the second floor. Having higher views of the bay, views out towards Bocas town, and looking towards the mainland was very nice. We enjoyed the afternoon sunset and, this time, a full moon in the evening. Mandy and JP have decorated the rooms with a nice homey flair, which is very relaxing. Being able to enjoy the cool breeze while chilling out in the hammock was a nice change. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, from the soaps in the room and fresh water to the nicely sized bathrooms and showers with hot water. To me, it feels like home when staying there. Breakfast in the morning is amazing and filling, plus it draws locals in to mingle with. We even met our dive master at breakfast. You will not be disappointed while staying at this amazing establishment."

"This was a huge disappointment. We booked 3 nights but didn't stay at all...The bathroom was moldy. No drain cover in the shower. My wife said she got a shock when she touched the shower tap with wet hands. There are boats screaming past 5 meters from the building every minute. I explained that my wife did not want to stay more than 1 night to the owner and my wife explained to the receptionist. The owner called his receptionist on a mobile phone losing his mind. Maybe not realising he is on speaker. He made a comment that people who don't speak Spanish should not come to Panama. I live in Costa Rica and my wife is Spanish speaking so she clearly understood the owners derogatory remarks. At this point we no longer wanted to stay even the one night. I cancelled on bookings.com at the request of the receptionist and it said no charge but the hotel refused to refund the payment we made for one night. The receptionist told me wife that the owner installed cameras in the rooms? The staff were nice but seemed to fear the owner. Who knows but glad to escape. Let's see what bookings.com does about it. After this experience I read some of the owners replies to negative reviews. It's the exact same negative attitude we received. This owner is not interested in what his guests have to say. The only revenue this place can generate is from tourists so treat people with respect"

"Casa Acuario is hands-down the best place my spouse and I have ever stayed. We spent a week enjoying its magic, half our time in a sea-level room and the other half upstairs. From start to finish, it was perfect. The rooms have been beautifully renovated by the owners, who’ve clearly put a lot of care into every detail. Each space is very comfortable, with thoughtful touches like eye masks, ear plugs, and white noise machines that helped a light sleeper, like me, sleep soundly. The rooms also have good A/C, fast WiFi, smart TVs, and more tech than you'll probably need because, let’s be honest, the real luxury is outside. The sea-level rooms literally let you step straight from your room into the ocean. The setting on Isla Carenero is ideal: laid back but just a quick water taxi ride away from Bocas Town. The views of Bocas Town and the sunsets from the sundeck never get old. The hosts and all the staff were welcoming, incredibly friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Their recommendations for food, activities, and local experiences were spot-on every time. Breakfast each morning on the cozy patio was such a treat. The food was fresh and delicious. We also made good use of the complimentary paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel gear. If you’re considering a stay at Casa Acuario—go. We’re already dreaming about our next visit."
