"A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City."

"I just moved into this hotel on 10 July 2025. The looks of the hotel was spacious. The crew and manager was friendly too. I had difficulty in booking some itenary that was in Beijing as it needed their number and they were friendly in assisting my request. The room when I entered was as I expected spacious and nicely designed, and the scenery was good. I like the tea set that was on the table set upon the tatami mat. It feel comfortable and I just seat there and brew myself some tea enjoying the window scenery. The breakfast was nice and tasty. Glad that I have chosen here. Will stay there again if I come to Datong."

"Just realized I forgot to leave a review, so I'm specially coming back to write one! My sister and I stayed here for two days in Datong after attending a wedding in Taiyuan. The courtyard is lovely, and it was so comfortable just relaxing there. They also provide complimentary bicycles, which we used to cycle to attractions like Yanhuasi, Shanhuasi, and the Nine-Dragon Wall, and to explore local eateries nearby. The service was exceptional. Our initial room unfortunately still had a slight renovation smell, even six months after the work was done, so they promptly moved us to a family suite. The front desk staff were very apologetic and even offered us a discount. Later, when I came down with a stomach bug, the owner personally brewed Puer tea for me, chatted, and genuinely checked in on my well-being. We later learned the guesthouse is run by the owner and their friends, which truly explains its wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere."

"We booked 4 rooms this time, with 7 people in our group + 1 child. The rooms are very clean and each has its own character and name. There are tatami beds and double beds. A large tatami bed is specially arranged for children, so they can sleep peacefully 😁. The room is fully equipped with various disposable toiletries and an instant water kettle. I especially like the service 👍🏻. The breakfast variety is much richer than we imagined, including eggs, corn, pumpkin, sweet potato, millet porridge, minced meat noodles, small cold dishes, fruits, and they even made cakes for the children. On the first day we arrived at the B&B, the staff came to meet us and help with our luggage. It was raining, and they reminded us that there were umbrellas available at the door. I also boiled some hot water to drink. There is a big solid wooden table in the lobby on the first floor, with fruits and snacks on it. The children were very happy 😄. The inside and outside of the door are carefully decorated with green plants and hydrangeas, which is very comfortable. The geographical location is perfect for our travel, close to the main road, with parking spaces available. When we don't want to drive, we can take a taxi or stroll into the ancient city for shopping and eating. As soon as I went out, I saw the city wall. I went to see the night view on my last night! This time everyone praised the convenient location."

"Located in the ancient city of Datong, this is a treasure homestay. Whether it is the handsome guy who helped us park, the beautiful girl who received us, or the elegant lady who cooked food, or other staff, they all have admirable work passion and super high professionalism. The young and excellent management team, the face-to-face high-quality service attitude and content have reached the extreme, and can be used as a model of homestay. It has its own exclusive underground parking lot that can directly reach the hotel. The courtyard rooms are elegantly designed, the bedding and towels are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is rich and colorful, the knife-cut noodles are authentic and delicious, and the afternoon tea, fruit snacks, milk and yogurt are delivered to the room at any time. It is only a ten-minute walk from the famous Fenglinge Restaurant. ”Fengqi Courtyard” makes accommodation a kind of enjoyment. I sincerely wish them more and more brilliant."

"For anyone visiting Datong, I wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse! It was the perfect first stop on my Shanxi trip, and the experience was superb. It truly operates at a high hotel standard; the attention to detail in the rooms was exceptional, even providing mouthwash and laundry detergent. Overall, from its prime location and beautiful interior to the impeccable service from the front desk ladies, everything was faultless. It's clear the owner runs this place with immense dedication and care. Both the exterior and room decor are incredibly stylish. The front desk staff and even the cleaning team were all incredibly friendly and helpful. From the airport pickup upon arrival to their help with luggage near the guesthouse, every detail was so thoughtful. During my stay, the front desk ladies were wonderfully accommodating, often assisting with packages and food deliveries. At checkout, I even received a lovely local Shanxi vinegar as a souvenir. In short, I highly recommend it. Should I return to Datong, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."

"The B&B is located near Taiping Tower. The parking lot is at the entrance of the alley. It is very convenient. The Japanese style is very surprising. The small courtyard also has a landscape of dry landscape. It is very stylish. The facilities are quite exquisite. The big bed room is very comfortable and there is incense on the bedside. Camphor wood, fragrant, helps sleep. You can see the owner's intentions from details such as smart toilets and toiletries. "When traveling around the world, most people choose Holiday Inn, and this time I did not disappoint with the Datong branch. Even though it was a little pricey during the short holiday, the price/performance ratio was still acceptable. Facilities: The hotel was newly opened in 2024, with large rooms and new facilities. It has a projection screen, a food delivery robot, and a shower, toilet and sink that are separated. Because the room is large enough, it does not seem cramped. Hygiene: The bedding, towels, etc. are all brand new and cleaned every day. Environment: It takes about ten minutes by taxi from Datong South Station. The location is good and it is easy to call a taxi during short holidays. Service: Service is the highlight of the hotel. Before check-in, a staff member will call to confirm the information and provide butler service, handling various issues throughout the process. The staff in check-in, dining, cleaning, etc. are very serious and responsible, and the experience is very good. Disadvantages: There are not many choices of dishes in the Chinese restaurant, and there is no dining in, only private rooms and delivery; there is no decoration smell in the room but there is a little smell in the toilet, but the room can be ventilated by opening the window."
