Cheap Hotels in Duisburg

"The 2 lamps on top of the bed didn't work. One of them was holding thanks to black tape and fell down when I touched it. The bathroom smelled like sewage. Breakfast was good but not worth the price"

"Very conveniently situated next to the train station and the main street. Rooms are clean and practical, breakfast is pretty good. We stayed with our 2 year old, which came for free. We had to bring our own travel cot but the room was specious enough to put the cot."

"Mercure Duisburg is quite a good hotel. Especially for the price we paid for 4 people. The sleeper couch was comfortable for the kids and the bed for us was nice. We also really enjoyed the breakfast (although we missed the bacon…). The swimming pool was actually nice. The kids enjoyed it a lot. The location is absolutely perfect. The main shopping street is behind the hotel on a couple of minutes walking distance. We enjoyed the Christmas market and the kids had KFC. There are nice shops as well. Parking was very reasonable. 12 euros for 24 hours.  Some constructive feedback: - the pillows are surprisingly flat. They didn’t have extra pillows left, other guests also asked for them. Might be good to change the pillows. Pillows are not that expensive nowadays, so Accor, please upgrade there.  - there is only 1 lift. That was quite uncomfortable because the staff also uses the lift, especially also housekeeping with the carts. So sometimes it’s either you wait or you take the stairs.  - the carpet could be changed. It’s clean, but looks old and worn out. They put up a funny poster, so that makes it a little better. But still, hopefully for the next renovation, please take that up as well.  - the TV mainly had German channels. The news channels were also in English. The smart tv’s unfortunately didn’t have apps on like Netflix or Prime, etc. so I could log in with my own account. Neither was there a way to screen mirror my phone. So when the kids were sleeping I ended up watching a movie on my phone… Some minor things, but we do recommend the hotel. If you have a bigger budget, you can find a more luxurious hotel I’m sure. We would come back again."

"The location is good, in a residential area, very quiet. Not far from Düsseldorf, it takes five minutes to drive to the highway, and there is free parking, which is much cheaper than staying in a hotel in Düsseldorf. Next to it is the supermarket Netto, which is very convenient for shopping. We are two adults and one child, and we added a one-meter small bed to the double room we booked, without any additional charge. The bathroom is relatively large, the room is clean and tidy, and three sets of towels are provided for three people, which is very considerate. The room rate includes three breakfasts, which is very cost-effective."

However, I was disappointed with the bed setup. I booked a double bed, but it turned out to be two singles pushed together. This made it uncomfortable, and I even rolled over and fell out during the night. I hope the hotel can address this issue, as it affected the overall comfort of my stay.
