Club Med Changbaishan

My first time staying at Club Med, and from the moment I entered, the G.O.s gave such a warm welcome. The GM was very professional and always enthusiastic and energetic. Sky, the restaurant manager, was a true gentleman, and Lyra at the front desk was so helpful, reminding me about activity start times. My fellow countryman Young was also very welcoming, and the housekeeping department was always prompt with cleaning. Overall, I'm very satisfied! I'd love to come back again if I have the chance~~

I booked one hot spring room and one balcony room; this review is for the balcony room. Crystal at the front desk contacted me via WeChat beforehand to ask about my room preferences and helped combine the twin beds into a king-size bed. The hotel is very new, and both the soft and hard furnishings are excellent. All three daily meals, especially dinner, were abundant, with different specialty dishes every day, all tasting great. This allowed me to try various Northeastern Chinese dishes. Sometimes we arrived late at the restaurant, even after they had closed up, but none of the staff were impatient with us. They even asked if we needed anything and patiently waited for us to finish our meal; the service was truly superb. We arrived at the resort around 4 PM on our check-in day, and it was already dark as it gets dark early here. A front desk staff member explained the resort facilities to us, but we were quite confused. Later, the Front Office Manager, Young, saw how lost we were and helped clarify the information. Based on her advice, we dropped off our luggage and went to the ski equipment hall to rent gear. However, when we found the place, two staff members had already left, even though it was still 20 minutes before the closing time mentioned by the front desk. The next day, we realized we had gone to the wrong ski hall – the public one, not Club Med's own ski hall – which resulted in us not being able to rent equipment and missing out on skiing the next day. I'd suggest that staff emphasize this information to prevent guests from going to the wrong place. Also, since there weren't many guests on our arrival day, they could have easily escorted us there. Another point is that when I contacted the front desk asking what ski gear to prepare, they mentioned 'little turtle' protective gear, so I specifically bought five sets. However, the ski instructor later said that these aren't needed for dual-board skiing, only for snowboarding. I don't blame the front desk for this, as they might not have skiing experience, but I suggest sharing this information with future guests so they don't waste time and money renting or buying unnecessary gear. Aside from these two issues, the resort is truly excellent, as detailed in my other review for the hot spring room. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

We had a fantastic 3-day, 2-night stay at Club Med! **Let's talk about the food first.** It was incredibly varied, with different specialties each day. On the first day, we enjoyed a Southeast Asian food festival featuring Laksa and Tom Yum soup. The chef's recommendation for dinner was 'sea cucumber and millet porridge'. On the second night, we booked a hot pot dinner (you need to book at the main restaurant entrance by 12 PM for dinner), and it was excellent. The chef's recommended 'Guo Bao Rou' (sweet and sour pork) was, I believe, the most authentic I've ever tasted! Breakfast options also changed daily, with kids able to choose pancakes or waffles. Make sure to try the Changbai Mountain special drink or flower tea at the bar. **Now, for the activities.** The indoor activity areas are mainly on the 3rd and 4th floors, and the hot springs are conveniently located on the 1st floor, making it easy to hop from one activity to the next! (Note: mountain biking and scootering require booking on the mini-program the day before.) We started our morning at 9 AM with a scooter lesson (beginner level) with Coach Chen, who was handsome and very patient. Afterward, we went to the 4th floor for a stretching class with Coach Yang John, which was wonderfully relaxing. Then, we headed to the 3rd floor for another fitness class with Coach Yang. The atmosphere was great with both adults and kids participating. So, we had three activities packed into the morning – very fulfilling! After lunch, we sang karaoke and played table tennis, then headed to the 1st-floor hot springs. Dinner was hot pot at 6 PM, followed by a fun trivia quiz on the 3rd floor at 7:30 PM, and a live performance by the entertainers at 8:30 PM, also on the 3rd floor. It was a joyful and well-spent day! Outside the hotel, there's an activity center, which was a paradise for my younger child. He went there for two consecutive days and absolutely loved the 'Brave Challenge Course,' playing it three times! The hotel provides electric shuttle buses to the activity center every 20 minutes, which is quite convenient. **Finally, my overall impression.** Club Med's quality is consistently excellent! What impressed me most this time was the staff's enthusiasm. We were lucky enough to catch their newly rehearsed show, which featured a variety of dances including Korean, Mongolian, Dai, and Jazz. The village chief even performed ballet, bringing a sense of beauty to everyone. A big shout-out to all the staff! I'd also like to give a special thank you to Winnie, who helped us plan our itinerary in advance, making our trip even smoother and more enriching. Changbai Mountain not only offers stunning scenery but also the warm hospitality of the Northeast. I hope to visit again!

This was my first stay at Club Med and my second at a Luneng brand hotel (previously stayed at Luneng Hilton to watch a rocket launch). After this experience, I personally feel there's significant room for improvement in the management team's capabilities, for the following reasons: **Booking:** I registered two people as per the booking requirements, then received a call from the hotel to further confirm the number of guests. This was a very poor experience and lowered my expectations. **Check-in:** A thousand words could be omitted about the initial communication, which sufficiently highlighted the lack of human touch, flexibility, and service awareness in the management. I can understand marking the departure date on the check-in card for environmental reasons, but changing my husband's gender is simply incomprehensible... **Dining:** From the variety and ingredients, it's clear the hotel management is strictly controlling costs. Despite these stringent conditions, the restaurant staff still managed to produce tasty and clearly thoughtful meals, which is not easy. **Room:** The soft and hard furnishings, contrary to the hotel's strict management, revealed sloppiness everywhere: a broken safety lock, a vanity without space to place toiletries, an extra-thick '10-pound' duvet used only during skiing season (and when asked, no thinner blankets were available), a mini-bar of business hotel standard, and mismatched bed sheets 😂😂😂. **Hygiene:** Upon arriving at the parking lot, I immediately saw two beverage bottles. Miraculously, they were still there when I checked out. As one of the first guests to visit the outdoor hot spring in the afternoon, I found at least 3-4 cigarette butts next to the large pool. I wonder how the hotel's 'strict management' could overlook such a significant detail. Despite the above, what truly deserves commendation is the enthusiasm of all the service staff. Their attitude and passion greatly compensated for the various prominent management issues. If management scored -10 points, the service staff would score 13 points. Management should be grateful for the dedication of all service personnel! If I choose to stay at Changbai Mountain Club Med again in the future, it will be because of these enthusiastic employees, such as JANLY, JACKSON, the Indonesian guy (sorry, I forgot your name), the stretching and hot dance instructors, the sweet-dimpled waitress in the restaurant, and the housekeeping ladies. Our stay at Club Med Changbaishan completely exceeded expectations. The hotel organized numerous activities daily, even during the off-season with fewer guests. Sometimes, we were the only ones participating, like hiking and yoga, and the hotel coaches were incredibly enthusiastic, guiding just our family. The all-inclusive dining was also fantastic; the food quality and presentation were very appetizing. Every day featured Western cuisine and local Changbaishan specialties, along with a wide variety of fruits. The hotel staff warmly accompanied guests during meals, chatting and recommending local attractions. The hot springs were also a highlight, accessible directly from the lobby, with both indoor and outdoor pools, offering the unique experience of soaking amidst a vast forest. We're especially grateful to the 'Village Chief' for the thoughtful gift, Jackson from the restaurant for his warm service every day, and Xiao Li from the finance department for personally showing us around the adjacent log cabin village. There's so much more to say about this wonderful holiday experience. Staying at Club Med this time was truly delightful!

The room was spacious and spotless, with fresh air. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, with different main courses every day, including specialties like ox tongue and foie gras. The bartender recommended several signature cocktails, all of which were absolutely delicious!
