"Kaliwa lodge was everything we dreamed of and more! First of all, the location of Kaliwa lodge is bliss. Right between the banana plantations, in the jungle at the foot of the Kilimanjaro is where you find the lodge. You feel like you are right inside of nature, eventhough you're not so far from Moshi! Secondly, the staff was extremely kind and made sure everything we wished for was fulfilled. The food that was served was unbelievable: the breakfast had a huge variety of fruits, yoghurt, muesli, eggs, pancakes and more.. Really anything you could wish for. The daily menu offered a 3 course meal of lovely food with a local twist (with which they served really tasty wine!). Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at Kaliwa Lodge, it was a blissful stay in a lush environment!"

"KIA Lodge was my last stop after three weeks in rural Tanzania volunteering with the Canadian community health NGO CACHA. Contrary to recent reviews, my stay was lovely. The location is surprisingly serene, despite being on the airport property. My room was comfortable and clean, with hot water and reasonably good shower pressure - things that were a treat at the end of my trip. Dinner is a four course, prix fixe menu with fish or meat selection. The breakfast was good, not amazing but a decent selection, especially the pastries. My only negative comment would be the pool, which looked like it had a layer of dirt on the bottom. Given that we are coming out of the dry season, this could be the reason. The price is high but you are at the airport. Think of what you'd pay to stay at an airport hotel vs the same chain if you were a few km away - same principle here. It's very convenient, and that comes with a price. It all depends on your perspective. After three weeks with intermittent electricity and cold water the KIA Lodge was a welcome treat. If you've been staying in five star safari lodges, this is not where you should stay."

"Stayed here on each end of our 10 day Lemosho route summit of Kilimanjaro. Rooms were clean and the staff were great. Onsite restaurant was good with a broad menu of offerings. On return from our trek the staff quickly cleaned our laundry and shoes to enable us to continue on to our safari."

"I stayed at Aishi Machame while on a trip to climb Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro followed by a safari, all with Altezza. The hotel was absolutely lovely. My room was spacious and comfortable with a good shower and toiletries, drinking water, tea and coffee, mosquito net and fan. There was also a good laundry service. Breakfast was an excellent buffet and the other vegetarian food I ate was also good. The eating/bar area looked over gardens with more seating outside. There were loungers by the swimming pool. Monkeys ran about in the trees and bush babies were fed in the evening. There was a short walk to the river and other tours could be arranged. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a great place to prepare for the hiking and relax afterwards with other hikers to share experiences and advice with."

"We stayed here our first and last 3 nights of our trip and after being away for a week, it felt like returning home. The staff couldn’t be friendlier and are very accommodating, even leading us on walks to the local village and answering all of our questions. Rooms are basic and wifi better at the lodge, but it completely met my needs. The pool was refreshing after a long flight and a lovely place to hang out at the end of the day. Beautiful grounds."
