Yunoshimakan ★★★★
"This might be the highest hot spring hotel in Gero. If you miss the shuttle, it's quite a walk uphill. The hotel is divided into the old wing and the new wing. The old wing has a lot of mosquitoes and poor soundproofing, while the new wing, though newer, lacks some of the old wing's charm. We stayed in the new wing with a private hot spring, but it was extremely small; the photos on Trip.com can be misleading."
Bosenkan ★★★★
"Rooms are old. Dinner and breakfast is fair, the whole hotel maintained by foreigners from south east asia. The lobby will close on 10pm, and they will force you to go back to your room."
Suimeikan ★★★★
"Right outside the JR station, we saw staff holding signs, and even though the hotel is very close to the station, the pickup service was a nice bonus. The hotel environment is great, and the service is excellent. The hot spring water was incredibly smooth, making for a very comfortable soak. I tried all three different onsen baths, and it felt wonderful."
Toraya Inn ★★★
"This was my second stay, and the experience was just as great. The room was clean and comfortable. They have staff who speak Chinese, and they were very attentive, recommending nearby hot springs and restaurants. The owner also speaks a little Chinese. The simple breakfast was fantastic, and the hot soup was delicious! You can leave your luggage at the 1F lobby during check-in or check-out, and they can also arrange a taxi for you. Highly recommended!"
Hotel de Marronnier Gero Onsen ★★★
"The hotel is located on a hillside on the edge of Gero City, offering panoramic views of the entire city. It's a bit of a distance from Gero Station, so driving is recommended, but the hotel also provides a shuttle bus."
Gerobal Hostel ★★
"Not bad"
Gero Onsen Yamagataya ★★★★
"Service is excellent. Friendly staffs. The room is clean and comfortable. We are enjoying the hot spring there."
Mutsumikan ★★★
"Overall a very relaxing Onsen experience. The ryokan is located very close to the train station, literally next to it. We were happy with the quality of the hot spring water. The room was cozy and comfortable. It made us feel like staying at a traditional Japanese home. Both the kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were excellent. All of the hotel staff were polite and welcoming. We truly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to other travelers."
Hotel Kusakabe Armeria ★★★★
"Huge room, comfortable beddings, nice settings & decoration. 2 mins hotel bus transfer to Gero station, easy access. Yet after arriving hotel, not much choice for entertainment & food."

Ogawaya
"Their staff is very friendly and helpful"
Miyako
"The room is exactly the same as in the photo. The room I booked has an open-air private bath. The water quality of the private bath in the room is the same as that in the hotel, but the temperature is different and relatively lower. Because the time to reserve the rented hot spring is too late, I gave up directly. The room is relatively large, so the air conditioning is not particularly hot, but the Japanese tatami bedding is very warm and very comfortable to sleep. Service: Very good, Japanese service, the luggage is helped by grandfathers or female waiters, which makes me a little embarrassed. Environment: The atmosphere of the hotel decoration is first-class, the courtyard is deep, ancient and quiet. There are skin care products in the room, and pola is good. Great! I chose Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast, the set meal of Hida beef, with sashimi, barbecue and shabu-shabu, haha, not bad."
Kawakamiya Kasuitei
"The room is very satisfactory. It is very Japanese style. The housekeepers are like family. They are very friendly. The hotel has private baths, open-air baths and large baths. Since the hotel is very private, you will hardly see other people even in the large bath. It is very comfortable. The breakfast provided is also very rich and very nice."
Koyoi Tenku Ni Asobu Shogetsu
"The view was amazing, and the hospitality was fantastic. The panoramic view of the mountains and the Hida River from the high ground from the windows was truly amazing. My husband, who loves trains, was very impressed to be able to watch the trains passing over the iron bridge. It was a surprise for him as he had no idea about it. The hallway to the private dining room was also an exciting, wonderful space that gave us a taste of the extraordinary, and we were also impressed by the hospitality of the waitresses. Each dish of food was carefully prepared and delicious, and healthy for our bodies. We would definitely recommend this inn to others."
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Gero Honkan(Old:Yukai Resort Premium Gero Saichoraku Honkan)
"The front desk staff are all young people who can communicate smoothly in English. The restaurant staff are very enthusiastic and the food is good. Simple is also good."
Gero Onsen Gero Royal Hotel Miyabitei
"I feel the value isn't high. The price doesn't match the amenities. 😂 Plus, the hotel said they can't see the children's age, so they don't offer children's meals. 🥲🥲 I don't understand why the trip requires us to specify the child's age."
Sasara
"Stayed there for two nights. In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20). I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no."
Gero Springs Hotel
"Suitable for driver due to a little bit from town. The room quite big and fully facilities. Worth for price."
Gero Onsen Yukyunohana
"The hotel service is very good, and there will be someone to greet you at the door when you arrive. It was a bit surprising that the receptionist could understand a little Cantonese. The hotel includes breakfast and dinner, which are very rich, with a wide variety of food and very filling. It is recommended to choose a package that provides breakfast and dinner. The indoor open-air hot spring facilities are a bit old, and the room is large enough to accommodate 6 people."
Gero Onsen Fugaku
"The room facilities are old, the doors and windows cannot block the wind from outside, the room feels very cold, the noise from the road is also very obvious, and the air conditioning equipment is also very noisy"
Yuasobi No Yado Gero Kanko Hotel Honkan
"The hotel room was different from expectations and had to pay to stay in a room with a hot spring, but Trip.com kindly gave me a refund and additional fund to compensate my time. This is excellent service."
Hotel Miki
"The hotel front desk staff couldn't communicate in English. Unlike some tourist hotels that primarily employ foreign workers, this hotel mainly has Japanese staff, many of whom are from neighboring Japanese cities. Local residents can enjoy the hot springs for less than 1000 yen. I arrived quite late, and thankfully, Trip.com arranged a pick-up service. It was 8 PM at Hida-Hagiwara Station, completely deserted, when I saw the hotel's dedicated car – I was so touched! I can't imagine what I would have done without it. It was snowy and freezing, and we had missed dinner. We asked the driver if he could stop at a convenience store along the way so we could buy some food, and he readily agreed. A big thank you to this hotel employee! My only complaints are: 1. The food quality was just average, and it was pretty much the same for several days, which was a bit... but if you don't book meals, the surrounding area is quite desolate with no restaurants or convenience stores. 2. It's an old hotel with no elevator, so carrying large luggage was a bit of a struggle!"
