Suimeikan ★★★★
"We went to Gero for 2nd time and we like it so much. Hotel is clean, nice, and has an indoor and outdoor onsen :) Staffs were nice. We will go back there again : )"
Bosenkan ★★★★
"Everything was excellent, even though the facility is quite old, cleanliness is well maintained. The staff are helpful and well mannered. The Japanese style food is healthy and delicious . Most of all the onsen is excellent, makes your skin silky and gentle ."
Geroonsen kisoya Kisoya ★★
"Although the hotel isn't expensive, they offer a pick-up and drop-off service from Gero Station. The hotel is located across the river, next to a supermarket, which is quite convenient. The rooms are very clean and spacious, and you can even ask the hotel to pre-order meals for you, so the service is excellent."
Yunoshimakan ★★★★
"This place is fantastic! You can spend half a day just exploring the premises, and do not miss the outdoor onsens!"
Gensennoyado Yumotokan ★★★
"Hygiene: There was a big bug on the wall at night. The staff came to spray it with spray but it didn't get rid of it. In the end, the bug was picked up and fell on his mask. There is nothing more terrifying than this. Service: They said there was a pick-up service, but when we went to the station the next day, they said there were not enough staff and they would not send us. I asked if we could wait a while? We were not in a hurry, and the old lady said that no one would send us. . Facilities: The food was like bought in the supermarket and then served on a plate, wrapped in plastic film. But it's cheap, and this store seems to be full of elderly people working"
Gero Onsen Yamagataya ★★★★
"Visited one of Japan's top three hot spring towns and booked a traditional Japanese-style room at a century-old hotel, which included two meals. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the train station, which was incredibly convenient. Check-in was a breeze thanks to the friendly staff at the front desk who spoke Chinese. The room was exceptionally spacious with stunning views from the window – perfect for two people. The hot springs themselves, both indoor and outdoor, were wonderful. Gero Onsen truly lived up to its reputation; my skin felt incredibly smooth after a soak. Free cold drinks were available post-soak, and the milk from the vending machine was particularly delicious! The meals provided by the hotel were also plentiful and tasty. The entire hotel had a very authentic Japanese ambiance. Although we only stayed for one night, we're already looking forward to a longer visit in the future! Highly recommended to everyone."
Ogawaya ★★★★
"Spacious room, especially love the private hot bath in the balcony. The public onsen are very nice as well, with both indoor and outdoor area. Dinner was well served, with fresh ingredients."
Mutsumikan ★★★
"The service was excellent, however, the hotel breakfast was quite mediocre. The price is reasonable for Gero, and it's conveniently located very close to the JR station. Overall, it's an excellent value-for-money option, and the open-air bath was also very pleasant."
Gerobal Hostel ★★
"There is a parking lot, but it was very difficult to park."

Hida Kanayama Nukumori no Sato Onsen
"The hotel doesn't have many rooms, but the hot springs are very comfortable. There's a restaurant on site with delicious food, and the surrounding environment is beautiful, right next to a stream. The staff are also very attentive in explaining the hotel information. I recommend staying here."
Breezbay Hotel & Resort Gero
"I stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days, and honestly, it's a difficult hotel to evaluate. Most of the staff are foreigners, but their customer service was good and I liked them. From the moment we arrived, we had all-you-can-drink draft beer and highballs (although in paper cups), and at dinner, we had all-you-can-drink various types of alcohol. Normally, drinks are expensive at hotels and inns (especially alcoholic drinks are abnormally expensive), so we didn't have to worry about that and could drink as much as we wanted within the time, which was very good. As for the food, dinner was a Hida beef main course + buffet, but the amount of Hida beef in each course was very small, and there was no refill of Hida beef in sukiyaki or shabu-shabu, and we had to take pork from the all-you-can-eat buffet and use that instead. The buffet seemed a little small in number of items for both dinner and breakfast. The taste was average. Well, I guess that's about right considering the price... However, what I found very unacceptable was that I had made a reservation for a pick-up from Gero Station in advance by phone, and the hotel said, "We will pick you up on the day according to your arrival time," so I told them my arrival time at Gero Station on the day. However, when I arrived at Gero Station, no matter how much I looked around, I couldn't find anyone who looked like a pick-up person, so I called the hotel and they just said, "Please come by taxi." I had no choice but to go to the taxi stand, and there were a lot of people waiting for taxis, so we ended up waiting in the cold for nearly 30 minutes before we could get in a taxi. I thought they should have told me to take a taxi from the beginning, since I had contacted them and made a reservation in advance to avoid this on the day. You can use the private open-air bath for free for another 30 minutes, but this was the worst. When I went to the bath, the bathtub still had a big lid on (it's probably to keep the temperature up, but an employee should have removed it before a guest gets in), so I couldn't get in, so I had to remove the two heavy lids myself as a guest, but the bathtub was made of plastic (which is fine, but it's also incredibly messy), and when I got in, the foothold inside the bathtub was slanted, so I almost slipped and fell. The inside was uneven and very dangerous, and I had no idea what the purpose of the bathtub was. When I got out, I had to lift the heavy lid myself and close it again. I've been to many hot springs before, but it was the first time in my life that I was so shocked by how dangerous a private bath was. Also, I stayed for multiple nights, but on both days I was with a group of bus tour guests, so although it couldn't be helped, I felt a bit uncomfortable. ...As such, there was such a big difference between the good and bad points that it's hard to know how to evaluate the stay overall, but this was a hot spring trip that I was looking forward to as a once-a-year luxury, and I came with the expectation of having fun and relaxing, so with that in mind, the bad points left a bigger impression on me, and I feel like I made a mistake in choosing the accommodation this time... I don't think I'll use it again in the future."
Ryokan Hyokin
"This is a ryokan where you can really feel the retro sensibility of the Showa era! It may be a little inconvenient because it is an old facility, but the owner and staff were all really kind, and both dinner and breakfast were very sincere and delicious meals!^^ It is not big, but it is also advantageous that you can enjoy a 24-hour hot spring bath! It was also really nice to walk around the hot spring village nearby! I had a hard time because there was little information, but I made a good choice! I highly recommend it to those who want to experience a real Japanese ryokan rather than a sophisticated one!"
Fukiya
"The location of the hotel is unbeatable, next to Gero Station, just across the bridge. The hotel belongs to the family-run more traditional not very use computers. In the middle of a small episode, is to pay me again the accommodation fee, I encountered this situation for the first time a little overwhelmed, fortunately have your staff to help follow up, the incident was quickly handled. In addition, their hot spring actually looks like a bathroom, which is shared on the full floor, but only one person can be used at a time, someone is using it and has to wait. The front desk is not available 24 hours a day, and you do check their working hours"
Sasara
"Nice service! And the dinner is good. The room is clean and comfortable!"
Toraya Inn
"This was my second stay, and the experience was just as great. The room was clean and comfortable. They have staff who speak Chinese, and they were very attentive, recommending nearby hot springs and restaurants. The owner also speaks a little Chinese. The simple breakfast was fantastic, and the hot soup was delicious! You can leave your luggage at the 1F lobby during check-in or check-out, and they can also arrange a taxi for you. Highly recommended!"
Gero Onsen Fugaku
"The exterior picture of the hotel is not consistent with the reality. There is no Japanese-style entrance location. If you need pick-up service, you may need to inform in advance. In addition, there is a private bath on the 2nd floor, and you must make an appointment in advance. All the waiters are very nice and they will rent yukata for free, which I am very satisfied with. Everything in the room was good, but the hotel facilities were a bit old, including the Wi-Fi connection which took a while and was not used effectively. In addition, the large public bath and open-air bath are also of an old-style design. There are no locked lockers. The lights are a bit pale at night and there are not many people. I hope the hotel can replace them with brighter lights. Meals will be served in the room, and the taste is not too special."
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Gero Bekkan (Old:Yukai Resort Gero Saichoraku Bekkan)
"+ : beautiful, traditional Japanese hotel with nice tatami rooms. The room was spacious and confortable with all necessary amenities. The outdoor onsen was great and almost empty when I went. The breakfast buffet is ok. - : a LOT of stairs in the building (very difficult for elderly and disabled people, but also people with big suitcases!). There is a car that theoretically can pick you up at the train station or drop you off but I couldn’t use it when I arrived because I received no information on it beforehand or when I left because it only starts at 10am. The onsen is not tattoo friendly and you have to pay for the tattoo cover. Staff was kind but most of the time unable to offer solutions Overall, a beautiful ryokan but for the price, you can find better."
Hotel de Marronnier Gero Onsen
"The hotel is located on a hillside on the edge of Gero City, offering panoramic views of the entire city. It's a bit of a distance from Gero Station, so driving is recommended, but the hotel also provides a shuttle bus."
Koyoi Tenku Ni Asobu Shogetsu
"The view was amazing, and the hospitality was fantastic. The panoramic view of the mountains and the Hida River from the high ground from the windows was truly amazing. My husband, who loves trains, was very impressed to be able to watch the trains passing over the iron bridge. It was a surprise for him as he had no idea about it. The hallway to the private dining room was also an exciting, wonderful space that gave us a taste of the extraordinary, and we were also impressed by the hospitality of the waitresses. Each dish of food was carefully prepared and delicious, and healthy for our bodies. We would definitely recommend this inn to others."
Gero Onsen Gero Royal Hotel Miyabitei
"Pamper yourself in a traditional Japanese room and enjoy private open air Onsen. They also have a hot path at the top of the building that opens from 5am! If you order the set dinner, they will bring the whole array of items to your room and set up accordingly. After dinner they will come lay the mattress for you while you can go enjoy the hot bath or Onsen. Short walk from the train station although it’s a slope. Quiet and nice neighbourhood. You can also get the Onsen pass and go Onsen hopping."
Miyako
"Superb ryokan"
Yuasobi No Yado Gero Kanko Hotel Honkan
"The hotel is located in Gero City. It has a beautiful appearance. Check-in was quick. The lobby staff can speak fluent English and are very warm and courteous. You can pick up a bathrobe to soak in the hot spring. It is very comfortable. The room is clean and tidy. The only thing is that there is no shower liquid/washing liquid. The hair lotion/conditioner is in the room. You have to go to Reception and ask the staff to get it. I hope the hotel will pay attention. Overall, this hotel has a good value for money. I will stay here again next time."
Gero Onsen Yukyunohana
"Peaceful place. Hotel staffs are nice and helpful. Good to stay."
Hotel Miki
"It was situated at outskirts from the town. If you like nature and quiet life to chill and relax with onsen this is the best place to spend your days. Ordinary dinner served with room. One cons is you are unable to take shower in your room since there was no bathroom."
Suihoen
"I ordered grilled ayu (sweetfish) for dinner, but it was already included in the course menu, so I ended up with two plates. During dinner, I complained to the waitress that she should have explained the order when she took it. I should have checked beforehand, though. The next day, when I paid the bill, the inn offered to remove the extra charge, saying that they hadn't explained it properly. I was very impressed by their conscientious response. I learned a lot about the spirit of service. The food was the best dinner I've ever had at any inn I've traveled to. The refined taste of the seasoning left a lasting impression. If I stay in Gero Onsen again in the future, I won't choose any other inn. They also have a Japanese-style French restaurant, and I'd like to try their food next time. I recommend this inn to anyone who values the quality of their meals."
